Nicely little homie restaurant that I used a LoLo at this afternoon. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and provided service immediately. I got the cheeseburger and Fries for the LoLo and ordered a small beverage. Nice to still see reasonable drink prices at $1.99 and free refills. The food only took minutes and came out hot and fresh. The fries were perfectly cooked and the burger was seasoned and cooked well. The bun had both sides toasted and the LTO were definitely fresh. I enjoyed conversation with what I believe was the owner and another member of the staff both wishing me a Merry Christmas while dining and when I left. Small nice gestures like this in a small town atmosphere makes me want to give back to small businesses. It's what keeps them going and I thank them for this great experience.

Terrific homemade food - I had the pastrami and coleslaw and enjoyed both. It was odd that the slaw is served in a small dish that is lined with lettuce. I would have preferred more slaw and no lettuce, but that won't stop me from returning. Service was friendly and helpful. Having to go up/down steps to the lower seating area was a bit of challenge for my companion, but having the handicap parking right outside the side door was helpful!

I came for the tenderloin sandwich and accidentally ordered the pork chop special. What a glorious mistake! I got Mac n cheese and taters and gravy as my sides. Both were very tasty and homemade quality. My pork chop rivaled my mothers which I cannot even match. Decided to order sandwiches for the family for dinner.I saw someone eating a salad that also looked superb. They aren't open next week but I'll be back to try their goulash special after thanksgiving.

Service was good, I came for the fried pork sandwich but they were out. I opted for the burger and the lady said they were known for their burgers. It wasn't anything special, it tasted like a bubba burger and it was served a medium well. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, nor did I mention how I wanted it cooked. The patty didn't really taste seasoned. I've had the Cuban there before and that was pretty good. I'll have to go back another time to get the fried pork sandwich. The service was very good and friendly.

Countless times I've passed Madys but seeing as I'm not much of a sandwich person, I never stopped at Madys. I thought it was mainly a sandwich place. My son was with me the other day when we passed Madys and he wanted to try it. So I checked Yelp, of course! When I discovered Madys does indeed serve more than sandwiches, I thought we'd give it a shot. We wandered in today around 3:30. There was only 1 other person in the tiny front dining room. A menu board noted the daily specials and menus were on the counter. The owner took our orders. We were anxious to try the pork tenderloin, but she said it was sold out. She told us that her son made it and she never knew when he was going to make it...and that he only made one today. The specials today were Smothered Chicken and Liver & Onions. I am one of those weird people who actually likes Liver & Onions! But not in the mood today. I ordered the Smothered Chicken, which was described as a "sweet" dish, with caramelized onions, bacon and cheese. My son opted for the Open Faced Roast Beef Sandwich. The Smothered Chicken sounds great in theory, but the execution, not so much. It was a big piece of chicken breast, more than I could eat. But the chicken was dry and most parts just tough. The onions were few and far between. The bacon really added flavor though. Had the chicken been moist, it would've been a game changer. For sides I chose rice & gravy and creamed peas. If you've read most of my reviews, you know that I love (real homemade) gravy! But it seems no one knows how to cook it anymore, or just don't have the time and use a mix or something canned. This gravy wasn't terrible, but it was watery and weak. The creamed peas were good and a large serving. I don't know what it is about creamed peas-it's a simple dish and pretty bland on the food scale. I think it's a comfort food, like mashed potatoes. There was more than enough for me to share with my son.As you can see in the photo, the roast beef sandwich and gravy covered the entire plate! Underneath it all was a slice of white bread. Hidden under the gravy was mashed potatoes. The big disappointment with this choice was the roast beef. I was expecting a chunk of real home cooked roast beef and gravy made from the juices. But it was sliced deli meat and canned gravy. This did not stop my son from cleaning his plate!Madys is located in an older building, so don't expect a bright shiny interior. It does appear to be clean for the most part, but inside there is a sort of old building, maybe someone smoked cigarettes in there kind of smell. The plastic Heinz ketchup bottles on the tables need to be replaced. The labels were peeling off and looked dirty, as well as the caps. I was glad I didn't order anything that required ketchup! I understand the refilling the bottle thing, but at some point you just need to throw them away and get new ones! The walls are filled with 50's & 60's decor...Elvis, Roy Rogers, James Dean, an old rotary phone and the like.I might go to Madys again and try something different. I wish I could say I was thrilled with today's choices, but maybe next time.

Madys-Arlington Sure the food is OK, but the lady who answers the phone is very rude. Was just asking a question, and she just had a bad disposition (I'm being nice). Just the attitude alone turned me off from setting foot in that establishment.
