Exterior of Willowbranch Library
Holiday display table, featuring Halloween themed books and DVDs, found near the "front" door.
This thing is tall, y'all. If you drive a little car, like me, you have to get out to reach the book drop opening!
Inspired By my visit to The Players Championship
Michael is mean spirited and rude!!

The Jax (Willowbranch) Public Library, located in Riversides Historic District, is my second favorite library in Jacksonville (The Downtown Branch is hands down #1). I don't think many people would disagree with that. The Willowbranch Library may look like an old courthouse from the outside, but it's has much much more to offer on the inside. It's peaceful, well designed and easy to navigate. They have computers with internet access for children as well as adults. Their staff is extremely helpful with helping you find whatever information you're looking for. They don't the widest selection of books to check-out, however, they will search every Library in town to see if they can get you what you need, or point you in the right direction. It's a great place to take the kids too, if you can convince your kids to actually go . There is a park with a playground, basketball court and baseball field directly behind the Library as well. If you're looking for a good public library, you might want to take a trip to this one. It may be small in size but they've packed a lot in this little place. Stay Yelping my friends!

I absolutely love this library and I've only recently started going there on a weekly basis because I discovered that they have an AMAZING story time session for kids (babies to 5 year old toddlers). I have literally told every parent I know that they should check it out, because it's so fun, and free!! Duh, a no brainer for me! On top of that, the staff members have all been super friendly and helpful! I asked if they had French books on my first visit, and I was shown how to find them in other libraries online and have them shipped to them (for free) so I can pick them up and borrow them. Definitely a great library , on top of being in a beautiful location by the Willowbranch park.

Willowbranch Library is my favorite, hands down, of all the Duval County library branches. It's gorgeous on the outside and the cathedral ceilings and wooden bookshelves on the inside make you almost think you've gone back in time.We call it The Little Library that CAN! It has books (of course), cds, dvds, magazines, computers for research and internet, free wifi, a lovely children section, a meeting room, clean bathrooms, and an elevator. Thanks to the inter-library loan system (brilliant!) you can order any book in the county and have it delivered to your branch for you to pick up (and drop off). In other words, if they don't have it, they should be able to get it for you!The parking lot is small (and on Wednesday nights, full of people attending the church across Cherry Street (grr)) but you can park on Cherry Street and near the ball park without a problem. Plenty of bike space for those who want to ride here.

This neighborhood public library has always felt like home to me. I've been coming her for over 10 years and have yet to write a review. I've truly taken it for granted. The building is next to the Willowbranch Park with a baseball field. They have a small parking lot which makes it convenient to visit. The building is quite beautiful built in 1929-30. The basement is the Children's section. The upper floor is for adults. They have a nice reading room past the checkout area. There's also a reading room where you'll find magazines & periodicals. They have a lot of DVDs to choose from but beware, they charge a $1 per day for overdue DVDs. There is an elevator - wheelchair friendly.I love the online app that allows me to reserve books. This library offers a lot of services including meeting rooms, mentoring program, income tax assistance by non-profit orgs during tax season, children's special programs and many others. For more information here's a link. https://www.jaxpubliclibrary.org/services. Though there are many branches of the public library this one is not too big, just the right size and will always be home to me.

In 2017 the Jax Public Library won library of the year for the state of the Florida and there is quite a few reasons why. Our home branch is Willowbranch and we readily use it as a source of entertainment for my 1 year old daughter. On Tuesdays Mr. Joe hosts Music and Movement at 1030 and 1100. Tip: show up at 1000 to get a card for the 1030 session, it fills up fast. They have over 120 kids and parents come in to sing, dance, read, and play. On Friday at 1030 Ms. Jeanie has an art project that you get to take home and continue learning on your own. She puts a lot of forethought into the topic and has a tremendous amount of patience. It is a small library but we always find new things to read and the building is beautiful. After you explore the library, you can play at Willowbranch park or go to the public garden on the corner of Park St and Remmington.

Here is another library in Jacksonville to consider. The Willowbranch Library is very nostalgic, yet decent in terms of the architecture. This library has what a library has: books and computers. This library can improve if they can create a Teen Advisory Board and create more activities targeted for teenagers. However, if you are in Jacksonville, consider coming to this library on the Riverside of town.
