I recently had the pleasure of dining at Monarca Mexican Cuisine and Tequila Bar, and from the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by the inviting ambiance. The interior design is nothing short of stunning, with vibrant colors, tasteful décor, and a warm, welcoming vibe that instantly made me feel at ease. The lighting was perfect, and the music playing softly in the background fit the atmosphere perfectly. It wasn't too loud, allowing for easy conversation, but it added just the right touch to enhance the overall dining experience. The menu offered an extensive variety of dishes, giving diners plenty of options to explore. Whether you're craving classic Mexican staples or looking to try something new, the range of choices ensures there's something for everyone. To start off, the restaurant serves complimentary crunchy chips and salsa, and I have to say, the salsa was authentic and delicious, with just the right balance of freshness and spice. It was the perfect way to kick off the meal.Next, I ordered a Mangonada, which was absolutely delightful. This sweet and tangy drink is a must-try if you're a fan of fruity flavors with a bit of kick. It was refreshing and packed with flavor, making it an ideal pairing with the rest of the meal. After enjoying the Mangonada, I went for the Monarca Sampler, which offered a bit of everything: beef nachos, chicken quesadillas, chicken flautas, stuffed jalapeños, and a side of queso. The sampler was a fantastic choice, giving me the opportunity to savor a variety of different flavors and textures in one dish. Every bite offered something unique, with the flavors bouncing on my tongue--each component was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. For the little one, I ordered chicken fingers, and they were a hit! Even though it's a simple dish, the chicken was tender and crispy, and it's always a plus when the kiddo is happy with their meal.I also tried the La Gringa quesadilla, which pleasantly surprised me with the addition of pineapple. At first, I was a bit skeptical about the combination of sweet and savory, but it turned out to be a brilliant pairing. The pineapple added a subtle sweetness that enhanced the quesadilla's flavor without overpowering the other ingredients. My next dish was the Carnitas Michoacán, which was another standout. The carnitas were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The slow-cooked pork practically melted in my mouth, while the accompanying beans were smooth and complemented the meat perfectly. This is the kind of dish that leaves a lasting impression, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Monarca. One of my dining companions ordered a chicken quesadilla, which was also excellent. It was generously stuffed with chicken, cheese, and other tasty ingredients, and they were very pleased with their choice. On top of all that, I couldn't resist trying the Coconut Margarita on the rocks. This cocktail was fantastic! It had just the right amount of coconut flavor without being too sweet, and it was the perfect drink to enjoy alongside the rich and flavorful food. Finally, we ended the meal with an order of churros. I was a bit hesitant at first, as I've had some less-than-stellar churros in the past, but these were absolutely perfect. The churros were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. The flavors were spot on, making for a wonderful, sweet finish to an already outstanding meal.Overall, I highly recommend Monarca Mexican Cuisine and Tequila Bar to anyone who loves authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is attentive. Whether you're looking for a great place to have a casual dinner or celebrate a special occasion, Monarca is definitely worth a visit.

Actually it was pretty good. A little slow on the service but overall not bad. Good selection on bar and beer selection. I had the crab and spinach enchilada and candyce had the chicken skewers. She let me try to the chicken skewer meat. Really tasty. The taste on the enchiladas was a bit strong. Probably won't order those in the future. Very nice place with good artwork on the walls. We'll be back.

My husband and I went out last night to Monarca for our Valentines dinner. We were seated right away since there were plenty of booths. We ordered our usual pitcher of margaritas. My husband ordered steak burritos Mexicano and I ordered pollo margarita. My husband liked his burritos and my chicken was so tender and had great flavor. We normally eat outside but we decided to dine indoors. The restaurant has beautiful butterflies on the walls with Mexican music playing. By the time we left there wasn't many empty seats left. We had a very enjoyable evening.

Delicious Mexican restaurant in this plaza. This location has been so many restaurants and was a Mexican restaurant before as well. Today we had lunch with Jo wait at 1pm. Very nice service and great food. The enchiladas were not swimming in sauce but done just perfect. Definitely a great place to come.

Just an update on my previous review. Monarca is a family favorite (both for those of us who live here and for family who visits from out of town!) First, love the decorative monarch butterfly decorations throughout (hence the name, natch!). The service is always great - Sonya, Maria and the rest of the staff will take excellent care of you. My favorite drink is the blue organic margarita - tasty AND pretty. My favorite go-to are the tacos - I've tried the grilled chicken, grilled steak, shrimp and birria - all so good! My favorite is probably the shrimp taco (served in a corn tortilla with fresh avocado, cotija cheese and a cilantro lime mayo). I also love the Maya quesadilla (available with chicken, steak or shrimp) - roasted corn, black beans and more! Hubby's favorites are any of the steak dishes (including the brochetas) and the Santa Fe salad. I will have to add more pics of other dishes going forward.

The food was very good and the service was wonderful. Have been there a couple times and ready to go back again. I'm not sure the name of the dish but it was the chicken and steak Skewers with the rice on the side, which was very delicious. Steak was extremely tender. My boyfriend had the shrimp tacos and a fish taco and they were good.

It was 90 degrees out and I was done with my errands, so I decided to swing into Monarca for some lunch and most importantly, a Margarita. The Sandia Margarita was made with fresh watermelon and the glass was rimmed with tajin. It was exactly what I needed after melting outside all morning. I made quick work of the birria tacos which were filled with tender beef and melty cheese. The consommé was flavorful and had a healthy amount of fresh cilantro, which I loved. Everyone I interacted with with friendly and my server came to check on me to make sure I was enjoying my meal. My tacos came out super quickly, too. I will certainly be back for another one of those margaritas soon!

We are from Ca originally and Mexican food has been hard to find that is the style we are used to. This place is it!! First the service was first class our server was so friendly and helped us w any questions we asked. The restaurant is also very cute and clean and bathrooms were clean and stocked. The food was delicious. We had the large guacamole which was so good. Also the salsa was on point! The veggie enchiladas were so good. I will say the shrimp tacos were delicious but the shrimp was a bit overcooked. That is the only negative I have and it was only minor. The shrimp cocktail was great as well. We will be back and are happy we found this hidden gem!

The grilled mahi tacos were delicious, and the steak Asada tacos were delicious as well. The pork was a little dry in the Carnitas Estilo Michoacán. Our three year old decided the ketchup was finger licking good and the chicken tenders on par. My middle was disappointed by the amount of tomatoes on the tacos she ordered without tomatoes but still finished two of the three. So they must have been pretty good. She would have gone for the third but she had her full of chips. Their chips are on the thicker side, but over all satisfying. The Portraits of Frida Kahlo on the walls and the large mural make the artist in me happy. A soccer game played on the large tv over the bar. It was enough to entertain but not distract from our family meal. Mexican music played over the speakers and the roar of conversation and laughter set the tone for community. Groups large and small this place though laid back served well.
