Mbody was my first experience with baptist power yoga, and Long story short, I fell in love. The yoga teachers push you physically and mentally, and there will be moments that you think you can't but then somehow you just jump right back in. They're trying to help you grow in strength and in mind, and you will. Many people may run quickly away when they hear that the studio room is set at 85 degrees, but don't let that keep you from going! I thought I would be uncomfortable working out in a room that hot, but actually it was the opposite. Your body sweat keeps you cool and keeps your muscles loose so you can bend further, stretch deeper. Your first class is free! So expand yourself and give it a try! Side note: in October I will have been practicing there for a year and this August 17 I'll be starting the teacher training program. Needless to say I don't ever regret trying yoga for the first time ;)

This place is okay so long as you are willing to endure the mandatory 10-minute teacher training certification propaganda that takes place after every single class. If that wasn't enough, when you leave the heated room and go into the lobby, and happen to be unfortunate enough to make eye contact or strike a "casual" conversation with the staff, they will pour upon you the exact same 10-minute sales pitch you heard just 30 seconds ago. If you are not interested, never, ever tell them it's due to financial reasons, because they have got another 15-minute long sales pitch regarding the sweet sweet payment plans. Usually by now, I've already spent 5 minutes internally begging God for a merciful release. And I haven't yet touched upon the multiple phone calls and emails yet. Let's save that for later. During my time at this place, I must have wasted an aggregate 200 minutes of my life listening to these used car salesmen. That's 200 minutes that I could have spent taking tango lessons, or meditating, or cliff diving.

This is my yoga home and where I first fell in love with the practice. Over the years my body has become stronger than I could have imagined because of this studio and what I have learned here. The room is heated just right and they do not play music, which seems to be rare but I love the silence. You will feel healthy and amazing after a class, and see results! One constructive criticism- maybe have a different class for fresh out of school yoga teachers. One where students can give feedback, maybe costs less. There is sometimes a great discrepancy in the skill of the instructors, but we pay for the same classs.

Great, hard challenging yoga. Great instructors! Room is hot, but that's part of it and good for muscles. Easy convenient location. Don't park in front of Mexican resturant next door.

I've been doing yoga for 14 years now. I've practiced at a few studios in Los Angeles, Columbus, OH, and this is my first after moving here to JAX. Let me start with the positives: this place delivers a great workout, the temperature is heated just right, it's challenging and the level in my opinion is just right. Eddie, Frank, and Chelsea Bishop are AMAZING instructors. The negatives: When I first started, I showed up a couple of times a few minutes late during rush hour and was locked out. Then I learned my lesson and started showing up on time however, I got a little frustrated when some of the classes would begin and end 10-15 mins late. It's not consistent, nor fair. Because your time is important and mines isn't? I inquired once about the "40 days to a personal revolution" workshop and started getting harassed with phone calls asking me to join. I had to create a lie that I was going to LA to get them to stop calling me. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I started getting phone calls to renew my membership. I told Chelsea Franklin that I would renew in person if I decided to (that was the first phone call). Then I got a call from Dawn and I told her that I decided I wasn't going to renew because I want to try pure barre. Dawn called again a few days after we spoke and asked me to renew once again. This time I told her that we already spoke and felt she was being pushy. They even called my husband during work (he is a physician & he was with a patient who had stroked) asking him to renew and he just hung up on them! I have never experienced persistent, pushy behavior from a yoga studio. Mbody yoga is extremely money-driven. They are constantly promoting workshops and teacher training. This, in my opinion, takes away from the practice and results in some inexperienced teachers instructing the classes. Lastly, I do feel that the classes are becoming redundant. There isn't much variety. With other studios, there is a clear distinction between the classes taught by different instructors. Here at Mbody, they all have the same set up and after a while you wonder if you're still getting a great workout or if your body has gotten accustomed to it and needs more.

This review is technically for the M Body Yoga studio in the Jacksonville Beaches area, but I couldn't find a listing for that one (it's pretty new), so I figured I'd stick it here. Same owner, same type of yoga.I travel a lot for business, and I was thrilled to find a studio just a few blocks from my "standard" hotel. MBody Yoga teaches the Baptiste style of yoga, which is Ashtanga-based, but tweaked a bit. They heat the room to about 90 degrees, so it's not as intense (or as brutally painful) as Bikram yoga, but it still gets your body warm quickly, which (at least for me) helps with your flexibility. The classes are also varied, so you're not always doing the same asanas (postures) - the instructors mix it up a bit to give you some variety in each class.Speaking of instructors, they are all highly motivated and professional. They encourage the class and individuals to push themselves, but also to recognize and understand when you're approaching your limits, so you don't go too hard and possibly cause injury to yourself.Prices are very reasonable; $14 for a drop in, and they offer a $40 for 40 days deal, which is really awesome if you live in the Jacksonville area. Highly recommend this studio - bring a towel (or two).

I love going to this studio! I've gone here off and on since 2008 work schedule permitting. The teachers are always very friendly and the classes always leave me feeling clear headed and happy! These yoga classes are challenging, and a great workout! The type of yoga that they offer is Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. The room is heated and you will sweat!Things to know... you can rent a mat and a towel. Just bring a long beach towel if you have one. Your first class is free, and they offer a $40/40days after that. Oh, and there are two locations one on Southside and one in Neptune Beach. If you've never done yoga, don't be intimidated, this is a great place to learn.

Absolutely one of my fav studios in Jacksonville. Franks class on Tuesday and Funky Friday are two of the more popular classes so arrive early. Parking is a ...BEACH! but well worth it. Prepare to sweat no matter what class you come to but will be laughi g and smile all the way thru.

Based on my experience at this studio, whether you are looking for classes or yoga teacher trainings, if the owner is still Leah Green I recommend you stay far. Far away. Leah bought the studio approximately a year ago, and if you notice the positive reviews here are almost all close to a year old or older. During my recent 300 hour training, I watched Leah force people to discuss their private trauma then proceed to tell them "there's no such thing as right or wrong" after they disclosed their pain. I heard multiple times "no is not an option" as a response to people not wanting to share. She belittled me at every opportunity and threatened me with the police because I refused to interact with her after these experiences in an attempt to emotionally protect myself from her. It is my opinion that she is not only unqualified to handle delicate issues such as rape and other trauma (according to the Yoga Alliance code of conduct as well as local and national laws governing therapeutic practices, these topics should be only therapeutically addressed by a mental health professional) but in attempting to do so, it's my opinion that she is being unethical, abusive and a bully.
