"$35 for a round of golf with cart. I would say that's a great deal for this well kept, maintained, 6/10 challenging course. The fairways were very well maintained. However the greens were hard as a rock and the pin placement, well pros would have an issue trying to come close to making it. The carts were clean and even had gps with overview and distance to the hole features. A beer cart came around every so often and also the ranger to make sure play was on track. The cart even had rate of play to let you know if you were behind or ahead of time. There is a nice pro shop and also area to eat before or after your round. I would definitely play here again. There is also a driving range to practice and greens to put. Overall a pleasant experience."
"Decent track for golf, actually one of my favs in Jacksonvillle. The greens were slicker than snot...but we finally figured them out on 17..."
"The Slammer and Squire, the second of two courses on the PGA tour World Golf Village and Hall of Fame site in St Augustine Florida. Shorter than the famous King and Bear, which I will play next time, its a technical golfers dream! Played in the shadow of the World Golf Hall of Fame, I mean that literally, the sign is seen all over the course, it brings the tradition of the game to the forefront and reminds, even the most amateur golfer of the great who played the game before them! Also, you can book your tee time right through Yelp! When pulling up to Slammer and Squire, you share parking with the World Golf HOF! It humbling from the beginning or really, why are you playing? A gentleman in what I call a limo cart, picked our bags and us up and brought us to the pro shop to check in and get us ready for the round! The young man in the pro shop was super helpful and got us amped for our round. We had to check out the locker room and low and behold, there were lockers for the Slammer and Squire still in the locker room alongside champions of the course and other notables in golf! Designed by Gene Sarazen, "The Squire", and Sam Snead, "The Slammer", its a 6900 yard challenge for the golfer who doesn't live and die by the driver! That being said, you have to hit good drives, they just don't need to be 250 plus yards! The course has fairway bunkers on a great number of the holes and very few "straight" forward holes. Many a dog leg left or right in which the tee cannot see the green to include steep bunkers and fescue style palmettos! We had a memorable experience and was so appreciative of everyone we have met! If you are looking for a great experience on one of the best courses in the world, and truthfully, we aren't the best golfers in the world, check out Slammer and Squire, but book early, it does tend to get full!"
"Amelia River is a phenomenal course. My dad plays it regularly, and when I visit from NY we play it over any of the other courses in the Fernandina Beach area.First, it is in excellent shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are well-maintained - none of the dirt patches you can often find at public courses. Greens roll with good speed, without feeling like you're putting at Oakmont. This is all the more impressive with the amount of play the course gets - if the weather's nice (as it usually is) it's jammed. Fortunately the pace of play is still steady, unless you are the unlucky twosome stuck behind several groups of fours - usually don't have this issue, but it happens.Second, the layout of the course is fantastic, in my opinion. There are five sets of tee boxes, and two 'combo' tee options on the scorecard (note to course, add a gold/blue combo!). It's a true par 72, with no two holes being alike. Some run along the boundaries of the property where you can overlook the municipal airport and feel the winds coming off the ocean or intracoastal. Other holes take you through the Florida trees. Water and creek hazards are certainly prevalent but not overbearing. The par 3s, 4s, and 5s alike all have varying distances. Risky shots are tempting (never works out well for me). Alligators are often spotted chuckling at errant shots to the island-green par 3 17th.I believe the negative Yelp reviews are from a prior management regime. Highly recommend Amelia River for those looking for a unique, challenging, and well-rounded golf experience."
"It's getting back to where it was.....Over the past 5 years - condition here was going steadily downhill.....It was sold, and in the limited time the new owners have been here - the improvements are noticeable - they appear to be putting real $$$ into it: Looks like a really cool expanded back patio coming soon...15 which was a mess in the summer was roped off and allowed to grow in - not there yet, but it looks like it's going to be a great hole when it's done.....some greens a little sketchy, but again - it's obvious these guys are putting in the work for the condition to match the layout, which I think is the best in the area...."
"Jax Beach Golf Club - the finest municipal golf in the greater beaches area.In all seriousness - it's probably like a 2.5 or 3 star course. It's not particularly scenic or challenging. Hole 2 is next to a water treatment plant for Christ's sake. The greens are touch-and-go, and the tee boxes intermittently look like shit."So Jerry," you might ask "why 4 stars?"Because it's cheap. And the people are great. Seriously - you can play 18 holes with a cart after noon on the weekends for like $31. There are $2 beers on the course every day for happy hour. I think it goes without saying that you won't have the same quality as TPC Sawgrass or World Golf Village, but you also won't be scolded for shotgunning a beer after you birdie #12. I think at this price point, it's more comparable to spending an afternoon in a bowling alley than at a country club. But you still get to enjoy the great outdoors on a golf cart for 4 hours. The guys at the pro shop have always been great. Starters and rangers are never rude. Cart girls are always friendly and easy to find. Also, shout-out to the guys making the food for this course ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/drive-n-dine-bar-and-grille-jacksonville-beach?hrid=Ur66ZnS7mfmOsMkPoFjelA&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) ) The chicken salad is addictive, and this restaurant could probably stand alone outside of the golf course. If you come in with reasonable expectations, I think you will have a good time here."

About 3.5 stars but no beverage cart, no rangers, and mosquitos like crazy subtracts that half star. Course is in decent shape. The last time I played here they had 27 holes but now they are down to 18. We heard a rumor of the course closing in November of 2020 but that's a ways off. I think I've heard rumors about this county course for quite some time but with 9 holes permanently closed, maybe it's closer to truth. It's a little trek south on 95 but decent rates and consistent greens make it an ok morning. Especially if you can start around 8a on a Sunday that's forecasted to reach close to 100 degrees in the afternoon. A little over 5700 yards from the white and about 6100 yards from the blues at par 70. Definitely good for scoring as I had one of my better rounds in a long time.

I live in Julington Creek (NW Saint Johns County) and Eagle Landing is in the middle of nowhere west of Orange Park... so it was a bit of a trek to get to this golf course, but I have to say, it was worth it. Eagle Landing was a very enjoyable golf course. It wasn't too hard, but the length added to the challenge. The conditions were really nice. All the tee boxes had nice, well maintained, grass. The greens were super fast, which also added to the difficulty. It's a beautiful course. Very nice scenery. The club house is similar to a much more expensive club. They have a nice full bar. Full restaurant. Fully stocked pro-shop. The bar/restaurant has very nice outdoor seating that looks out over the 18th green. Added bonus... The cart girl makes a mean bloody mary, including hot sauce, wustershire, and fresh cracked pepper! I'll certainly play this course again.

A friend and I had a trip planned to St Simons island for a graduation. We decided to go down a few days earlier and stay in St Augustine Florida. We wanted to get a round of golf in the first day and decided to play at the Squire at the World Golf Headquarters based on positive reviews there. When we pulled up to the course it began to thunder and the pro shop said we would have to wait out the storm. We were disappointed of course because we had just flown in from Kansas City and had been looking forward to play for weeks. The pro shop recommended nearby Murray Brothers Caddyshack to get some food and wait out the storm. After about an hour at Cadddyshack we went back to the course and were able to get a time booked. They offered letting us hit some practice balls for free but the weather was still iffy so we wanted to get started and at least get a few holes in.We got the entire round in and basically had the course to ourself. The course was great and in perfect shape, this was my first time playing in Florida and the greens definitely take some getting used to but loved this course and plan on going back again someday.

I love the layout of this course, but it's in the worst condition I've ever seen it, but I still believe. I believe in the new ownership. They've made some good investments and as Rick said, "We have a lot of work to do." They do, but he's invested and present everyday. I will continue to play and support the course, but yesterday, my group was t happy. The greens are the absolute worst I've ever played. Horrible. That'll take work and time as they continue working on the irrigation. However, what can be improved and should be attention to detail are some simple things. The trash cans were over flowing on Saturday afternoon. Obviously, the trash wasn't emptied. It's not a municipal course and it's looking like it. The layout is great and it's potentially going to be one of the best in NE Florida. Keep supporting the course. New ownership that is present. Let's keep supporting them.

The Jax Bch Golf Club has been around for years. AND has been enjoyed by locals for years. For those of us that play the game (or think we can) and can't afford the higher priced clubs in Ponte Vedre, this is where you will find us. It was updated in 2009 and has never been better. They also have a driving range, 2 Putting greens, Bunker and Short Game Area. They offer the FUNdamental Golf School for us adults and a summer program for our kids. Tiger golf lessons is for our youngsters 7 - 10yr and Palmer golf is for the 10- 17yr range. If you register to participate in their eClub, you will receive a free green fee on your Birthday! Valid up to one week prior and one week after your birthday. Now that's what I am talking about! Free golf and the opportunity to learn about all the specials as they are unfolding instead of hearing from a buddy a week to late!In the Pro Shop they carry Titleist, Adams, PING, Nike, and many more. If you don't see what you are looking for they offer a special order service to members & guests. I am glad to see Jax Bch still offering and improving this amenity to its residents instead of building over it!

Just played this weekend after the course was closed for renovations for @6 months..... Got to say, disappointed - here's the deal:Course itself: 4 stars - much needed improvements - a lot of trees and overgrowth removed, greens played fair and firm (will continue to improve with time) made the course a little easier (nice feature on JC - probably easier than any of the 210 courses....)Course amenities: 1 star - cracked sidewalks, bridges looked a little rough, no beer cart girl, saw one marker on the course all 18 holes, no "150 sticks" yardage not marked well at allClubhouse: 1 star - parking lot still a complete mess, check in area OK, but bathroom stunk and sink was broken (old faucet missing one of the handles) - seriously......in 6 months with no golfers....you guys couldn't have cleaned the place, modernized it and gave it a coat of paint? Lived here 6 years - that parking lot always looks like a construction site - couldn't get it re-blacktopped?To close - I don't hate JC - it is what it is....a munie with zero amenities in decent shape, go out, swing a club, and have fun....but I cancelled my 4 some with out of towners for this weekend to go to my least favorite of the 210 courses - just because it's a nicer atmosphere...

This is a historic course. Unfortunately, that's all it has going for it. The place is a dump, but the employees act like it's Augusta National. I've never been treated more rudely at a golf course in the 45 years that I've been playing golf. Went there to hit some balls on the range. I bought a bag and proceeded to hit them on the range. There is a chipping green next to the driving range and as I was walking over to it, I stopped to pick up a random ball on the range. It was outside of the "hitting area" that was roped off. The range jockey was on me instantly telling me I can't hit from there. It was as if he was just waiting for someone to hit that random ball so he could act all tough. There were probably 150-200 golf balls around the chipping green. I chipped for a while and then picked up about a dozen balls to go hit a few more drivers. The range jockey was instantly back again, asking me "where did you get those balls" like I was stealing them. I did absolutely nothing to be treated this way. I complained to the manager, but all he said was that they had been having problems with people stealing golf balls and barely offered me an apology let alone any reason why I should ever return. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else, somewhere that they appreciate you.

"The course was in great shape. However, when we arrived at 1:45 for a 2:10 tee time, there were no carts available. There were 3 groups in front of us, so as the earlier golfers finished, the carts were taken in order of tee time. It was about 2:30 before we teed off. The weather was amazing and the course was good, so after the delay it was a great day."
"A venerable and historical course laid out by the famous Donald Ross in 1925 on Jacksonville's nearly forgotten North sideFrom the whites 6153 yards with challenging hazards including two very out of place radio towers and their supporting guy wires. Honestly you don't notice them much after a while. The fairways are well kept, the greens are true and played a equally well for the weekend golfer. The sand traps which I managed to avoid entirely were like powder. The clubhouse inside is showing its age and the folks at the bar are a little clickish. They only take cash which was very frustrating both at the bar, the snack bar and on the course. All in all it was fine."
"Great day for the first round of the season! So I look around - yeah very white. Not surprised by that. Looked around - yup no women. A little surprised about that. Keep looking and I see Gator and Bull Dog fans ... where the hell were the Seminoles? Now that was uncalled for! I got to spend two hours on the golf course, surrounded by hilarious men. I really do have a tough life! What a beautiful place and great golf course. Had a great time and actually played well...I mean decent...at least I didn't hit anyone. You really haven't played golf in Jacksonville until you hear a 70 yr old dude ask you "can I put my weight on it" on the 12th hole. Then hear some 40 somethings discussing the housing market and where's the best place to get a beer on St. Patrick's day without being stuck near "hippies". Only lost a star because of the parking. Some how it needs to be expanded, but it might have just been everyone taking in the great Spring Saturday. Yay! I'm a fan."
"Back 9 looks great, front 9 under repair on most greens. Newly placed sod, so they are working on them.Challenging course with plenty of hills, Marsh and water. Reasonable rates and friendly staff!"
"The course is a great value. The GPS on the cart was pretty spot on and the course was well groomed. It was a little confusing on a few holes trying to find our way...the golf path can end on a residential street and it's not too clear as to which way the path picks up. However, the course in general was challenging, in super condition and considering all the rain we've had lately..the drainage was fantastic. There is a drink girl who comes around on the cart, water coolers at every 3rd-4th hole and a decent club house that serves food and drinks. Only complaint; ladies bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. It doesn't take too much effort to ensure the toilet bowls are scrubbed out on a daily basis...it looked as though they had NEVER been cleaned!"
"One of the original courses in Palm Coast has been redone and is in good shape. A little tight and lots of bunkers but the oak trees and moss will keep you from loosing your ball of you get offline. A nice driving range is right in front of the clubhouse. Have a snack bar and small pro shop. Friendly staff. Enjoyable to play."
"An inside event for local artists in the club house...how nice! I think once a month they will be here..."
"This is a nine hole course you can play as the nine or double it up for the eighteen. At first glance you wouldn't think much of this course, (it's nine holes, it's on the north side, etc). But you will quickly see that the staff is very friendly, the course is in good condition, and it has a very playable set up. The First Tee of north Florida is set up here to. Great all around value for the money."
