Historically Hoppy

The photos of this place are not a good representation of what it's like inside. It's extremely dark inside and the decor is dreary. They were out of a lot of beers. What they did have was pretty good, but there were kids in the corner screaming the whole time, so we finally left. The bartender was very nice.

Historically Hoppy is a cool local brewery that has a lot going for it. It has a great vibe, a friendly staff and great products.They have a great selection, including non-alcoholic choices. Jacksonville continues to evolve as a city, or as I spend more time here. I am just finding more places like here. I would definitely recommend checking this place out and I will give it five stars overall.

I came here for the GW Jax Community Conversations about the restoration of Hogans Creek. This is my first time to Historically Hoppy, previously it was Main and Six. A Jax Ale Trail Staple! I recommend the Banana Bread Brown.

Friendly staff! Great selection of brews, including a few wine selections. Nice interior touches - love the book exchange idea. Excited to see what the future holds for this new brewery!

This was a great place for some yummy beers! They are kid friendly and dog friendly. They even have a little kid "playpen" indoors. It was a great place after our toddlers spent 6hrs in the car. The beer was great too!

My partner and I walked in on Sunday because we live in Springfield and try and support all of the local businesses. It was around 2:30 PM and I had to look in the window to see if it was open because it was so empty inside. This is strange because Springfield was busy. The food truck park was packed, they had a large projector broadcasting the Jaguar game along with several food stands. Dreamette Ice Cream had a line out the back, people were walking down the side walk, yet Historically Hoppy was empty.We finally walk in, see one bartender and a single couple sitting at the bar. The decor is cute, I like the look of the place, but it's lifeless. It would be very awkward just sitting there alone drinking a beer so I asked if they would put the game on. The bartender explained there was a small retro CRT television around the corner complete with tiny chairs for children.I asked the bartender if there were any other TVs and he said no. He said the bar explicitly refuses to get TVs and if we wanted to watch sports, Strings is down the road.This is just a colossal failure of ownership to understand their market. This bar is 2 miles from an NFL stadium. It's suicide to refuse to show NFL games (or TV). I would argue this is a large reason why the bar is always empty. People in Jax, Springfield especially, love sports. Drive around and look at the hundreds of sports flags that people fly on their porch. These are your customers and this is the market you picked establish a business. I understood the hipster book idea, but it can't sustain a business. Ultimately, this bar will never make it here. The branding is poor, the name is awkward and ownership doesn't understand market forces. If no one is drinking in your bar, it's time to pivot and try something else. The people have spoken. As someone who has spent twenty years in creative marketing and branding, I hold firm on this. Oh well. Crispys was great fun. The bar was packed, the game was on every TV and it stayed that way until 2AM.

Good beer, service, and atmosphere! Cucumber beer is so refreshing. Hubs liked the banana nut bread brown beer.

Family owned and operated brewery. Nice clean atmosphere for refreshing beers and relaxed conversation. Staff are eager to please and attentive to patrons.
