Edit/update - appreciate quick response from the owner. No need for a refund but we will try again and update accordingly. So...reviews of this were great and it's on the donut trail so we made a stop. It wasn't great. It wasn't all bad but ...The donuts looked amazing. Beautifully decorated and lots of nice options. Service was good despite the challenges he faced. They had no hot food, grill was broken. No coffee - no cups. Was a little awkward. We got a lemon filled, a chocolate peanut butter and a maple bacon. The maple bacon was fine, the chocolate peanut butter was pretty good. Both very dense, but not bad. The lemon filled was awful. It was like they just ground up a lemon, rind and all, and stuffed it in. Was bitter and not sweet and not really lemony. Maybe just a bad day.

I have been checking off stops on the Visit Jacksonville app for the Coffee & Donuts Trail, and this was my next stop on the list. It is tucked away on St. Augustine Road, among the industrial businesses. I was visiting with my son after MOSH around noon, and the place was empty. There was a man and woman working there, and the woman was sweet and friendly with my son. The man took my order of a cinnamon sugar twist and a recommendation of the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. He made the sandwich with homemade biscuits, a fresh fried egg, and shredded cheddar cheese. They also have salads and sandwiches available for lunch. We were able to sit down at a table with a high chair and eat our food. Although the twist wasn't fresh and hot, since it was the afternoon, , you could tell it was homemade and not bought from a store. The sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. The service was wonderful and I recommend the food. I hope more people are stopping in and supporting!

Before heading here over the weekend, I read a few reviews both on Google and Yelp. The few "bad" reviews some left were complaining about how big or thick the donuts are, and that made me chuckle. Only because I don't see how that is a negative; to me, that reads as a positive! They are in fact big, dense donuts. If you are looking for a light and fluffy donut, this may not be the donut shop for you. With that said, the donuts were Extremely fresh, and dessert like donuts. I loved "americas favorite" the best but that's pretty normal for me to like the original glazed the most at all donut shops. It's a vanilla glazed donut. The chocolate donut with vanilla glaze was my second favorite, and I'd have to say third was the cinnamon and sugar twist. Shirley took the time to come around to the order area where customers are, and explain in detail each donut she had and what it was like. I LOVED the personal tour of donuts. The customer service level here is a big 10/10. She did explain her chocolate chocolate donut is different from most chocolate donuts at other donut shops and she was in fact, correct. The icing on the chocolate chocolate donut is kindive like homemade cake icing. My grandmother and I used to bake when I was a kid. The icing from the chocolate donut I tried, tasted exactly like the homemade icing I used to make with my grandma when she was alive. It was an immediate nostalgic flavor/memory unlocked. And yes, not the usual icing on a donut but more so icing you may find on a cake. I liked it. It's very rich so the one donut was actually plenty. I cut it in half to eat the rest the next day. Shirley also serves breakfast here. If you are looking for a little more savory to your sweet, you could order both breakfast And donuts all in the one stop shop. I do like that feature. I'm looking forward to trying some of her breakfast options on the next visit.

These are some of the best donuts I've had in quite some time. Only batter that lives up to this locally is the Donut Shoppe's, on University. They both have these heavy, sweet donuts - in the best way possible. Now these are a bit pricey, but someone's it's worth buying happiness. Pro-tip: Pair with bold coffee without sugar.

I stopped by this cute little mom and pop donut shop on the way to an appointment one day and so glad I did!! I didn't know what to expect but upon walking in, it was very welcoming! The area was bright and clean and there's a cute donut mural in the back side of the shop. I felt so happy and nostalgic because it reminded me of candy stores when I was a kid. Customer service is outstanding! Quinten (not sure if I'm spelling it right or not, Sorry!) was super friendly and patient with me as I pondered on which donuts to get. I wanted to get one of everything as all the donuts looked fresh, fluffy, plump, and had a good amount of glaze, powdered or cinnamon sugar on them. I had the following:Glazed donut: 8.5/10 - super fluffy and even with all that glaze, it wasn't sweet! And the donut was pretty huge! I savored every last bite! The texture reminded me of a pillow and the taste is like a traditional glazed donut, but it wasn't as sweet. I usually prefer Krispy Kreme donuts as they melt in your mouth but this one might top it. The donut was simple but it was one of a kind.Oreo crunch with nuts on top: 9/10 - this has gotten to be one of my favorite donuts of all time. The Oreos mixed with some toffee (I believe) on top with the nuts was chef's kiss. You get a little sweetness from the Oreo and the texture of the crunch from the nuts and it was divine. The Oreo crunch and nuts topping was on top of a original glazed donut and I think it definitely added and extra depth of flavor. Glazed chocolate (dough) donut: 8.5/10 - this one was similar to the glazed donut but in the chocolate flavor. The dough itself is chocolate and not the glaze but it tasted like one of those glazed chocolate Bundt cakes! You can taste the richness of the cocoa in the dough and it's not overly sweet as well! Apple fritter: 10/10 - DELICOUS, perfectly fried to a nice dark, golden color with beautiful notes of apple in the dough! I literally ate the entire fritter in 2 minutes! You get all of the apple flavor, from the dough to the fresh apple chunks! Some other donuts and goodies that I've picked up were the maple bacon, raspberry filled, cinnamon bun, and Boston cream. Prices were super reasonable for the size of the donuts! They also have smaller versions of their big donuts. I didn't try these yet as they were for my family and friends but everyone collectively agrees that these donuts were amazing and delicious. I'm a bit of a donut connoisseur and usually goes for the gourmet donuts but something about this place is different and unique. The shop's atmosphere is very warm and inviting and you just feel happy walking in. Honestly, to me, their shop has some of the best donuts in Jax. Even two days later, the donuts were still pretty good and not stale. With 5 seconds of nuking, they were fluffy again. Happy to say that I am a regular customer now and stop by every week to grab some donuts from here! They also serve breakfast and lunch too and I can't wait to try those items. If their donuts are this good, I cannot imagine how their other food items are! Thank you Shirley (owner) and Quinten for always making my day so bright and happy with your donuts and customer service! Definitely stop by and pick up some goodies from this hidden gem! You won't regret it! Try to come earlier as they do run out of certain donuts!

After an unpleasant dentist visit, what better way to cheer up than with donuts? I've been eager to try Cheer Donuts, and they certainly made me happier after hearing bad news from the dentist. It's located in a non-assuming shopping center on Old St. Augustine, and is run by a delightful Southern lady who was happy to answer all of my questions about her donuts. There's a wide selection of raised donuts (ring and specialty), most of which are just ridiculously large and often doused in icing/glaze. I bought five donuts (about $15)- glazed, chocolate, apple fritter, cinnamon roll with raisins, and a twist, and filled up a box that fits a dozen normal donuts. These donuts are Southern sweet, so it you like sugary donuts, this is your spot. I particularly enjoyed the apple fritter, which had a nice crunch on the outside, was properly done on the inside, and was covered in a wonderful glaze. I enjoyed the glazed and chocolate, both of which were pleasantly soft and delicious. I'll skip the chocolate/vanilla twist next time around. It was good (and large), but wasn't as tasty as the others.Cheer Donuts is new, but is off to a solid start. I'd like to see a proper menu with prices, as well as description cards in front of the donuts to make selection a little easier. I'm sure there will be improvements to the shop as time moves on, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows. If you're going to pay $3 for a donut, skip the hipster donuts you'll encounter at some other shops in the area and give Cheer Donuts a try!

If you like mom and pop shops, this is for you. Today it was just mom and to be honest, not sure if there is a pop. Anyway, this place is brand brand BRAND new. No menu posted, no prices listed, just the display counter and the nice lady behind it. The kitchen is clean and wide open for all to see. Nothing behind the scenes here. I bought a couple of glazed, apple fritter, twist, and a bear claw. Unfortunately, no cake donuts. The glazed was good and so was the fritter. These 5 pastries were $15 - so an average of $3. As a long-time Jax resident, it's not the donut shoppe but it's also a shorter drive for me. The flavors are there but I think what does it for most of us is the texture that the OG has been able to perfect. As soon as she can get some help, she plans to be opened 7 days a week.

I must say, I think this place was having a bad day since all the other reviews are so stellar. We arrived and were hoping to try some donuts and breakfast sandwiches but their grill was not functioning. So we selected our donuts and wanted some coffee as well but weren't able to take any to-go as they had no lids. The service was as good as could be. The gentleman told us about all the flavors and apologized multiple times for the grill and the coffee issues. We chose the maple bacon, peanut butter toffee and lemon donuts. The first two were very tasty, rich and surprisingly not too sweet. The dough was dense and almost bready but very good. Unfortunately the lemon filled was not good at all. The donut itself was hard and the filling was very pasty and tasted like lemon rind. The atmosphere is casual and a little run down, nothing exciting but clean. Hopefully next time we drive over to try it will be a better day.

Wanted to give this place a try. The women working was very nice and friendly. The chef looked like he was bothered and wished he was some where else. Wasn't to thrilled with the food. Ordered a variety of donuts. Definitely will stick to The Donut Shop or Publix. Would not be my go to for donuts.

Stumbled on this place looking for good donuts. Gotta say this place has good donuts. A little far from home but they have a good product. Sitting here in the parking lot 40 minutes till they open but it's worth it!
