La Strada Italian Restaurant

La Strada in St. Augustine is a true gem for Italian food lovers. It's in a cozy, charming setting and offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its delicious menu.The pasta dishes are the standout here--rich, flavorful, and made from scratch. I highly recommend the fettuccine Alfredo or the veal Parmesan, both of which are perfectly prepared with tender meats and creamy sauces. The portion sizes are generous, so be sure to bring your appetite!Service is friendly and attentive, with the staff making you feel right at home. The wine list is extensive, and their desserts are amazing so be sure to save room! While the restaurant can get busy, especially on weekends, it's worth the wait. My family always brings me here when I'm in town and I would recommend making reservations in advance.

The reviews are accurate! Small place, only 2 servers on a Saturday night. 7 pm reservation served meal at 8:20 pm Friendly, organized and good service. Noisy atmosphere, clean. The good news: The food was great! We enjoyed it and will definitely be back! We had Marsala, piccata and Osso Busco all excellent!

We continue to be very happy with the food and service. One of our favorite little places. The Chicken Derusso is fantastic!

I feel if I were to actually right a real review, it would become mean. I've ordered the grouper with pasta... if I had gone fishing and not washed the fish and just put on a plate, it would probably taste the same... Awful flavor, extremely fishy taste. The pasta sauce and the pasta itself, horrendous! Made the order through DoorDash and gave special instructions to add shrimp, they charged me extra for the shrimp as they should, that got charged immediately on my credit card, guess what? I will let you read the note they sent. Also, they didn't have the mousse which is okay but keep the money and not send another dessert, simply kept the money lolOne star because their garlic bread was pretty good and obviously the only thing I ate to avoid a belly issue (when I tell you my daughter and I took a bite and refused to eat bc of the smell... I'm not even joking around) *** DoorDash refunded me $8,11 for the desert

Made a reservation for 6 at 7pm they told us only outside which we where ok with it, they just forgot to tell us that they do not have a table for 6 outside so we had to split the family in two table. We asked for calamari but the server said that the fryer was not working so anything that was fried was not available, but then when we asked how was the eggplant napoleon prepared she said , breaded and fried sliced of eggplant which some how where available? 1h and 20 minutes later we got the appetizer and then 20 more minutes of nothing. It is at this point that we decided to leave so we asked for the check and told them that it was getting too late. At this point instead of an apologies we got to hear how it is normal for a meal at La Strada to take 2h and that they are being doing that for 24 years and so they know what they are doing. They bring us the check making absolutely sure that they charge us for the 1 appetizer and 1 glass of malbec and send us home.Ps when they short change me (50cent not much) and I asked why they said that they do not carry coins. So to make it short we left after 1h45 min with empty belly. Thank god me and my wife are both chefs so we made it just in time to make ourselves a great plate of spaghetti home.

Food is outstanding. However, service is quirky and not customer-friendly. There is one chef--the owner--so when it's busy, wait times can be long (we were there almost 3 hours last night). If you are near the kitchen you can hear him screaming at his staff. We asked for a bread basket or something to tie us over while we waited, and the server said "if you pay for it." We were on the patio with a party of six but the tables seat four--when we assumed we could just push the tables together, the server said it was "against the rules" and if we did it the owner would see it on the security camera and be angry. But when we got our bill, the gratuity was included because that is their policy for parties of 6 or more--yet it's also their policy that parties of 6 or more can't sit together on the patio? Insanity. We won't be back.

Last night I ordered a steak at La Strada. We never received our salads before our food arrived. We would have never recieved them at all if I hadn't said something.The steak was completely bland, tasteless and was just drowned in butter to the point it was swimming in grease. The garlic potatoes were not fresh, the consistency was awful and inedible. I suspect they were made from frozen. When the waiter came over and asked if the food was OK I told him the problem with the food. HE apologized and said he would take it away.Everything was fine until I heard the chef who was in the kitchen say - "This is an Italian restaurant, we are not a steakhouse, what do they expect." I will tell you what I expected. I expected that if steak was offered on the menu that they knew how to season and cook it. Pretry straightforward. Why would you offer any items on your menu if you knowingly don't know how to prepare it? Apparently this is too much to ask at this "Italian" restaurant.Due to the poor service, 45 minute cook time, forgotten and poorly prepared food I would NEVER recommend this restaurant.

The food was good and not so good. I had the veal francaise and it was delightful. My wife had the manicotti and it was dismal. I guess there were three stuffed pasta tubes on the dish covered in a forgettable sauce. You couldn't distinguish the pasta tubes as everything was mashed together. It was tasteless and disappointing. The restaurant is small and nicely appointed. They appear to be more interested in upcharging for extra salad dressing than serving an exemplary meal.
