District Bar & Kitchen

If you are like me, you probably depend on reviews, but don't leave enough of them yourself. Maybe it's time we all change that. In this case it is a five star burger a super cool location and great service that remind me how important it is to leave reviews that might help others. My octogenarian parents, myself and my 20 something. Daughter stopped here on our way back from Silver Springs. Mom's knees and the hot day kept us from enjoying the amazing top side but downstairs inside we got our first experience of the District. My daughter got the mac & cheese, which was fine but honestly, the description made it sound more flavorful than it actually was. My father mother and I got the district Burger, which was on special that night for $10. This burger at the regular price of $16 would be excellent but at $10 it was out of this world. Very juicy with wonderful flavor. My daughter also had a Lavender Haze and it was excellent as well. Beer list is boring, but they have the requisite list of styles. This is a place that I will visit when I am in the Ocala area.

We stopped in town on to look for some lunch/brunch and ended up in downtown Ocala. I think it's the first time either of us has been there before. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Being Sunday, not much was open besides most restaurants, so that worked out great. We couldn't really make up our minds, but we happened to walk past the district bar and it looked great. You can see the upstairs which is all open seating and looked like some live music. It was a beautiful day, not very hot, so that was great. We were seated upstairs, nice little view of downtown. It's very clean, plenty of tv's for football. The staff were all friendly and help.Everything looked great on the menu, looking around at the food coming out and people eating looked great as well. This time we both decided to just keep it simple and had the egg brunch. 2 eggs, cheese grits and bacon and toast. No real complaints, the grits were cheese-tastic, very good. My wife isn't really a fan of grits, but she kept sneaking bites of it. The bacon was great, we didn't try the million dollar bacon, but I'm familiar with the concept and was just looking for simple this time around. Overall, the place is great, very nice and relaxing. The guy playing guitar and singing was a nice topper. Great little addition to a relaxing Sunday. The food did take a little long, but I think we showed up right at the peak time and everyone was ordering at the same time. It is definitely on our list of places to stop in when we're in the area. I would definitely like to try some more stuff on the menu.

Maya, ya did good picking this place :)We were coming from Ocala Comic-con and needed a place to eat lunch before heading back to Jax. This place was about 20 mins away but reviews were awesome so we made the trip over. We were fortunate to find a parking spot half a block over because the area was packed. We walked over and walked in which downstairs was the bar area and a patio area. We told the hostess that we wanted to sit upstairs and she directed us to the stairs where they'd sit us. Up the stairs we went and the difference is night and day: open, lively, gorgeous views, and plenty of seating. They also had live music where the guy was playing some oldies. He was pretty good too. We sat close to the bar area which I really loved. The bar area had a dumbwaiter attached to it to bring up food from the kitchen downstairs. Hadn't seen one of those I think ever. Our server was great with recommendations since we didn't know what we had a taste for, just hungry.This is what we got:Salmon and Beet Omelet (Smoked Salmon, Goat Cream Cheese, Beet Relish, Mixed Greens, Sherry Vinaigrette, DBK Potatoes)- I honestly was surprised how tasty this was together. You have all the different textures mixed together while tasting a combo of the earth and the sea. I really enjoyed this.Shrimp & Grits (jumbo shrimp, red pepper chorizo cream sauce, cheezy stone-ground grits, grilled scallions)- looks like a small portion but after eating it he was content. The shrimp were jumbo and the grits were yellow. I tasted a shrimp and it tasted super fresh.Crème Brulee - his dessert. Very creamy and not overly sweet. Strawberry Layer Cake - my dessert. A simple layered cake with strawberry crème in between. I'm grateful that it didn't have a lot of icing because as an adult now it isn't as enjoyable for me. It was just the right amount.Lavender Haze (Wheatley Vodka, Lavender, FreshLemon, Blackberry) - pretty tastyFeatured drink - I don't care for Old fashioned but I was sold on the puree and syrup added to it. The flowers within the ice made the drink oh so pretty. That was perhaps the best one I've ever had.Thanks for feeding us during our visit. Definitely will keep this place in mind when returning.

This place was great. we sat outside with a party of 8 and sat outside on the rooftop. It was a great experience. The food was good and so were the drinks. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the Cobb beet salad and it was excellent. We hope to return when in Ocala again

This was an amazing place. The upstairs staff was amazing, the drinks were mixed very well and the view was spectacular.perfect place for a day date.

Many place try craft but don't do it right. I've been here 3x on work trips and have not been disappointed yet. First this place has the coolest vibe and atmosphere. It's super clean too. Air conditioned and chilled environment on the first floor and an awesome open deck on the second floor. Would be a great place to watch a sports game with friends or family, but I am usually riding solo on business. Service has always been great and was again this evening. As for the food, it's delicious. I will admit tonight was the first mediocre meal I had. The salmon did not taste fresh and was over cooked. Thankfully the delicious cheddar grits and bourbon sauce helped mostly drown out the extra fishy flavor. The pizza is delicious, fired Brussel sprouts are as good as it gets, the wings were cooked just right, the wedge salad is huge, tasty, and filling and the steak was pretty solid. Great all around menu and options. Next time I plan to try the smash burger.

Great experience! From the outdoor seating upstairs, to good food and great service, it was a warm afternoon, but the huge fans took the edge off! Burgers, wings and Ruebens were all good and the homemade chips were tasty! I hope in the future they can get tables that are a little larger as a four top high top was small with all the food and drinks. Will be back though!

Nice addition to the downtown Ocala scene. We stopped in for Brunch on a Sunday and sat on the upper deck area. Nice area with bar and on that day a musician playing some brunch type of songs. Both of use had their Bloody Mary that has a Guinness Stout floater. My wife opted for their burger while I had their version of a Cobb style salad. Both were presented nicely and were tasty. Recommend if you find your self in Ocala.

Very cool place. Great outdoor seating. Food was good. Beer was good and cold. The chips appetizer was very good.

I've been to The District about three times now because the burgers keep calling me back! They're so flavorful, and the drinks are just a great bonus. I haven't ventured past the burgers yet, but my friends have tried different dishes and they all rave about the flavors and the aiolis--definitely a standout. The servers are just as great, with top-notch hospitality that really makes you feel welcomed. If you're into burgers, this place is a must-try!
