I went in because I live in the area. Duane was a God sent. He did my three year old daughter's first hair cut and made her feel so at ease. She loved him and her hair looked amazing. I decided to try my thick hair the next day, another win for me. He did it exactly they way I wanted and the service was impeccable. I've never found anyone who was able to cut my hair the way I wanted, he was knowledgeable and knows what he's doing. Thanks Duane. See you again

Heard about Gwynne Mims salon on IG and decided to take a chance and get a haircut considering my last haircut was 6 months ago. The salon is located in Riverside by Al's Pizza. The salon is very cute and has a quaint feel. I like the open feel and not so busy. I was greeted by Gwynne and she was a sweetheart!I came in not knowing what I want done so Gwynne helped me figure out what to gear towards. Got layers and volume added, something that my split end hair was missing. Love that they use Oribe products bec it's my favorite and not many salons use it, rare find!Coming back in a few months and may revisit getting highlights done.

* Didn't confirm I knew that my hairstylist was changed* Didn't give what I asked foro Repeatedly asked for something drastic o Asked for bangs* Didn't style me* Haircut was out of date (2001 style)I was very upset leaving, deflated that I looked so boring and unstylish. I booked there and was willing to pay the fee in order to receive something very modern and en vogue. I ended up cutting my own hair at home and then curling it myself. I am not sure if this salon received so many good reviews because London previously worked there but felt the need to write this. I will not be returning.

Let me start by saying that I have always been a lazy hair person. I have a lot of hair and it has never been my friend. I would get my hair cut once a year maybe, and would jump from salon to salon every time. I had Gwynne's salon recommended to me by a friend, and the selling point was how cute the interior was described. Little did I know that I would find what I was missing my whole life (no exaggeration at all!)! Gwynn is the real deal - talented, kind and a joy to be around. She understands my hair, and my laziness and somehow transforms my lazy floppy head into stylish chic that's easy to maintain. She's always willing to take the time to explain styling tips to me, and helped me love my hair again. Most of all, she helps me feel beautiful and confident - and that's something I've never had with my hair. I've happily returned every few weeks to get my hair cut for the past two years. I've never had a stylist who I trusted, and enjoyed their company as much as Gwynne.

After my first appointment at Gwynne Mims I will absolutely be a regular customer for Dwayne! I felt like he really heard me when we were discussing what I wanted, and he asked a bunch of questions to make sure he understood what I was looking for. This is easily the best haircut I've had in a long time. He used some techniques I've never had done (strategic thinning? Miraculous) to address some of the issues I had been having. With other hairdressers, I would ask a question or have a concern and they generally just dismissed it or gave me a canned answer. Dwayne listened and probed I feel like I understand my hair better than ever before! He is a real professional. My hair has never looked better and I'm excited to have my color done soon too!

When I got there, the two women stylists just looked at me like I was invading their meeting or something. No "hello you must be Carla" just a blank stare as they continued to talk amongst themselves. I finally spoke up and then they begrudgingly started getting in gear. Not welcoming or it was too early for them. Pros: place is beautiful, other staff is nice. Oribe products used.Cons: She has a bit of snark to her and a lot of pompousness! Excusable but made me uncomfortable. Its quite expensive, wasn't what I asked for at all, cut is not well done, i.e. It's a bit hacked up, not balance and there is one chunk of short 2 inch piece at the crown that sticks out really bad like a rooster tail, two inch piece next to four inch piace (no blending) bangs. It was supposed too be a chin length, razored bob that flips out ( think a well groomed longer layered, Alice Cullen from twilight) but it's more like Elvira or Joan Jett. Gwynne was nice, seemed talented and relaxed but must have her own ideas of a person's haircit because I was pretty specific and she seemed to get it but what I got was an artistic rendering with liberties. Oh well, it will grow but it was a really expensive cut to be so unhappy. It was obvious when we were done that it wasn't what I wanted, but it seemed cute (after product) so I didn't complain, besides it is too late after the fact you know? We talked as she cut and since it was razored, I couldn't follow what it was supposed to look like as she was going. I am also not one to speak up and complain or anything as I have experienced that making things worse. I find it is better to just go. I am sure she would have tried to make me happy and fix it, even if I called a week later, but I don't trust a stylist that doesn't listen to me the first time especially when I bring in pictures and discuss it before hand. I didn't see the chunk until the next day trying to restyle and do the pic style, which is impossible because it is in no way the same. So, while I'm sure she is wonderful at long hair and color, I would not recommend her for short hair or razored cuts. I will say that it is very punk rock and people seem to like it, though it is Hell to style to get it presentable because it's just hacked up. No flat iron our product can make it work, so I have to get it cut again. I'm told it's edgy and Nicki sixx like lol. Anyway, here is a pic of what I wanted and a bit what it's like.

Part 1: I don't know what happened here. I had high hopes coming into this salon. It all began when I booked an appointment online for a gloss and a haircut. The salon scheduled me for a gloss with London, and online pricing said to be 30.00 for a single gloss. London placed gloss on my hair, and didn't communicate what so ever about pricing to her new client, or what she was doing for that matter. After the gloss, she proceeded to blow dry my hair, and I asked her if we were going to have time for a haircut - which was mentioned on the schedule online. She said no, but later that week I could come back. I proceeded to check out and my total balance was 120.00. I was shocked. An absurd amount for a single process gloss. The receptionist explained to me the gloss was 90.00 and the blow dry was 30.00. I guess my blank expression indicated to the receptionist she should try to fix this. She left for a moment and came back to tell me she can accept 90.00 for the lack of communication. I grin, pay begrudgingly, and think " I do not want to come back here. " Part 2: The next day London calls to apologize on her behalf for not communicating clearly about pricing. I appreciated the gesture of calling, and asked if I could schedule for a wet cut and no blow dry due to poor communication to finish out the service. She said that would be fine. This is when it gets rude. Part 3: I arrive to my appointment and London sees me 20 minutes after my initial time. She does not apologize for the wait and has me sit at the wet bar to begin to wash my hair. I ask her how she is doing, or some rhetorical question to begin our time together, and she barely speaks to me. Instead, she turns to the client next to me who is getting her hair washed, and asked how she is doing, and proceeds with a conversation with her! London takes me to her chair and creates a very awkward atmosphere between her and I. She asked what I wanted and then said pretty much nothing after that. I sat in her chair for a total of 5 minutes while she breezed through my hair cut and chose not to talk to me. I really thought she was the rudest hair dresser I have possibly ever gone to. I ended up having to make an appointment at Frangipani to get another hair cut 3 weeks later because London did absolutely nothing to my hair. I was having a tough time styling due to having no hair style. I was suggested to write a review to aware salon of G.M..

All you need to do is take one look at Instagram (@gwynnemimssalon) to see how amazing this place is, but I will tell you my experience. First and most importantly, Gwynne is an amazing stylist. She really understands the way my hair behaves and how to frame my face and give my not-so-thick hair volume. I kept going to other salons asking for the same haircut and it would fall limp in weeks. Not here. Gwynne is always suggesting colors that could work for me and uses really wonderful products, but you never get the feeling her motives are anything but to give you the best hair you can have. Besides skill, she is a lovely person who gives you an individual experience. You never get the feeling that she's rushing you out to get the next body in the chair. I'm planning a wedding this year and she's been beyond helpful. She has given me great recommendations and connected me with local businesses that I can't wait to work with. I can't believe New York ever let her leave, but I'm so glad she's here. At least go into the salon to see that to-die-for bathroom. Pink flamingos for miles.

I am growing out my dyed hair back to its natural color grey. The bottom portion of my hair is still colored and my hair looked so terrible I didn't bother cutting and styling it. I just pulled it back in a ponytail. I couldn't stand it any longer and booked an appointment with Gwynne at the Gwynne Mims salon. Gwynne did a fabulous cut for me that somehow makes the still colored portion look intentional. Of course my hair looked great leaving the salon. The real test came when I washed my hair, air dried it, and scrunched the waves in it. Gwynne skillfully had layered my hair so that it's natural waviness looks perfect and polished. She is an artist and I highly recommend her beautiful salon.
