I saw that the Island Girl Seafood truck was nearby and I went over to see what they offered. Having been unfamiliar with them, I did a quick yelp search and reviewed their paper menu. I ended up ordering the coconut shrimp, which the person who took my order said was one of their specialties and I added on the coconut hush puppies. Given that they had a huge sign saying that their cheese balls were amazing, I grabbed an order the mozzarella ones as well. I must admit that I was a little confused as to why a seafood place was selling cheese balls...but, oh well, I love fried cheese.I was told that since I hadn't placed my order online ahead of time, as I didn't know that was an option, my order would take 52 minutes. I was given a time to return to the truck. Nearly an hour wait is a long time for truck food. I tend to think of food trucks as a great go-to for a quick meal. I mean, even an hour wait in a restaurant for food is a ridiculously long time. Nevertheless, I agreed and paid.My order was ready right on time! I was able to skip the line when I arrived back there and received their text and everything was correct when I checked the boxes before leaving. Nearly everything was also overly fried including the french fries which were dark in color, hard, and difficult to eat. The shrimp were large and nicely breaded and they had a good flavor to them. But the coconut hush puppies were burnt in places and had no appreciable seasoning or flavor aside from coconut pieces. I guess I was expecting the usual spices in a hush puppy with the addition of coconut. And the cheese "balls" were melted discs of breading around some of the cheese. They were still edible but not what was advertised. I remember trying a brie ball from Nomi's Cheese Bar at Gastrofest years ago and what I got was much more successful back then (see pic). It looks like these companies have merged or perhaps they are the same folks?!?!The issues on the night that I went may have been because of the crowd or because their oil temperature was too high. I wish I had tried something that didn't require a fryer to be able to better asses their flavors. This truck seems to have potential but I just didn't have a great experience, particularly given the relatively high costs of the food.

Found the food truck at the Orange Park Farmer's Market, they had a pretty solid menu but no fried fish tacos so I opted for the coconut fish sandwich. I think this would have pretty good had it not been overcooked and it needed something to tie it together but no...... The only hot sauce they have is Texas Pete and for island themed food that just ain't going to cut it. Would like to try these guys again but I'll come prepared next time. BTW my tab + tip for this sandwich was $18.50.

Ordered the coconut fish sandwich with a side of coconut rice. The fish was overcooked, dry and lacked flavor. Sandwich was plain as can be. The coconut rice wasn't much better either. Definitely wasn't worth the $16 plus tip. At least the pineapple salsa was decent and the only thing with flavor...

Island Grill Seafood was a sight for sore eyes in my neighborhood last week. We have been blessed with some yummy food trucks during these strange times. And thankfully neighbors are praticing social distancing. They had prepared food and placed it on a table so you could see what you were buying before ordering. I chose the fried haddock and coconut hush puppies. Both were deliscious! First, the coconut hush puppies were unlike anything I had ever tried. I love coconut, and these puppies packed a huge amount! They were big in size so I only ate one with dinner. Plus the dipping sauce was a perfect pairing with the coconut. I shared the order of four with my niece. The haddock exceeded my expectations! The piece of fish was huge so I split it into two meals. The fish was flaky and the batter was nice and thin how I like it. And packed with yummy flavor! I heated the remainder on my baking stone the next day and it was oh so good.I will most definitely try another meal when Island Girl pops up in my neighborhood again!

Had been hearing so many great things about Island Girl Seafood so when we saw they were going to be coming to our neighborhood he knew we had to grab dinner from them. Ashley isn't a big seafood fan but I was able to convince her since they also had amazing sounding cheese balls as well. We were worried the wait could be very long so we ordered online ahead of time. It was quick and easy though there was a $1 convenience fee but as soon as we arrived for our pick up time they called our name.We ordered the Coconut Haddock Sandwich, the Coconut Shrimp both with fries, the Deep Fried Brie Balls, and the Pepper Jack Balls. Yeah we probably went a little overboard but everything sounded so good and saw saw they were not going to be in our neighborhood again any time soon. Now I'm not normally a big fan of coconut but the Haddock Sandwich sounded so good I had to risk it... and great thing I did!!! That was one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had and probably the best I have had in Jacksonville. Ashley doesn't ever like fish and through this was amazing. The fries that came with it was just alright but I didn't come here for fries so I didn't really care. Now on to the cheese balls. Both the Brie and Pepper Jack were amazing. Light crispy batter with amazing cheese pull. I couldn't tell you which I preferred. Though the Brie comes with Raspberry Preserves and the Pepper Jack comes with Ranch so it's on you to decide. Amazing food truck and I can't wait for these ladies to return!!!

Island Girl Seafood was parked at Art Walk last night and man were they slammed. It would've made more sense to us to pick another truck to snack from, but these gals were cranking out food left and right. They had the most drool-worthy set up I've seen in some time. Listen, they prepared the ENTIRE MENU and PUT IT ON DISPLAY. This resulted in everyone and their mother sneaking a peek for themselves, seeing what the fuss was all about. The Fried Haddock Platter caught my attention from the moment we stepped up and it didn't disappoint. The fish was flakey while remaining in tact. Moist on the inside, crispy on the outside from the batter. I did add some tartar on the side, I wish it was made from scratch though, not a pre-packaged packet. Great flavor! The fries underneath were crispy and tender, too. For $12, I left immensely satisfied. I was even more impressed with their staff who were hustling their butts off during Art Walk. I always get a kick out of restaurants in their groove. Try these gals out!

This is now one of my favorite food trucks! I I'm not big seafood fan but my husband is so we gave this place a try when they came to our neighborhood and I am so glad we did! We ordered the fried Brie balls and the fried pepper jack balls, because we couldn't decide, both were amazing! Seriously I could not pick which one was better they were both so crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. We also ordered the fish sandwich and the coconut shrimp, both were good but the fish sandwich was incredible! I don't like fish and I would have eaten 12 of those sandwiches! It was crispy, flaky and tender. The shrimp was also very good, packed with a good amount of coconut. I highly suggest trying this food truck if it is ever near you, you will not regret it. I can't wait till they come back to my area so I can order everything else on the menu!

It was a welcome surprise to see a seafood food truck. It so bright and colorful, you can't miss it. When toward the truck I noticed someone standing behind the table and thought, "hmm that's different". As I walked up I greeted by this super happy lady. I saw the menu standing on the ground first so I read it. It was a lot. I had questions. As I approached the table then I looked down, I was pleasantly surprised to see all displayed in full plated form! All of the meals on the menu! I even said, "I had questions but this answers them all!" I chose the fried coconut fish, coconut rice, and veggies. The look sautéed. I chose that fish because it seemed to be a larger portion and it was. I was pleased. Everything tasted amazing. One of the better food trucks, in my opinion. I will say it's on the pricey side. My plate cost $15.00 but the portions did. It skimp. I topped it off with a cherry limeade. It comes in one size and is made to order. It's a perfect mix of sweet and sour. The ice didn't even take away. Again, I was pleased. There was so much rice and veggies, I didn't finish it, but I did finish the fish. All of it. Every single drop.

The fried cheese balls are amazing. We had the pepper jack ones and I wish we had ordered more. I had the fried shrimp and the batter was very light so I didn't feel really full and greasy when I was finished. My husband had the fish tacos and he said they were delicious. We will definitely eat here again

The novelty of a "food truck" hit our school today. And, this was the truck the school chose. First thing I noticed, was the aroma, the delicious smell... but the food did not equal the taste. The cook was grumpy.I ordered the shrimp & fries. I received 5 "jumbo" shrimp on a stick and crinkle fries with sprinkled seasoning. Nice crunch to the shrimp. I did not get any sauces, (I guess I should have asked for some but was needing to sit down, waiting in the long line was uncomfortable for me & I was ready to go inside). The shrimp would not slide off of stick with fork, so they were hard to eat and the tails were still on the end of the shrimp. Taking orders, cooking food, and taking money, so I know he was very busy man, but there was no reason to be rude either, we were not doing him a favor by ordering his food.We had 30 minutes for lunch, and waiting in the line took up 1/2 that time.
