Not need to hold back! Matt's Italian Cuisine has the best lasagna I've ever experienced! As close to perfect as it can ever be - just perfect to me! And there is a reason for that. Most may like the cheese loaded on top and the layers on the interior. But that's not what's best! Most may love the superb marinara - and it is fabulous! But that's not what's best! What is best is the spiced up meat in the middle. It stands out like perfectly in an already close to perfect lasagna! Well, at least I can't think of any knocks on this or the other spaghetti meatball dish my friend and I ordered on the visit. Matt's has been around for over 31 years and is a staple in the area. Hakan, the owner of this restaurant now, was gracious to spend some time chatting with me to let me know he kept the recipes the same and people in the community continue to visit in droves. It was slow there on my visit but the service was great and I always love the classic look of a ma and pa shop. The seating is mostly by booths in classic wooden frames. If you like that style (and I do!) this is a place you must visit :D And make sure you order the tiramisu for dessert! It's terrific! For sure, you'll enjoy a good meal here. Mine lasted two days and it was as good on the second day as it was in the restaurant! It's a place I'll get to when I need an Italian cuisine fix for sure!Recommend: VERY HIGH

We were in the neighborhood for a Yelp dessert event and decided to try this place for dinner. It was a good decision. Service was quick from both the hostess and our waitress. The menu has plenty of appetizers, salads and soups, as well as entrees. I started with the minestrone soup and it was very tasty. For my entree I had the antipasto salad. It was a very big and tasty salad with plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoni, ham, onions, green peppers, olives and mozzarella cheese. My husband had the chicken piccatta with pasta. He also loved his meal.

This is the kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant that every community should have. The food is consistent, the menu options are vast, and the service is friendly and efficient. I had the chicken piccata which had wonderful flavors and was very well prepared on a bed of pasta. The portion was excellent and it was quite good. Prices are very reasonable, with our meal averaging less than $30 per person including tip, tax and drinks. The location has both a bar area and a dining area accommodating all preferences. The place was quite popular on Friday night as we left, so you'll likely want to get there at a less than peak time or you might wait a few minutes for a table. When I'm back in the area, I'll certainly return.

The place was great! The chicken Marsala, salad and bread was very plentiful and delicious. My step father treated me here for my birthday. He told me to choose. This was close to his home, so I chose this place. This was my first time here. This place has been on my bucket list. The service was good. I felt right at home here. This place will be on my rotation list from now on. You could tell there were a lot of regulars that were coming in. That's a good sign. I am just sorry I did not come here sooner than now. I can't wait to come back. Pros:service, food and overall dining experience. Cons: NoneRecommend? Yes!

The food here left a lot to be desired. The ziti had an absurd amount of cheese (and I am a huge cheese lover), making it almost inedible. The chicken parm sub was just okay, but lacked any real flavor and we had to get some extra marinara from our cabinet to dip it in to make it any good. The restaurant forgot our cheesy bread sticks too, but they did refund it with a quick phone call. The inside looked nice, but this was a to go order. I don't think we'll be back

Nice little Italian place. We did an order of manicotti and a lasagne. Both were good. Side salads leave a little to be desired. But hey, it's just a side salad. Bread is a sub roll...so kind of strange, but very soft.

This is by far my favorite pizza spot in Jacksonville. I've been eating here for as long as I can remember. The delicious thin crust and that melty cheese. We usually go with a pepperoni pizza, the best I've ever had. I've only eaten in maybe twice; we usually order carry-out. Inside is a cute little restaurant that gives off Italian restaurant vibes. Even if we are doing carry out, the staff is always so lovely and quick. Some of my favorite recommendations: Pepperoni pizza, tortellini bob, stuffed shells, chicken Marsala, their salad with the creamy Italian dressing, and of course the cheesy bread.

We have been ordering pizza for years. Good pizza made by non-Italian owners. Never bought dessert however tonight we decided to buy cannolis. These are not Sicilian cannolis. For $2.50 each. Terrible. If you run an Italian restaurant you need to be authentic even with dessert. Very disappointed for sure. Will have to consider doing business with the true Italian restaurant near our house.

We have had good experiences at Matt's Italian Cuisine restaurant each time we visited. It's a small restaurant with good food and a nice atmosphere. We love the lasagna dinner with salad. ( we usually split the order between the two of us. ) If you're looking for a good Italian restaurant in the area, give it a try. Family owned and operated. Enjoy!
