Stopped in for some fresh shrimp. I could have bought some of everything in there. The fish and shrimp all looked wonderful. We decided on a couple of pounds of shrimp on sale. We took it to our house and had it for dinner. Very tasty!!

Perhaps it has something to do with the halo effect of being on vacation, but I loved Fisherman's Dock. Could I have really come here three times in five days? I think I did. The first time was shrimp and mahi. The second time was shrimp, mahi, conch fritter batter, and oysters. The third time was for even more shrimp. Are you picking up on a trend? When shopping anywhere, it's clutch to go for the local options, and here it was the shrimp. The largest, local shrimp were just $10 a pound, and they were fabulous. I could eat them every day. Um... I think I pretty much did eat them every day. In part, that is thanks to the flippin' amazing cocktail sauce. Which isn't local. But that doesn't make it any less kickass amazeballs. Kelchner. Remember the name. Delightful, delightful stuff. Even if it happens to be made in Allentown, PA. They have been making it since 1938, when folks weren't fooling around with subpar ingredients. Of course, in St. Augustine we had some datil pepper hot sauce too. The staff was great. All of our questions were answered about where the fish came from. Oysters from Canada. Mahi from Central America (I forget where, maybe Honduras). I appreciated how you could order whole fish, and they would prepare them for you. That way you can inspect the gills and the eyes to pick the best one. We never called ahead to have shrimp peeled and deveined, but the fee per pound to do so felt like a pittance. Most of my shrimp consumption came in the form of boil, peel, and eat, which is good because it slows me down a bit. I shudder to think how many shrimp I would have consumed if they were all ready to shove into my shrimp hole. Without a doubt I'll be back the next time I am in town, which hopefully won't be too long.

This place in my opinion is the best seafood market that I've been to so far. And we've been to 45 states. The seafood is fresh. The staff are friendly. And the price is decent & they offer some discounts too. Like if you check in here at Yelp. Or a loyal customer discount points. I had three kinds of shrimps & pompano. She even clean & cut my fish. I love seafood & this place is my favorite.

We love coming here and getting the freshest seafood. The people are always friendly and willing to give advice on portions. They filet the whole fish for you. There is always a good variety from which to choose. We bought trigger and grouper. We can't wait to eat it.

While the other place was closed I looked up local fishmarket and found this gem of a place. Very friendly staff and lots of fish to choose from. Made a great meal and had a glass of wine from Austria to pair with well.

When we are in St Augustine we always stop to get at least a few meals of fresh seafood. We love to order cooked, shelled and deveined shrimp to eat. This trip we also got fresh swordfish, golden tile and scallops for other meals. It is a great seafood shop. The golden tile was outstanding. A nice white, mild fish that the shoppe recommended.UPDATE --The old seafood market has been sold. We bought some hogfish one night and ordered 2 pounds of shrimp to be cooked, cleaned and deveined. We did not enjoy either meal. The shrimp were old and nit. Leaned well. The hogfish was not fresh either. Need to find a new seafood market.

I'm practically a local because I spend six months out of the year here in St. Augustine. There is only one fresh-seafood store here (this one...if you could call what they sell fresh). The rest of it is supermarket crap which is frozen, probably comes from China, Ecuador, or maybe the Belgian Congo. Who knows? The Seafood Shoppe was owned and run by a wealthy local family - who also owned and operated the main fish wholesaler downtown on Riberia Street. I used to buy my shrimp directly from the wholesaler at a deep discount and always fresh (right off the shrimp boat which they owned).Couple of months ago, they sold the business - everything, wholesale and retail to some fish conglomerate. And since then, it's been all downhill. The fish and shrimp are pure crap: boxed stuff from the wholesale market - tilapia, farm-raised salmon, frozen swordfish, the odd piece of grouper which they try to sell to the tourists for $27/pound. (Tourists will buy and pay anything - what the hell do they know?)Avoid this place like the plague. You're better off at Publix. They sold me some rotten shrimp and when I took them back they gave me bullshit. But I made them replace the shrimp and asked for some ice - which is standard procedure here - it's Florida in the summer...like 90 degrees! "No ice on the weekends." Well, that explains the rotten shrimp. How do you run a fish store with no ice?

I have been to the store about 4 times and have enjoyed much of what I have purchased. Couple issues that I will watch from now on. (1) Red Snapper was on sale - it was old and smelly - obviously that is why it was on sale. (2) If I pay extra for Jumbo Shrimp I expect them all to be Jumbo - from now on we will take the time to insure this in the store before they are packaged up.For the most part things are good and they have a great selection of seafood.

Giving 5 stars because the seafood we purchased was all fresh and clean. We ordered 100 clams and all were alive and clean. The shrimp was fresh smelling and tasted great. The salmon was fresh and had a very savory flavor (not dulled out from sitting around too long). The whole snapper was fresh (gills were a nice darker red color, eyes were clear, and the scales were tight), resulting in excellent flavor when cooked. Recommend due to the fresh seafood we purchased.
