Hidden gem outside Waldo. I tried the breakfast plate that was delicious. They had very friendly customer service and everything looked very clean.

I was just passing through town and stopped for lunch. The service was amazing-very fast , and the food was delicious. It's hard to find good Mexican food out here and these guys made excellent carnitas and chicken tacos!

Wow I had really high hopes for this place considering the excellent reviews. First, when I navigated there, I saw no signage indicating the location of the restaurant. My navigator seemed to be bringing me to a travel stop type of convenience store, which I walked in to ask them if they knew where La Tambora was. They told me to go next door and walk into Dunkin' Donuts. I did see a tiny little flier on the window of Dunkin indicating that there was also a Mexican restaurant inside. From the menu, I chose "Mexican style" for my one steak and one carnitas taco. This was described on the menu as "on corn tortillas with onion, cilantro, and lime, which is what a taco should be. My first clue was when she asked me if I wanted those on corn tortillas. Yes, that's part of "Mexican style." Then I saw the girl behind the line squirting some kind of white sauce into a bowl and figured she was working on someone else's order before mine...nope, she handed it to me. The tacos had onion and cilantro and this white sauce. No lime visible. I told her I couldn't eat a creamy sauce and the menu said it came with onion, cilantro, and lime. She said that's the cilantro-lime. I said no thank you, I don't eat creamy sauce and that I would like my tacos with onions cilantro and lime wedges please. So they remade the tacos with onions cilantro and cilantro. No like wedges in sight and no hint of lime flavor. Not only that, but no flavor at all. The carnitas tacos had zero flavor. I ate it because I was hungry, then moved onto the "steak" taco. It was not steak. It was more like barbacoa, which I hate. I thought maybe she put the wrong meat in so I looked into the pans behind the glass and see they don't even have steak. Just this shredded wet beef. Also mostly flavorless. The service was excellent and the girl was very nice. I didn't complain about anything after having the tacos remade, just ate them and left, but yuck! They didn't even come with any hot sauce that might have redeemed the taste. I guess they rely on that creamy white sauce to flavor their tacos, but they should make that clear on the menu. Nowhere else that serves Mexican style tacos does so with a creamy white sauce.
