We ended up at Horse & Hounds after going to the equestrian center in Ocala. The food and service was pretty good. Our group ordered buffalo shrimp, pretzel, a kids meal with mac and cheese, and two different types of fish, and some type of prime rib or steak dish. The fish was good, and our friend said his prime rib was good, but "nothing to write home about." The standouts were the appetizers and the kids mac and cheese.I was happy with my meal, but I'll probably try another restaurant next time I'm in Ocala.

This is our local dive bar restaurant. The food is usually surprisingly decent and the drinks are strong and flowing. Since it is only 7 minutes from our house we are there quite often. It gets crowded with the horse crowd so there is always a familiar face there which is nice.

We stopped this past Sunday at Horse and Hounds after sitting for 10 minutes at elevation 89 with no acknowledgment whatsoever.So glad we stopped in!!We had the beer cheeseburger and the fish and chips, which were both excellent. The cheeseburger was ordered medium rare, and it actually was medium rare, which is difficult to get in most restaurants. Wonderful service and cozy, comfortable atmosphere.

Have not Ben here in 5-6 years and can't believe the shepherds pie is even better than before u cant top the quality of what u get this is the best.my girl freind got steak and cut it with fork and melted in her mouth her first time there ,now she is spoiled and guess I have 2 take her back for more .yes we happyWe only get 5 stars but the sky is the limit thank u horse and hound Christopher & Z

I was at Horse & Hounds yesterday with a large group. My friend and I arrived at 5:25 together. We placed our dinner orders (I ordered the beef tips appetizer as my dinner) and we both ordered the house chardonnay. The food came and although mine was barely warm, I ate it since it was tasty and I'm not in the habit of sending food back. We both received our chardonnay (small portions), and later we each ordered another glass at the same time. When the bill came, my friends wine was charged as $5.50 ($11.00 total) a glass, and mine was 6.50 ($13.00 total) a glass. I pointed this out to our server, and she insisted that it was because of happy hour times, which was impossible, because we ordered at exactly the same time. I didn't want to make a big fuss because it's only $2.00, but I thought she would acknowledge her mistake which didn't happen.

We went last night and ordered some Flame grilled sirloin. We sat outside where it was a bit dark, My husband ordered the 9 oz, for $20.00 I ordered 6 oz, (no price shown on the menu) But I supposed it was less than 20. First the waitress brought us the wrong bill for 38.00 and we noticed because it had tacos and drinks. When she brought our bill it was for 49.00 and we were surprised and confused as to why so much. We were told the side dishes are extra. (The side of rice pilaf was super small, like kids size. We never knew this or were made aware of this. We each ordered 2 sides like we normally do, when she asked us if we wanted anything else. I can't imagine meat with no sides. On top of this, we were also charged for paying with a credit card!. The waitress did offer us to get a manager, but never did.
