This salon is so beautiful. All of their stylists are highly trained and I always have a great experience.

I have been attending this salon for almostIt's 4 years. At my last appt the young lady kept messing up the days of my appts. Well as of 9 am this morning I received a phone call that I was late for an appt that was cancelled. She told me she was the manager. After arguing with me for 10 minutes about The appointment I kept trying to explain to her that it was canceled the day of my last hair appointment and she would not listen to me and told me I was going to be charged. The card that is on file is not even mine it's my husbands so I told her if she charged my card I would report it as fraud. She wanted to keep arguing with me about the appointment for today,I never confirmed the appointment, I have a text message from the day that it was made that it was canceled the day of. So I canceled my future appointments and she said that was fine and hung up on me. from a business owner standpoint I guess it really doesn't affect her because she doesn't own the business, but word-of-mouth travels very very fast and I do not think this is how you should run a business especially if you've been going there as long as I have. Not to mention my last appointment was almost $300 which I did not mind paying for and then I would always tip at least $100. So if you do the math on that this business has lost a couple thousand dollars from one person and after this gets spread throughout on how they treat their long-standing customers I'm sure it's going to be a lot more. Sorry but I have to find another place of business.

I now completely understand why Cortello has gotten such mixed reviews. I have had 3 haircuts at Cortello over the past 2 years, 2 of them were with a "master stylist" and 1 with a "stylist". They showed VASTLY different levels of competency. I originally had my 3rd appt scheduled with Kaitland, a master stylist who in the past 2 appointments had really done a beautiful job. When I called to confirm in June, I was told that due to COVID-19, all previously scheduled appointments had been canceled and that they were reopening with limited availability. I wish I had been notified, but given the circumstances, it's understandable. With nothing readily available, months pass and I asked to be added to Kaitland's waitlist. Unfortunately, our availabilities didn't coincide, so I asked if there was someone else with availability. (This is where things went wrong.) My assumption was that if I've only ever had a "master stylist" cut my hair, the stylist recommended would be at similar or equal caliber as the previous. I shouldn't have made that assumption. I was scheduled with Maddie, a "stylist". She seemed pleasant and eager to get started. I explained that I had a wedding coming up and I just wanted to reshape the cut. I showed her a picture of a "V" shaped cut and said, I'd like this shape with wispy ends. She asked me how much length I'd like cut and I literally said "none", I just wanted what was necessary to reshape. I also had a few grays popping up to which she offered a glaze to help hide them. First sign for concern came while she was applying the glaze, she had completely missed my left crown and the nape of my hair with her brush. It was easy to notice because she had used the brush forcefully during application making it somewhat uncomfortable but very easy to discern where the bristles were hitting my scalp. I thought, it's no big deal, it'll all be massaged in at the end and it won't be noticeable, which she did and the glaze came out ok.Next was the cut. She asked where I liked my hair parted, I said "the center, but it always ends up off-center somehow". She proceeded to part my hair to the side. Thinking to myself, that's odd, I've never seen anyone cut my hair with a side part. She didn't seem confident with the way she held her scissors or handled hair, it was clear she wasn't experienced. Then, she brought my hair to the back and took a blunt inch off. Clearly, not what I wanted, but I didn't realize it until I saw the length of hair on the floor, and once it was done it couldn't be undone. I also noticed her method was different than what I was used to when asking for this style. Typically, sections are pulled to the front and point cut on an angle. She seemed to just eyeball it and trim out a "V" shape from the back. Honestly, other than it being shorter than I asked for, the shape seemed fine. She moved onto styling. I said, "I liked natural loose waves". She dried my hair as if I had naturally fine straight hair, which I don't, leaving it slightly frizzy. She used a curling iron and proceeded to curl each side away from my face with no alternating directions, which looked good from the front, but bad from the back. In the end, I left thinking, it turned out okay for a novice, but I won't be scheduling an appointment with her again. Now out of town, after showering and quickly drying my hair I had gotten a better view of the cut. It was not good. She had clearly missed a section of hair in the front and the face framing layers were not cut on an even angle front to back. Some pieces underneath were significantly shorter than others on top. It just looked messy.I took a few pictures that night. The next morning, I called Cortello and asked to speak to a manager. The person I spoke to asked if there was any way she could help me instead. I explained to her my experience and suggested that perhaps Maddie should just receive more training or guidance since she did have very good potential. She asked me to send photos and apologized for the mishap. She never offered me a refund or a complimentary appt to rectify the situation, but I felt comfortable that the situation would be handled. Then I see that a week later, Maddie's work is being advertised on their Instagram page. I hope that means that in the course of a week they have taken my concerns into consideration and she has vastly improved. In which case, I'm happy for her.Unfortunately, I cannot personally recommend Maddie and now I question the capabilities of anyone there that doesn't boast higher ranks. On the other hand, Kaitland is a perfectionist and as long as you clearly communicate what you want, you will leave ecstatic with your hair. I highly recommend Kaitland and hope to return myself when I'm back in town to fix this current cut.

BRENNAN IS AMAZING! I was in a moth or so ago but they were not doing cuts just yet, so I was thrilled to get in!She cut like 4 inches off and it looks amazing, she talked to me to make sure what look I was going for and she killed it. my highlights are the BOMB I do not have an everyday style, so she did my highlights where no matter how I have my hair you can see my highlights. I am sad it was a little more than what i aim to pay, so I did give it a 4 star, but again quality wins with me every single time. Products smell like heaven! I will be back to for more of Brennan's magic

I genuinely do not understand how this place has hundreds of five star reviews... the actual cuts & colors are nothing special, the service is meh, and the pricing is OUTRAGEOUS. i paid $200 to have a girl ruin my hair, bleaching it for waaaaay too long, only to get it fixed for $120 elsewhere. I would recommend you spend your money literally anywhere else. It is simply not worth the money and there is absolutely nothing special about this place. Since my bad experience, I've heard rumors that Cortello pays for their reviews but I don't have proof.I do, however, have proof of my damaged hair literally after leaving the salon compared to how it looked leaving the salon I got it fixed at two weeks later.I'm going to update this review later with more details but I just wanted to put this out there for now. If Cortello didn't charge so much, it'd be a 3 or 4 star salon but their pricing takes them down to a 1 in my book. I would never let any of my friends or family waste their money here.

I am appalled at the level of customer service I received today. I had barely walked in the door, already in tears from a horrible morning, and really looking forward to/needing a good hair cut experience. But because of the lack of empathy, and communication skills, not to mention the side eyes from the girls at the register and the complete disregard for a human experience coming from the woman who was supposed to cut my hair.. I literally just walked out- in more tears than I had to begin with. I was on a wait list for a long time, then eventually bit the bullet and scheduled an appointment with a "master stylist." I made this appointment months ago, I told them to schedule 2 hours because my hair is extremely thick and needs a lot of work. I was 10 minutes late (I also told them I would be late before my appointment time), and as soon as I walked in- before even introducing herself, she told me I would be leaving with 1/2 wet hair because I was 30 minutes late and her next appointment was in less than an hour. I'm no mathematician, but this shouldn't have been the case if they scheduled me for 2 hours. I mentioned this and the girl behind the counter said, with complete high school mean girl attitude, "I did give you more time." At this point I was already crying and couldn't take feeling ganged up on, and bullied, so I left.I don't care how good you are at styling, if you don't care about people, you shouldn't be doing this job.

I have to say after moving to Jacksonville 15 months ago and finding a new salon, I am still so pleased I chose Cortello and especially Lynn! My stylist, Lynn, is the bomb! She is sweet, listens to you, takes great care of your hair and you as a person. My hair has not looked this good in a long time and I love my monthly visits. This salon is BUSY and their stylists book up quick, so prepare for that. It is not inexpensive, but it is quality. If you are new to the area, like I was, or simply need a change in your salon, check them out. They are five stars for me!

I used to LOVE this salon and I would recommend it to everyone. NOT anymore.. I'm so very disappointed with this place.. they used to be very kind and accommodating. I've been going to this salon for over 5 years. I've seen several different stylists and they've always treated me like family fitting me in and helping me so that I could recreate styles at home with ease. Lately, they're not answering the phone you have to text them and they can't get me in for appointments. I understand being busy and that's great, but to have no availability for at least 3 weeks out is ridiculous. Then when I finally pick a day and time they said they didn't have a file for me of all my previous appointments. Super sad.. looking for a new salon

Sam was awesome! I have thin blonde hair and wanted face framing long layers without too much length off the bottom, and she did a great job. Also really took the time to understand my hair needs & recommended the right products. I will be back!
