Easy parking. Busy with lots of pups. Almost all dirt with grass only around the edges. Most people minded their dogs, but of course, some let their dog "free-range" with no supervision. So if things got "tense" between some dogs, there was no one paying attention to controlling their pet.Overall, it is still one of my main choices for letting my pup have some free time to play.

Searching for True Love & Forgiveness?Talk to GOD and get a DOG!#ReflectDogs Love & ForgivenessFirst and foremost, this is a very nice dog park. But when you compare it to the past few dog parks in the area it seems a little lacking? There is a nice concrete walkway that goes all the way around the park, there are multiple benches to sit down on and some of them are even shaded. There are multiple concrete things for the dogs to play on including holes to run through. There are poop bag holders all along the concrete pathway. The entry area is nicely gated and is mostly concrete. I'm parking is very very convenient as it's right in front of the gate. I wondered why they called it the dog park and playground but once you get here you'll notice they have four separate fenced-in areas one is a big dog park one is a small dog park one is two concrete basketball cards and one is the kids play area with a swing set and a nice shaded area for them to play Under.

It was really clean and it was a pretty big space. My dog wasn't quite ready to be in with the big dogs because she's six months old and terrified, but we are working our way up. I think eventually we will get there.

Love this park! My dog loves to have some free time to explore . Great place to take kids due to it being a playground not to far away.

Great dog park, all the pet parents are super friendly here and watch out for each other's dogs. They have a small dog and large dog area also. Water bowl and pool are available as well. Our pup always comes home exhausted!!

My dogs had a blast at the dog park, it was set up nice with 1 side for big dogs & the other for smaller breeds. It was pretty clean, owners picked up after their pets. Dogs there were not to aggressive.

John Gorrie Dog Park is a relatively new park, located in a previously neglected spot on the northwest side of Riverside Park, bordering I-10. (Unfortunately, because of that location, it has been affected by the interstate construction and part of the park is no longer usable. It will be put back to it's previous state when construction is over with.)Dog parks are a fantastic idea for dogs who don't have a safe fenced in yard of their own and like to play well with others. (If a dog cannot play well with other dogs, then they should only come here when there are no other dogs around.) One side of the park is for large dogs and the other side is for small ones. It's for safety reasons. (Sadly, not every human observes that.) Humans are to remain with their dogs and supervise them at all time, but like humans with children at playgrounds, that doesn't always happen. Water and feces bags are provided, but it's best to bring your own, just in case. Humans should pick up their dog feces, but like I mentioned with children, sometimes that doesn't happen either. Hah. (Come on now, you've seen discarded diapers in parking lots, right?)I give this park a solid 5 stars and the people who go here a 1, so 3 stars for now.Parking is located on both sides of College Street, look both ways, people speed terribly there.

I think Kerry C's review hit the nail on the head. For an unmonitored dog park, the experience boils down to the people who happen to be there when you're there.Doggie bags to pick up you know what, two completely fenced-in areas (more than 25 lbs. and less than 25 lbs.), water dispensers, etc. It's a fully functioning dog park. My new(ish) pup of two months doesn't have a fenced-in yard, so I'd assume we'll add John Gorrie to the rotation.Maybe it was because it was one of those dreary, bleek days but the people there weren't in the nicest of moods. Our dog is super friendly and wants to play with other dogs and humans. What I've noticed is that a dog is only as good as their owner. However, the extension of Riverside Park near the basketball courts is a win for the area. Curry loved running around and as expected, was totally exhausted when we got home. I had so much fun with her that I didn't even snap a pic. Shame on me, Matt. Shame on me!

Great FREE dog park right in Riverside! The park has people who tend to the park (Thank you!) and also has a volunteer clean up day if you wish to join in. Great size for the big and small dog parks. There always is toys and balls left behind and donated to the park. Tends to always have multiple people there w dogs at most times I have gone. The biggest thing I can say was they drastically improved the water situation. They had moved one of the water stations in a dirt area and it was ALWAYS muddy... which the dogs always got into. Not bad if it's once in a while but it made me not come to the park as much as I wanted to, because it was always bath time incentive we got home. THEY DRASTICALLY IMPROVED THE WATER STATION. They put a concrete small concrete platform for the dogs surrounded by gravel and it's completely changed the game! No more mud! So now we come up ALL THE TIME! Kudos dog park park team!

When this dog park gets busy it's definitely a free for all and not a good place for little pups. But the newly opened addition should or could help that. Plenty of water and dog bags available so that's good. We usually try to go during the week.
