Monarch Ballroom & Dance Studio

My fiancé and I were looking for something fun to do together and to help us with our dancing skills for our upcoming wedding, and Monarch Ballroom & Dance Studio has turned out to be the biggest blessing! From the day I contacted them, there has been excellent communication and easy scheduling. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming!Our coach Krista is the best! We are both beginners and she exudes patience and a positive energy at all of our lessons. She is a skilled dancer and we aspire to get to her level of expertise.For the past several months, we have been working together to create a choreographed first dance and are so happy with our decision to come here and learn something new! We have been building our confidence with dance week after week and can't wait to learn all the different types of dancing! I would recommend this studio to everyone!

I had my first dance lesson at the Monarch Ballroom and Dance Studio last week. My instructor, Chris Thomas, was fabulous. In my first lesson he taught the basics of salsa and merengue. My next lesson we're going to focus on swing. I like Chris's style of teaching. He shows you the steps, let's you practice but also teaches techniques to help improve style. This part makes you stand out when you go dancing in public.I'm excited to try a group lesson as well and a social event. A few months ago I saw an ad for 3 introductory dance lessons at Monarch Ballroom. Learning to dance had been a life-long dream of mine. So, I picked up the phone and made the call. At the time, I was 70 years young. At the end of the 1st lesson with Chris Thomas, I knew there were more than 2 more lessons in my future. I have found all the instructors to be professional and personable. I recently completed my first achievement ball and am currently preparing for a showcase in a few months. Never in my life did I think I would be learning to dance at my age and having so much fun doing it. I have met some incredible people who are also taking lessons in the last few months. In addition, dancing is helping me physically and mentally. I even walk with more confidence. I don't think I have ever been more in touch with what I am capable of doing. I can truly say that much laughter ensues during each lesson. If you have ever wanted to learn to dance or just a certain dance, I highly recommend Monarch Ballroom Dance studio. It's good for the soul.

I'm an intermediate dancer, from Boston, visit here periodically, was looking for a place to dance and came across this wonderful venue. Showed up for their 4-count Hustle class and it was so fun I delayed plans I had for after and stayed for their 3-count Hustle class. The instructors were excellent in their attitude and style. The participants ranged in skill levels, as is the norm, but everyone had the kind of fun dancers can have when they just abandon pretense, are not judged, don't take themselves too seriously, and can be open to the experience. Never be afraid to goof up, we ALL do it. You can't learn without failures. Laugh, and carry on. This attitude is the key to social dancing, and I saw that understanding in this place tonight. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I walked in, by both staff and participants. I am going back tomorrow night for a Rhumba class. From now on, I will consider this my "home studio" when I am down here.Claude Maddox

I was first introduced to Monarch Ballroom at their Philips Hwy location, but was happy to see they moved to San Jose. I have taken two of my private dance lessons (I have paid for two more with the introduction rate of $59). My instructor Nino gives personal attention and teaches based on my skill and preferences. There are regular classes (two a night) Monday through Thursday. Additionally the studio is rented out to other agencies on the weekends. This is a great place to become a really good dancer. As a social dancer, I probably won't take as many lessons as most, but they are very helpful.

Five years ago, my life changed in more ways than I could have ever imagined. It was the day I was hired to be a dance instructor at #MonarchBallroom I've danced my entire life and always knew this is what I wanted to do but was so lucky to have had this wonderful place be the one that fell into my lap and is now where I call home. The owners, Chris and Krista have been my mentors and have taught me life lessons that I could not learn at any other place of work. I am eternally grateful for you both. The saying is true.... Find a job that you love and you'll never work a day in your life. I see my future and I'm exactly where I want to be. Thank you, God, thank you Chris and Krista!!

Located in a nice shopping plaza, the Monarch Ballroom has a nice L shaped dance area. Spacious enough to learn how to swing and learn a Lindy Hop.I was here for a Swing Dance Club event and am not usually a ballroom dancer attendee. My experience is limited. I do know I had a good time learning how to swing dance. The Monarch Ballroom itself is bright, well lit with ample parking. The mirrors are extremely flattering in that they seem to shave off a couple of unwanted pounds when you watch yourself learning how to shake your money maker. That feature is always MUCH appreciated.

Krista is brilliant. Such a kind spirit and excited to teach even after instructing for 25 years. Took me as a beginner up to a descent dancer in 6 months. Can't wait for the next wedding to hit the floor and dance while my friends stand being bored holding up the bar
