Church of the Good Shepherd Swimming Pool

Visited this pool on my vacation to Jacksonville. It is really a nice facility. The man running the desk was super helpful. He let my sister and I tour the pool, and locker rooms. He explained the rates and hours. It is a 4 lane pool, they have pull buoys, kick boards, whatever you need. He said it wasn't really crowded, ever, It's $40/month, if I remember correctly, and they have a discounted family rate.

So happy I signed up recently to swim here! I have an outside pool at home but the water got too cold to use. They have this pool moderately warm 82 degrees or so so I'm able to swim my laps. There is sometimes swim team or lessons going on but they do not use all the lanes so I've been able to swim every time I've gone in my own lane.

Thanks to a friend of mine who was a lifeguard here, I have used this pool numerous times. It never gets terribly crowded like at your public swimming pools or other gyms, such as the YMCA. This is an indoor, heated pool which many people do not know about. It's kind of "hidden" inside this Episcopal Church. The pool is pretty large at 80 feet by 30 feet and the depth ranges from 4 feet to 11 feet. They have lanes blocked off for lap swimming and there's also an area where kids can play. It's also my understanding the pool can be rented for birthday parties.In my experience, the chemicals have always been well-balanced and I've never had problems with my eyes stinging, burning, or anything of that nature.There are separate locker rooms for the men and the women. You can bring your own lock if you choose because one isn't provided. There are showers and a changing area with benches. Make sure to bring your own towels and shower necessities such as shampoo, soap, etc. They also have water exercise equipment available for your use free of charge. I don't like other people to see me exercise and I don't like other people to see me in my bathing suit. Again, not very many people here and the people who are here tend to be older and they are way past caring what people look like on the outsideSo if you're looking for a good indoor, heated pool, I highly recommend coming here!
