Right down the road, Riley has played here many more times than I have checked in! They have a toddler section, bigger kid section, splash pad, hiking trail sports fields, basketball courts & dog area! AKA- they have it all. My daughter was quite bewildered that little Riley will climb and go down the small slide all by himself! Very proud of himself, he exclaims "COOL!" when he gets down at the bottom of the slide. He also loves the musical play items and LOVES the seesaw! Especially when I jump on with him. Last time the kids visited, we took them with us and the whole family enjoyed watching Riley run around like he owned the park!

We love this park for it's great splash pad that's open over the summer. It's totally free and kept very clean. It's a great spot to take the kids when it's hot outside and you still want to get out of the house.

This review is mostly about the free dog park but I also noticed some other great things about this park. Firstly the dog park just opened so several things were lacking such as water for humans or dogs near the dog park as well as signs. I drove through and saw no signs but went back this morning to check it out. The dog park is actually through the playground and splash park across the little trail bridge. If driving down Girvin it is right past the football field. The walk isn't bad at all and someone also visiting mentioned they plan to put a parking lot near the dog park so that will be nice. The kids park was empty both times I went so kids won't be distracting for your dog but as covid moves on I'm sure there will be more kids there. The small dog park is fairly small and contains nothing other than a bench. Not sure if there are any plans to change this but is a nice spot for you to let your pup run around or play fetch. The big dog park is a decent size and contains a wooded area and an open field. Standard 6 foot fence all around as well as a double gated entry. The wooded area hasn't been cleaned out so it will take a bit for it to be fully walkable for everyone. I didn't dare enter but others did and the dogs enjoyed it. The woods aren't dense so by standing on the side you can generally see pups all the way across. There are some benches and also poop stations. Overall this is a great addition to a much lacking free dog park Jacksonville. Hopefully they will install water soon but for now bring your own as well as bug spray! Will get pictures next time.

Leonard Abbess park is one of those parks that no one Knows the name of it, we just know it as "ya know, the park off Girvin". It has 2 softball fields and a couple of Lacrosse fields. Tennis Courts and a small play area for younger kids. My kids enjoy the tire swing the most and it will keep them occupied for about 45 minutes! It has a beautiful walk path and the ability to walk around the fields for us exercising moms when your child is practicing or playingThe bathrooms have been clean enough for park restrooms and are always supplied. But we haven't found a water fountain so bring your own!

Glad the dog park was close by. Having work done on our house so our young dog does not have his usual space. The dog park itself is a dusty oval with vegetation and trees. Does not let itself to much of free running, more so of a leisurely off lease walk. Not sure if we'll go back.

The dog park is good. There's plenty of running space and dog owners are responsible with picking up after their doggos. The dog park itself is fairly well-kept though there is one trash can that is always overflowing. And that is the downside to Abess Park... there is a lot of trash. From the entrance and all the way around to the dog park. The Parks and Rec department isn't maintaining the area well at all.

My son loves this park. I love how close it is to my house. It also has a free dog park that my dogs really seem to enjoy.
