Famous Jamaican Jerk & Seafood

Man... nothing fancy or special about this update accept for the food that I'm currently shoveling into my mouth!It feels good to come to a restaurant and consistently get the same taste that you had before. I never want my food to be better or worse, I just love consistency. That's what makes up loyal customers. I always get the same thing no matter what Caribbean place I go to; jerk chicken (or any meat I'm craving jerked), rice and peas (which is just rice and beans married together), cabbage, a side of plantains (my absolute favorite when they're cooked right) and a spicy Jamaican patty (since they're readily available) while I wait. This is TOP 3 for my favorite Caribbean places in Jacksonville, FL!!!

Best jerk chicken in town. I used to frequent this restaurant when I lived on the westside. Now, I drive across town when I have a craving. I always get a dinner plus a quarter jerk on the side for the next day.

Order through DoorDash a PICKUP order. Order was accepted and plenty of time to pick up. Only to have a call, 1hr and half before their closing might I add, that they are out of food and I have to cancel my order. When I asked why they accepted my order when they have no food,.... Only negative response was "Sorry we just don't have any food just cancel the order please". I asked again why did they queue it being prepared on the app and I was less then 15 min from pick up estimated time? No surprise they hung up!I regret taking a chance on this restaurant and recommend dont have high expectations for this type of rude service. Waste of time and horrible business management! I highly recommend Irie Diner on Park Ave way better !!

The only think I like coming here is for the plantains and rice and peas. What ticked me off is they charge you for extra sauce and don't give you extra gravy as they call it. The older lady had poor customer service she never at least smile or greet you or tell you if you are ready to order nothing. The area looks average coming in I hate the parking the atmosphere is plain. I had jerk chicken Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Mac and cheese was very sad couldn't eat it it was hard on the top and it felt like I was holding a dry piece of cornbread. When they give you chicken I mostly got bones.

Mediocre Jamaican food. Service is slow but the lady running the register is sweet. Tried it because of all the great reviews, unfortunately I've had much better tasting Jamaican food.

I know this may be a bit controversial but I'm here to shake things up a bit, and willing to go out on the limb and say that Famous Jamaican has the BEST!!!!!!!, I said BEST!!!!!! Jamaican food in Jacksonville, HANDS DOWN!!!!Service, who cares about the service, I come here for the food. Oxtails, Curry Goat, Rice & Peas, Cabbage and Plantains. They can give it to me with a smile or a frown, who cares, just give me the Damn food and take my money. I welcome all challengers who consider themselves Jamaican food establishments against The (Champ) Famous Jamaican restaurant. And until someone proves me wrong, they hold the Title in my eyes. Food is AMAZING. First time having Jamaican food. I went here two days in a row. Perfection.

Hands down this is the best Jamaican restaurant in Jacksonville? I've been to so many others, but this by far has been the best.... The jerk chicken and oxtails are both my favorite.

First time trying this place & it was pretty good . The Jerk chicken & oxtails were fire . But the cabbage was hella crunchy idk if that's how it should be , not my cup of tea . The Mac & cheese was also not very tasty , it needed some seasoning. Overall I'd come here again for the oxtail & jerk chicken , I'll probably try different sides though .

The food looked great when I opened it, however in this case, looks were deceiving. The jerk chicken & cabbage is the only thing that taste good to me, I'd give that a 10 out of 10. The rice & peas taste extremely dry and burnt. Mac & cheese was bland & taste like cheese & noodles. The curry chicken was ok, could've been better but not that bad. This is my 2nd time eating food from here. Moving forward, I would only order jerk chicken & cabbage, nothing else.
