5 stars because I found my dream shark tooth! It was also such a beautiful beach. It's only $5 per car and it's open until 8 pm. Loved it and great spot for finding shells, sea glass, and shark teeth!

It was a sunny Saturday morning, and Jake was excited to go to Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park with his family. He had heard that the park had a lot of fun things to do, like surfing, kayaking, biking, and camping. He packed his backpack with his swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and snacks, and hopped into the car with his parents and his little sister, Mia.They arrived at the park after a short drive, and Jake was amazed by the sight of the ocean. He could see the waves crashing on the shore, and the surfers riding them with skill and grace. He wanted to try surfing, but he had never done it before. He asked his dad if he could take a surfing lesson, and his dad agreed. They went to the camp store, where they rented a surfboard and a wetsuit, and signed up for a beginner's class. Jake was nervous, but also eager to learn.Meanwhile, Mia and her mom decided to go kayaking on the lake. They rented a tandem kayak, and put on their life jackets. They paddled around the lake, enjoying the breeze and the birds. They saw some ducks, turtles, and fish in the water, and Mia tried to feed them some bread crumbs. She giggled as the ducks quacked and the fish splashed. She loved being on the water with her mom. After an hour, Jake and his dad met up with Mia and her mom at the picnic area. They had a lot of fun stories to share. Jake told them how he learned to stand up on the surfboard, and how he caught his first wave. He also showed them his souvenir, a seashell necklace that the instructor gave him. Mia told them how she saw a lot of animals on the lake, and how she sang songs with her mom. She also showed them her souvenir, a colorful bracelet that she made at the craft station. They ate their sandwiches and chips, and drank some lemonade. They were happy and hungry, and they enjoyed their meal. They decided to go biking next, and they rented some bikes from the camp store. They rode on the trails, exploring the park. They saw some beautiful flowers, trees, and butterflies. They also saw some squirrels, rabbits, and deer. They stopped at a scenic spot, where they took some pictures and selfies. They smiled and posed, and they looked like a happy family. They returned their bikes, and went to the splash park. They changed into their swimsuits, and ran into the water. They played with the fountains, slides, and buckets. They splashed, sprayed, and soaked each other. They laughed and screamed, and they had a blast. They dried off, and changed into their clothes. They were tired, but satisfied. They decided to end their day with some camping. They rented a cozy cabin, and unpacked their stuff. They made a fire, and roasted some marshmallows. They made some s'mores, and ate them with delight. They told some stories, and sang some songs. They cuddled in their sleeping bags, and looked at the stars. They felt warm, cozy, and happy. They had a wonderful day at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, and they couldn't wait to come back again.

This was a great stay with tons of Pros! It's a huge campground with rows and rows of spaces. Each nicely spaced out and surrounded by beautiful greenery and palm trees. This park included a security code to get in, bike trails, hiking trails, laundry, bathhouses, and the beach within walking distance. I noticed that no park rangers ever came through and quite a few spots near me were very filled and very loud, not respecting the quiet times. I wish someone came around to enforce this. The other con is the bathhouses. They were filled with mold and chipped paint, especially the showers.

Came here for a family camping trip and the park was everything. Fairly good sized lots for tent camping. Not fat from the beach and no crazy party campers. Will be back

Love this location! From the walking trails to different spot locations of the beach. If you like more of a beach not so crowded this is the place! Great place for camping too. Entrance fee is $5 per vehicle but they do have a year membership which is worth it if you're here often to get away.

Hanna Park has it all. We surfed, rented bikes, rode trails through the jungle and down the beach, explored Florida wetlands and wildlife, and bought candy, soda, and ice at the store, all without ever leaving Hanna Park. We spent a whole weekend exploring here and never ran out of things to do and beautiful things to look at. The park seems well staffed and patrolled, so we felt very safe the whole time.Hanna Park is definitely the most fun campground in the south! A great place to come with friends or family (including/especially if you have kids).Only complaint: The bathhouses are horrible. Worse than other campgrounds. They need more toilets installed (there's only 1-2 per bathhouse) and more regular upkeep (like 2x/Day)

In A Nutshell:-Hanna Park is a wonderful park located in the northeastern part of JAX, right next to Jacksonville Beach.-You will pay an entrance fee to enter during your hours of operation (8am to 8pm).-This sucks slightly b/c if you enjoy running or exercising earlier in the morning, you'll have to postpone your workout until 8am.-Once you are inside you can find many parking lots.-The park is unique b/c it covers various terrain such as the ocean, swampy forests & freshwater ponds.-There are many trails for both bikes & pedestrians.-It's best to do a basic map recon & plan out your route, but if you don't have time, you can just get lost & follow the trails.Overall, becareful when you running in the swampy area b/c there are alligator warning signs.

I don't normally like the beaches of Jacksonville, but I didn't know about this one. It is so beautiful and so clean and not crowded. The beach sand is so white and the water is really clean and pretty. It's also a state park so it has other amenities like a playground, a water pad, a picnic area, snowcone vendor, it has camping sites and places to fish. It really has something for everyone. Little kids, big kids, just a really great state park, worth paying for sure.

Never disappoints. I usually come here by myself or just with the kids but today we brought the dogs for the first time. It was an overall great experience! We managed to find parking quickly at lot 5. We walked a minute or 2 to the left of the boardwalk and found a very large empty area we could sit/run with the kids and dogs and not be bothered. Cops/rescue cars were regularly patrolling by to make sure everyone was okay (and didn't present any additional problems) in the absence of lifeguards, which was comforting. On another note, we've also held one of my daughters birthday parties here about 3 years ago and it was a wonderful experience. Reserving a pavilion was easy and all of our guests were able to find parking by us easily. We saw many parties going on today as well and everyone seemed to be having a great time

I like the Hanna Park for several reasons. The park is at the northern Jacksonville which has less tourists at the beach. The pay state park fees and the distance from metropolitan area has reduced the beach crowd. I like peaceful beach. Hanna is beach state park collect small fees which I think is worthwhile. The park is not just beaches. It has access to the lake park which I think if you like the wooden area. Many enjoy the bike ride on the Woden section. There is huge playground area near the lake park. You can discover many bird species stay at the middle island of the lake. It look like bird sanctuary. You can kayak at the lake. There are plenty of trails. You can play dish golf too. The beach access divided in 11 sections. The northern section which is section 1 is close to naval station. This section has the most wave. Section 8 is the most people due to facilities allow for wash down after swimming in the ocean. Bathroom can be found on section 3, 6, 8 and the lake park.
