Variety of ramen
Variety of produce
More snacks
Red pepper
More ramen
Some korean wine and snacks
Rice anyone?
Frozen goods
Youngyang Chaltteok
$1.99 japchae noodles
I'm no sous chef but these directions I can follow
Fluffier than Youngyang Chaltteok but not as soft as the Chinese version (白糖糕 bai tang gao). I'd call this one a hybrid.
Homemade buns with a variety of fillings (red beans, custard)
Similar to the Cantonese bo lo pao (pineapple bun)

This is a case where I really should break it down into the good, the bad, and the proverbial ugly. The good: The owners are the sweetest people--it's a true mom and pop operation and they're just too nice. Also, she makes homemade kimchi and some other mitbanchan which are for sale in a fridge by the cash register--and it's excellent kimchi. Honestly, this is all I come here for, really. The bad: The rest of the store is inferior in terms of variety and quality of products overall compared to New World over on Beach. Check the dates on stuff: some things seemingly have been here since the Joseson Dynasty. The ugly: This store is in a really sketchy strip mall. How sketchy? There's a hella sketchy strip club on one side and a store selling outfits for strippers on the other. Nothing against strippers, but you know, it's just a place that doesn't attract always the best of people to the parking lot. And the building is in rather poor repair, too. However, Soriya Food Market is next to this strip mall and while it also looks super-sketch, it's a lovely Cambodian market and you're going to find fruits and meat items there you just don't find elsewhere. Honestly, I just come here for the kimchi and mitbanchan and because the owners are so nice. I will also get a large bag of rice when here to give them a little more business and their rice is always fine. I am serious about checking dates on other products here though--not being mean, it's just the situation it seems.

On the weekends, I like to take my grandma out to go grocery shopping and stopped by this store. It's located on Emerson street in the Wacko plaza. The place is small, but has many grocery items. From instant ramen noodles, to frozen goods (gyoza, dumplings, meat, etc.) They also have different types of produce (cabbage, dakon, kimchi, mushrooms, bamboo, tofu, etc.) It's a little crowded and the aisles are a little bit tight, but not as bad. There are also a variety of snacks, sesame oil, and noodles. They also sell some kitchen utensils and bowls as well. The prices in this store is reasonable and affordable compare to other grocery stores. The owner is super nice and kind. I said thank you to him in Korean and he was very happy. When you buy a lot from him, he gives you a free item (my grandma and I both got a free pastry). Overall, it's a nice small/welcoming store with a nice variety of goods. If you need help with anything, the owner doesn't will show you where things are.

Dae ho is a mom and pop Korean grocery store that's right next to a strip club. I usually just go straight to the food but I can see how it can be convenient for some to kill two birds with one stone...At dae ho, Mom makes kimchi and mans the cash register, Dad stocks the shelves, and grandpa makes amazing pork buns. Unfortunately, grandpa wasn't feeling well so no homemade buns for me this time. They recommended I call ahead to check if they have buns to avoid disappointments. So thoughtful! Ended up buying some noodles to make japchae at home. Wish me luck!

This market is really dirty and today there is a leaking roof with buckets in the floor. The store has an Koenig in the back where it seems there is a kitchenette with a mess everywhere. Some of the fridge items are in disarray as well. The freezer am section is not organized well and the produce has product that is past selling in my opinion.

Customer service was excellent, however, the cleanliness of the store was abhorrent. Frozen meat and packaged items were time and temperature abused. Also, there were uncovered cooked foods in the open air and fridge.

I've been coming here for years- so long, my mom asks the shop owner how the kids are. It's in kind of a weird spot, but they have everything I can't find at nearby grocery stores.

This place is ok. It's very small and is located in a strip mall that's a little shady so there are bars on the door, which makes it look like it's closed. It's a Korean market so you can find a lot of Korean items as well as a few Japanese, Vietnamese, etc items here and there. They sell big bags of rice, which is what I was looking for. There are packaged items, some fresh produce, sauces and stuff, random toiletry and cooking items, and Korean drama dvd (probably rental but I'm not sure as I don't watch those). All in all, it's pretty decent but I found it to be a little on the higher side compared to other asian markets in the area.

The employees are so nice, they have a good selection of DVDs and the items for groceries they carry is decent. They have most of what you'd need. This is also the only location I know of in Jacksonville that carries Hodo Kwaja. They aren't as delicious as the fresh ones you'd buy in Korea, but they're pretty dang delicious. They also have great pre-packaged sides to eat with rice or noodles. I love this store.
