Please note that this review is based on my visit nearly a year ago. I took good notes, though, and still wanted to share. And, those shrimp & grits are beckoning me ...On our first morning in Flagler Beach, we were disappointed that the restaurant next to our motel was closed. As we drove north toward the fishing pier, we remembered a snowbird at dinner the night prior had mentioned the Christmas parade was that day, so we continued driving north on A1A to escape the traffic. After spotting Java Joint, and noticing the crowded deck, I called to ask about the wait & also confirm that they offered dog-friendly dining. I was told dogs were welcome & the wait would be 45-60 minutes. But as it was a breezy overcast morning, we didn't mind dawdling. We ended up waiting only a few minutes after arriving, and enjoyed a table on the side deck with a peekaboo view of the ocean. I really liked that the tables here were far apart enough that Gilligan wasn't easily distracted by other diners. And service was good in spite of the crowds. The highlight for me at Java Joint was my half bowl of shrimp & grits. Those grits were deliciously thick & creamy, and had zero spice, which my conservative palette appreciated. And the giant shrimp were perfectly cooked. The combination was outstanding!I also ordered the breakfast burrito but that was a big miss for me. It was large, but the proportioning was terrible. The burrito had way too much potato which suffocated the eggs & cheese. And I love love LOVE potatoes.Hubs ordered a burger & really enjoyed it. The local-ish beer I chose was tasty. We definitely found a not-so-secret gem here in Flagler Beach, and I absolutely want those shrimp & grits again. We'll be back when we're on this stretch of Florida's east coast again.

Went here for the first time today. Group of five meant we had to wait a bit for a table. But we had a great table outside. But with the heat we asked if we could move inside and it was quick and efficient. The food was outstanding! Out party all got different things and no one was disappointed. Can't wait to come back. Also love that they have merch for sale.

Great view of the beach!! Wife and I sat outside. Food was fantastic and service was great. Prices were also very reasonable, which isn't usually the case with beachfront restaurants. Portions were also large. Best breakfast you can get!!

Let me start by saying the staff is outstanding! They take care of you (and your dog outside) like royalty. Like you're the only table they have. The food is also outstanding. My daughter had one of their seasonal pumpkin iced coffees and it was very good. I don't really pay attention to coffee taste but the coffee was extremely good. Its always hot and they refill your cup before you get to ask. We had the crab Benedict and my daughter loved it. She's picky too. We had the eggs, potatoes and sour dough bread as our toast. Again, very good. As I mentioned, we were with our dog so we sat outside. The atmosphere is a cool beachy vibe. I can't say enough good things about the employees. It started to rain and the employees always kept a smile on their face considering they were working with the rain blowing. The outdoor area is covered. You can't go wrong eating here.

This was a great stop for an early morning breakfast. We had a beautiful view of the beach, the specialty coffee was on point, and the service was amazing. The food was good and the menu had some good options. I wouldn't call the food great, but definitely a solid breakfast.
