The best Mexican restaurant in Saint Johns!Strong $3 happy hour margs (or $6 reg) fresh crispy draft beer. Queso dip that is cheesy creamy. Guac is thick and flavorful. Free refillable chips and salsa unlike the newer Mexican restaurants. If you are a group (or like to drink, no judging here) I would suggest getting a pitcher of margs for $19, it has about 5 glasses My mother got the pilatillo del mar- grilled shrimp and swai fish (similar to tilapia but less fatty) served either rice, guac and lettuce. My dad got the shrimp fajitas which has an ample serving of shrimp. I got the pollo sinalounse which is grilled chicken breast covering in flavorful mushrooms and queso, served with rice and guac and lettuce. The tacos are amazing and have ample meat. Love the place and the service is always excellent. Prices are extremely reasonable.

This place always hits the spot when I'm craving Mexican!! I come here often! Cozy little place and the food is great. Always get good service. Prices are excellent!! Huge portions. Adore the chips and salsa!! I love the shrimp fajitas and the chimichangas are my absolute favorite! (I get one chicken, one beef, with rice instead of beans. Comes with lettuce, sour cream, guacamole & tomato.) They also have great vegetarian options! Definitely check this place out!

Last night's dinner I willsay it was good. We had a waiter who though knew his job was very quiet man a few words. The iced tea was a little more in the watery side. The burrito looked great and was huge. I had the grilled chicken which was not bad. It did not have the Mexican seasonings that I was hoping for and the avocado side salad was very sparse with avocado and didn't have any tomatoes in it. It was just lettuce with a little bit of avocado overall, it was OK.

This is my new favorite Friday night spot. The prices are epic, the atmosphere is festive, the servers are attentive, and the food is- with large portions is delish. I had the most amazing rancheros enchiladas which came with tender beer strips covering the cheese enchiladas, doused in an array of green peppers, tomatoes, and sauce. They are often busy, but there aren't huge waits. There is often someone donning their sombrero and getting a Happy Birthday serenade. I recommend the mango margarita. And those pre entree chips are especially hard to not fill up on.

I've tried many Mexican restaurants and when my husband brought me here, I was hopeful. And thank goodness we came. The food here was hot, fresh and delicious and delivered quickly! We were immediately served chips and some of the best restaurant style salsa I've had. It's got a small kick, folks! My husband got the White Enchiladas which he loved and I did my go-to, Enchiladas Suizas. I'm begging you, Los Portales... never change your enchiladas suizas recipe! The queso, the tomatillo sauce and sour cream... DELICIOUS. Service was quick and easy. Nothing too fancy but our waitress was very attentive with refills and checked on us often. I appreciate efficiency! The vibe of the restaurant was also very simple but on point. Great music as my husband broke into song and dance at the table multiple times. Gotta love it! 100% will be returning multiple times.

This is one of our favorites. We usually go at least once a week since I don't come home until after 7 from work. It is between our home and my MIL's. Although I am lactose intolerant they can make dishes without cheese. Chips and abundant salsa are free. Our favorite are the Shrimp fajitas. It is in the bottom left on the entree page. It can be made without cheese, no green bell peppers (no enzyme for that either) or any other modifications. They serve flour or corn tortillas which are very hot, fresh and wrapped in foil. My husband and MIL avoid carbs so I take theirs home to eat with my leftover fajita the next day. We have a microwave but no oven at work. The fajitas have large shrimp, mushrooms, zucchini, and optional green bell peppers and are served with a plate of shredded lettuce, slice of tomato, guacamole and optional sour cream. My MIL calls this a salad - it isn't. They also come with refried beans and cheese. The waits are used to me ordering no queso - I no longer have two heads. Enjoy!

If you are looking for a solid, basic Mexican food restaurant, with consistently tasty fair, this is your place. We had both beef and chicken fajitas. Beef was a little tuff, but good. Salsa was great, had a little bite (which I personally like). Refried beans, which I don't usually eat (too many carbs) were hard to resist, very flavorful. Great service. Check 'em out.
