Ecomotion Tours is an off-road segway tour of Fort George Island (between Jacksonville & Amelia Island). This is SO MUCH fun! Our group of 20 & 30-something ladies had never ridden segways, but caught on quickly. The owners and guides, Maren & Greg are very friendly and knowledgeable of the machines and the local area. It's necessary to call and book your tour in advance. They offer two tours/day, Tues-Sun. The morning tour is from 10am-2pm and the afternoon, from 2:30-3:30pm. Depending on availability though, the owners are somewhat flexible. Just give them a call and they'll let you know what works best.Initially, Maren and Greg teach you how to ride the segway, and take you through some practice runs. Your route depends on the length of your tour, but we began/ended at the Ribault club, which is a "beautifully restored waterfront clubhouse and stately grounds from the 1920's "millionaire's club" era." Then we continued on through the state park trails, much of which are the old club golf courses. Our destination was an overlook of the inter coastal waterway and salt marsh. We didn't see much wildlife, but the scenery was beautiful and Greg's knowledge of the ecosystem and history of the area added a lot to the tour. If you tour does not take you to Kingsley Plantation, an early 1800s-era plantation, I would definitely suggest stopping by on your way in or out.

Greg and Maren were wonderful! They no longer offer Segway tours but the walking tour of Kingsley Plantation is definitely informative and Greg and Maren are so knowledgeable and just wonderful educators and tour guides. I brought a group of exchange students with me and when we departed, one of them said she was already missing them. That's the kind of impression they left on these young girls. Maren even gave my five year old a bag of crayons so she could be entertained as the others learned about the history of this plantation. Definitely recommend them. I also want to mention we were traveling from Orlando and they were so accommodating, our tour had been scheduled for 2pm, but when we called earlier we knew that would be impossible to arrive at said time and they were okay in waiting and we started our tour at 3:30pm instead with them having no problem moving the time up.
