We tried this because a Facebook friend recommended it. That friend is now unfollowed We didn't like 2 out of the 2 dishes we ordered and we were surprised that our bill was $50+. This restaurant serves cafeteria-style food (all foods are pre-cooked and you just point to whatever you like). If you take into consideration the ambiance, presentation and taste of the food, it shouldn't have cost more than $30. We took the leftovers home (I couldn't eat what I ordered, but I don't like wasting food) and our dogs didn't even like them either The service was ok, they weren't super attentive but they weren't rude either. This is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1Yet another reason to stay home and cook more often

Making tamales this Christmas? Go here! They have plantain leaves for authentic Honduran tamales. Not only was I excited that this location was near me, but the service inside was outstanding as well.As an American woman, I am use to the stares when shopping at an ethnic grocery store. However, I found this store very well stocked and full of patrons. Everything I needed to make Christmas tamales was here.... the meat, seasonings, masa, Manteca ..... and if needed the tamale steamer. The store was clean, the isles were accommodating, they had a fresh meat counter and they have fresh cooked food (I did not taste any good on this trip). If you are in need to get your authenticity on ..... they have the ingredients!Merry Christmas

This is differently the best place to go for Hispanic food like Mexican food, which the tortillas are very good and the amount of candy and snacks they have is amazing.

This is the Mi Pueblo meat market, aka "Mi Pueblo #2" (it is down Beach blvd from Mi Pueblo #1). From the intel I received from the owner of El Castillo, this is the primary carniceria for the area. They sell El Castillo's bolillos. But most importantly, they sell meat. And real skirt steak which they call "carne fajita". Since my Spanish is limited to pointing, carne and lo siento, I couldn't ask for what I wanted, since I didn't know how to ask if there was more of things in Spanish. Or what something was. This time, I came with my kitchen accomplice who, thankfully, speaks Spanish. I left with 5 pounds of the most beautiful skirt steak. I nearly cleared them out. I felt like I won the meat lottery.I also got some really nice uncured pork belly, bone in pork chops, and longanisa (unsure if that's chorizo or something else, but I bought it anyway). I was not a fan of their pre-marinated carne asada for cuts of meat, it wasn't the best. I thought it would've been long strips of skirt steak, but it's cut up with some grisly parts. Did you know it's impossible to find skirt steak in the greater Jacksonville area? Publix, nope. Tillman's? Nope. Small butcher down the street? Nope. Anyway, I am fairly certain this isn't owned by Mexicans. It's Central American and northern South American (Peruvian, Guatemalan, El Salvadorian). It was hard to find a crema that didn't have cream cheese in it like the La Vaquita brand I've come to know and love. Their tomatillos are perfect. Avocados aren't all hard. Lots of different kinds of queso. Chicharrons, homemade and packaged. All the quintessential canned goods.

I really liked the meat empanada made with corn flour, it was good. The yellow rice and beans were good. Not amazing but good. If I was not so full, I would eat more empanadas. There is a large selection at the store. I bought a few things to try like wafers, chili dusted chickpeas, and chocolate. There are a lot of the international drinks I like to get like guava juice, pineapple soda, Coco Rico, etc. They have big bags of candy you can use for Halloween lol! It looked very clean, the buffet and glass surrounding it were very clean. I would definitely go back for snacks and empanadas.

I stumbled across Mi Pueblo on a lunch break. This is a true traditional authentic eatery. The food was fresh and enjoyable, the entire menu is in Spanish so be prepared if you don't speak the language. But don't let that stop you. The portion size is huge and enjoyable till the end. I will be back to try the rest of the menu. I started safe with the chicken, yellow rice and plantain. For $8.99 lunch.

Not real Mexican food, but I guess any where in Jacksonville isn't. Better off making my own at home
