La Nopalera Mexican Restaurant

We came in and there was no one at the hosts stand so we waited 2 minutes before walking farther into the restaurant. We saw a worker sitting at a table we asked if she worked here she said she was on her break. Then we asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves and she said no we need to wait for someone to seat us in a rude tone. Our server was Ingrid and she was so nice. Even though there was a language barrier she tried her best to understand us. I got the frozen mango margarita which was delicious and very strong. I also got al pastor taco which we seasoned well and nice and juicy. It also came with a hot sauce that really enhance the flavor. Overall the food more than made up for the initial bad service and I would definitely order door dash from here!

This place is one of my guilty pleasures. It's around the corner from me and way too easy for a quick stop on the way home.....it's rarely crazy busy and I can usually pick my seat, the servers are nice, the atmosphere is comforting and their margaritas are potent. Instead of ice cream after a doctor's visit (which I hate), I take myself to La Nop for fresh salsa, a taco, queso and a margarita!! The one in San Marco has a nice outdoor seating area as well!

Incredible food for a low cost. Puts anything North of here to shame. After spending years in the North devoid of any decent Mexican, this blew my expectations. By far the best and fullest Steak California burrito I've ever had. The Tacos were packed full of delicious well seasoned, tender meat. Cheers to the cook staff for an incredible job well done. The chips weren't the absolute best but who cares when your burrito is over 2.5 lbs?

Very delicious, I love this place..... The food is fresh and hot... the service is great and the restaurant is very clean

This location doesn't serve the same thing as other locations. Nevertheless the food is still delicious with phenomenal service. They are not stingy with the meat portions. Huge cups as well.

Our waitress was great as was the food. However, we were given a bill for food that we did not order and was almost double what our bill should have been. When we talked to the floor manager, he said "it's about the same as what your bill would have been. It's fine" and refused to correct the bill. Food was good but except to be cheated on the bill.

One thing that rings true for most Mexican restaurants and cuisine...when you eat there, you best bet to bring your "A Game" at all times."A Game" in this case as in "Appetite".Ever have that feeling of eating so much and by the time you look at what is left over, there are still plenty of food left to eat? LaNop does that, definitely gives generous amounts of food. I love their Tacos, Chimichangas and Fajitas. Now I have added to the fave list, the Molcajefe, which is new on the menu. Similar to Fajitas which is served on a hot flat iron plate, Molcajete is served on a piping hot Molcajete bowl. Just mix up the bowl and serve. It is so good. It has became my new favorite. And yes, I am happy to say that despite how much of the Molcajete you eat, you will still have enough left over. It is enough to feed 1-3 people in my opinion.I've eaten at this LaNop location many times before, especially with my Dad. The service has always been consistent. The food comes out timely and as expected.Start me off with the Chips and Salsa and I am good to go.See you soon LaNop.

This place is no good my whole plate of food was like mush like it had been put through a blender just go to Taco Bell you don't have another option

I have held off making this review and continued to give this location chance after chance. However, I officially believe this to be the worst La Nopelara location in Jacksonville. For starters, service is always incredibly slow. And typically there are only 4-6 total other tables. I have had to flag down servers that weren't mine multiple times for checks, refills, straws, utensils, you name it. And as mentioned, it's not typically busy when this is happening, despite there visibly being 3-5 servers working, most on their phones. Secondly, I always order the same dish with the same simple modification (sub grilled chicken for shredded) and every time I am told it can't be done, then they have to go chase down a manager and someone in the kitchen, before coming back and saying ok. It's a three ingredient plate- chicken, tortilla, and cheese, so this is a simple modification. Next- pricing. A pitcher of margaritas (flavored) is 19.99 at every other location. Here, it is 28.99. Same with by the glass-- the Kingsley location says $5.99 a glass on their website, the menu here is $9.49. They have the drink prices almost doubled comparatively to other locations. The website for this location actually says $23.99 when you few their menu, but the menu that comes to the table and the price they charge is 28.99. I understand price variations by location, however, this is a big jump and adds to the dinner bill quickly. The food quality (and how quickly ...well, slowly) at this location does not hold a candle to the other locations. Finally, I have had the misfortune of seeing a COCKROACH crawling across the top of the booth while I was eating. I alerted the manager at the time and did not want to leave a review about it, but at this point it has added to a number of cumulative bad experiences. I don't enjoy being the person to leave this negative of a review, however, after 10+ poor experiences, I hope management does something to improve this location for future guests as I certainly do not want to return.

Food good. Service awful. No one cares and we got an xtra charge. Not on person addressed us when we came in. 3x and you are OUT.
