Jacksonville Golf & Country Club

A gated community with a nice golf course, tennis courts, I even seen a basketball court and more.Plenty to do and well maintained.

Went to go visit a friend who lives here and it is a gated community. The gate keepers are very thorough so make sure you've been called in prior to coming if you're visiting someone or you may be waiting at the gate awhile. Right when you drive in, you see the beauty of the greens and the golfers enjoying their day. The roads are easily marked with signs and the gate keeper is very helpful giving directions once you're cleared to go inside. There are tons of big houses and very friendly people. Watch your speed as there is a policeman who patrols the area. Other than that, it is a super safe community where kids can actually play outside without having to worry about them too much.

This is a great little track for golf. My buddy made the reservation on Golf Now and saved us a few bucks, about $35 a person.We checked in with the starter and grabbed a scorecard. 1st hole has a narrow fairway and lined down one side with homes so keep it in play. Overall the course is challenging but not difficult. I was able to get a birdie on #3 and a few assorted pars along the way. I also encountered a small alligator sunning on the bank of hole # 16, that was a little unnerving but my buddy stood guard with his driver ready to fend him off if needed.

Jacksonville Golf and Country Club is another one of Jacksonville's private, elite style neighborhoods located on Beach Blvd... an area that was formerly nothingville that since the incarnation of these places [Queen's Harbor, Marsh Landing, etc] has turned into a commercial chain metropolis. This Country Club is located inside a neighborhood and is housed inside a beautiful plantation house and lush landscaping. It screams of Southern Charm and Hospitality, with a mentality to match.This neighborhood is really pretty. It has wonderfully groomed landscaping, large lots, large homes, a great golf course. I guess if this is your kind of thing, then this is a beautiful place. I personally prefer a little more character and charm, something new houses seem to lack. All the homes here are newly built [relatively, these days] and are kind of cookie cutter McMansion style homes, but they are definitely nice. Living here does come with some amount of status and you will be sure to have a nice, clean, new home to live in. If these things are at the top of your priority list, this is a great neighborhood to scope out when looking for a home!

Just spent the day here working a wedding. The atmosphere is ok just felt trapped in the '90s. The food is amazing. Not sure if they cook it fresh or warm up frozen food. The weeding was so beautiful being outside and all. Did I mention the food! lol

I attended a Wine Tasting for Break Thru Beverage last night at this club. I was very impressed with Adam Abbott, the clubhouse manager, and his staff. They were very attentive and prepared an extensive array of tasty appetizers for this event. It is definitely worth checking this club community out if you are looking for a home in the Jacksonville area.

I went to a rehearsal dinner here last week and I must say, it is a beautiful property. The dinner was in the clubhouse and we were given an open bar. I must say, the bartenders working really did a great job of keeping the drinks flowing quickly.Onto the food: It was a Southern style buffet complete with pulled pork with 4 different BBQ sauces. I was really impressed to see Eastern Carolina BBQ sauce as that is not something that I come across often. I also really enjoyed the shrimp and rice and the cornbread. There was an ice cream sundae bar for dessert, which of course peaked my interest!I can't really say much about the golf course as I don't golf, however, this is a great place for events!

I could go on and on about how JGCC has positively impacted my life in Jacksonville. As a recent transplant from Arizona, this club and community are exactly what my family needed. Pros -- Sense of Community: It felt like we had only been in Jax for a month and we already had an entourage of friends. Everyone we met was friendly, engaging, and looking for fun.- Events: The calendar is jam-packed with social events. Whether it is a BBQ on the lawn, a family pool party, or just a week night happy hour, the club is always abuzz and a guaranteed great time.- Childcare: I use the Kids' Clubhouse several times a week to work out or grab dinner with friends. Miss Francis and the other staff are loving and trustworthy and I feel 100% confident when my son is in their care.- Golf: Impeccably maintained course with many competitive events. Wish we could get out more!- Fitness: My favorite thing is that each machine has its own television. Also, you can schedule a massage or facial right at the club.- Tennis: 10 (I think) clay tennis courts and a plethora of incredible themed events. Bill Gist knows how to throw a party and run a tennis program.Cons- - The club is closed on Mondays.

My wife and I played the course a few days ago while visiting from Louisville, Kentucky. We are both high handicap golfers and found the course to be exceptional for golfers of all types. The course conditions were impeccable. The greens were very challenging and made for an even better day of golf. We also had lunch and enjoyed the dining room food and atmosphere. The employees everywhere were friendly and attentive. We look forward to playing there again.
