"I am a experienced First Coast Y"er and this location even though recently updated stll lacks certain elements that others have. No sauna No towel service and most classes during the day seem to be geared towared Silver Sneakers which are retired so thats understandable. I would say they need a wow factor maybe not in as a Subway like Brooks but maybe a exercise/yoga room is edgy or a steam room. For the higher cost we pay for the Y membership I would just like to see more here at this local location."
"I'm shocked no one else has raved about this place yet! This isn't my first La Petite my child has attended as he spent the summer at a location in Northwestern South Carolina that always looked and sounded like an ABSOLUTE FREE FOR ALL!!!! My child has been at this location for almost 2 years now and I couldn't be happier! The staff is amazing! The curriculum is teaching my child more than I ever expected in a early preschool setting (in the fall, my child will be in PVK).It's nice to see the same staff (teachers) over and over again meaning the turnover rate is limited. There is a great outdoor playground for all children to enjoy. The only issue I have is the location. It is 5 or 6 car-lengths from a stop light with a left turn median. This all boils down to a nightmare to get in and/or out of the parking lot on a regular basis. However, I'm not gonna fault La Petite for this issue.Ask me anytime anywhere and I'll say this location is great!"
"I really can't speak highly enough of this daycare. Our son is 2 and has been attending TLE since he was 10 weeks old. He's had amazing teachers all along the way. He loves his teachers Ms. Teresa and Ms. Maegen. He's a super active kid and they really take the time to keep him occupied and learning at a fast pace. He is happy to go to school every day, and if that's not an indication of the great care he's getting, then I don't know what is!! We love TLE & Ms Teresa and Ms Maegen!"
"I can't say enough about these guys. I truly love taking my son there. The teachers are fantastic and take such good care of him.I really hope the other tutor times are as good as them once we move."
"Can't say enough about the VPK program and Ms. BJ! I have seen much improvement with my daughter in preparation for kindergarten next year. I know she really cares and I appreciate that I know she is looking out for her safety but also her well being as I am away at work. Highly recommend this center and this program!"
"Love this place, love its location, prices, curriculum.... especially love his teacher Miss Tia, and the director and assistant director- Miss Shannon- are both very lovely people and I've never had a single issue they weren't able and willing to resolve. It's clean, huge, closed classrooms and a large well trained staff always present and smiling. You will not be disappointed in T's!"
"It's a small y in a small town. You get what you pay for?! They don't really have enough equipment but I suppose if they had any more, there wouldn't be room to move! However, it is adequate and you can definitely get your sweat on. There is equal amount of weights versus cardio machines. A nice cardio room for all of their classes. You can sign the key out if you want to workout in private. BUT there are no weights in that room. And it's not connected to the gym. They have a nice size kiddie area with lots of toys for them to play with while mom and/or dad work out. I go in the evenings after work and that's when they have the young kids working. They aren't very friendly. They are more concerned with flirting and socializing with each other rather than helping their member. Whom by the way, pay their pay checks!Oh there is one more thing, they added this program called active trax that will create a workout for you. I love it! It takes the guess work outta my workout."
"Very happy we made the switch. My kids are very happy at this place. Great care with compassion, very happy teaches. Good sign."
"Awesome gym. So much to do and if your a student awesome 30$ a month few ! They have a pool , ping pong , daycare and a basketball court or two ! Nice locker room with a few showers and it all is pretty dang clean for a locker room !This gym is home a way from home."
"I love, love, love this daycare. My daughter is 2 1/2 - she has been going here for over a year and I cannot believe how good she is doing! She is thriving!!! Her vocabulary and speech are amazing, not only in English but her Spanish is quite impressive as well! She is so happy and learns so much! I hate being apart from her but am so comfortable leaving her in the hands of the teachers, assistants and coordinators at this school. I am so blessed!"
"Best Daycare and VPK facility in Northeast Florida. All three of my children have attended this facility over the past 8 years. Our children's safety and education is their top priority. Extremely reasonable rates and friendly staff!"
"Joined the YMCA. Looked for the Village People but couldn't find them. LOLGood exercise facility with all the machines and weights you need.Time to get in shape. They have an outdoor heated pool, lockers and classes.Hint get referred NY a member and save 20 %.Special time limited donate school supplies for military families and you will not pay the joining fee.2 free visits with trainer upon joining. Good friendly staff will answer your questions about the exercise equipment.Kathleen at the front desk is terrific and will be most helpful.Looking forward to getting into better shape."

My 6 year old nephew plays soccer here in the Spring and Fall. He enjoys the social aspect. My sister likes that it teaches him sportsmanship and that they pray before each game. The field is well kept and the coaches (mostly volunteers) are fantastic with the kids. Her dislikes include the soccer seasons being too short (2 months) and the outdoor bathrooms are dirty. I attended a few jiu jitsu/MMA night classes here years ago when I lived in town, it kicked my butt (in a good way)!

We removed our 2yo child from this school and it was the best decision we've made. Let me first say this place is exceptionally clean. The administration staff is caring and kind. And were very willing to listen to my concerns. The issue is with the teachers. I witnessed them yelling and clapping their hands in a 2 year olds face chanting "no one wants to hear you cry, stop crying". The child was shamed and belittled in front of everyone while she sobbed in tears. Also, my out-going 2 year old spent 2 months there and never spoke of her teacher by name. Where we relocated from she chatted about her teacher all the time. When we moved her from TLE to the new center she told me she like Mrs. Maria on the 2nd day. Dropping off was never smooth. My child and I would walk into the class, the teachers would not acknowledge me or my child- Even during her first week. I would set her up for breakfast and say bye and watch through the window. She was on her own to eat breakfast on her own. No help, no comfort, no compassion for a new 2 yo. There were other issues, like the teachers unable to speak proper English and would use slang/half words. Their "best teacher" was one who didn't even say hello when we came into the room. The list goes on. It's a shame they have the staff they do.

Ms Dana, Ms Yolanda and Ms Cherie are the some of the best child care providers in Jacksonville. They are probably the best in the Northside at the very least. This facility is clean and well run. It's been a few years since my kids have attended but I stop in every once on a while just to say hi and give them updates on the kids. Couldn't recommend a better child care facility nearby.

My son attended T's for over 5 years. For the most part we loved it until Miss Shannon (director) started. We had numerous issues with her but the last takes the cake. We paid for the last week of summer camp on Friday, August 5, 2016. This was for the week of August 8-11. After watching me swipe my credit card, she then proceeded to tell me we didn't have to pay for the last week due to the deposit we had on file. She said refunds would be issued the following week via check since we paid by credit card. I said no problem. Today is September 1 and still no refund. I have emailed and called numerous times and still nothing. This week I was told checks were mailed last Wednesday. Well, it's a week later and still no check. Was it mailed from Alaska? I have called at least 3 times and left messages but Miss Shannon never returns my call. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

I would just like to say, I absolutely LOVE Kid City Oakleaf!!!!! My child has absolutely flourished since being enrolled. The staff is welcoming. The building is super clean. I couldn't ask for a better daycare. The owner, Mrs.DeSiree always has a smile!! After talking with her, I felt at ease about leaving my child in the care of her team. I would highly recommend enrolling your child into this terrific school.

"Our kids have loved going to Kiddie Academy over the last few years. They have wonderful teachers, curriculum, resources, amenities etc. for the kids. Professional staff and clean facilities are a big plus as well. They have various after school activities to promote community involvment and family interaction. Convienant location off of US1 as well. Mr. Joe and Ms. Rita are a joy to depend on!"
"There is nothing but good things to say about this preeschool. My 3 year old has been going to this place for about 6 months and he loves it! He has learned so much and have lots of friends. Teachers are sweet and nice. Miss Olive who is in charge couldn't be any more sweet and nice towards kids and parents. Attention is very personalized and I like receiving pictures and communication of what my kid is doing every day at my phone through their app. As far as the actual school is also amazing, its brand new and it is super clean. Their playground are is completely gated so I feel kids are safer. I totally recommend this place!"
"I saw other reviews for this daycare and felt compelled to write a review as several of the reviews were from people who haven't attended the daycare. We've been sending out child to Primrose for 2 years now and are very pleased with the quality of care received. Getting in: There is a length wait list because this is quite a popular school. I recommend signing up as soon as you find out you're expecting if this is the school you want to go to. We signed up at 6 months pregnant and had a year wait list. Our child was able to start in their Infant 2 class and is currently in their toddler 4 class. Fees: There's no way around this. It's expensive. This is a quality daycare. The facility is in immaculate condition. There are lots of toys in each of the classes. There are several great playground on site as well as a splashpad. Tuition includes 2 meals and 3 snacks daily. Parents are served breakfast and snack once a week. Staff: The staff are great at this location! The turnover is very low and most of the teachers that we've had in the last 2 years are still there. I think this speaks to the quality of the school, helps to justify and price, and the work environment for the staff."
"Don't take your kid here. These people don't know how to communicate. After several conversations about this, it still didn't improve. The last straw was when my I picked up my daughter on a Tuesday and I thought she had diaper rash (no big deal) but I thought it was weird that it was not noted on her daily paper report. When I dropped her off on Wednesday I told them about it. During the day it got worse and I was not notified. By the time I picked her up, it was so big that we had to go to the emergency room. Once again, nothing was written on her paper. She had caught a staph infection called impetigo. When I called to inform them because it is highly contagious, she tells me "oh yeah we had a break out of hand, foot, and mouth" which is COMPLETELY different, ALSO contagious and AGAIN I was NOT NOTIFIED. The kid who had it, caught it the FRIDAY BEFORE!! My daughter was out the rest of the week (and mind you, they were closed Monday for a holiday). They were apologetic and even said that, yes, her teacher was supposed to fill out a green form about the rash BOTH Tuesday and Wednesday. But when I asked for a discount for that week, that's when the lady lost her mind and blamed ME. She said that I should have been calling up there to check on my daughter and the teacher is too busy to write stuff like that down. I'm sorry but isn't that the reason there is a report in the first place??? Don't I pay you A LOT to take GOOD care of my kid??? I would have preferred she simply declined my request for a discount without pointing the finger at me. Especially since I have been VERY understanding of their short comings for some time. I understand that kids catch things and this happens but the lack of communication AND respect I cannot tolerate. Beware!!! (I bet none of the parents were notified about MY child's contagious diagnosis either)"
"We love this school. We have 3 kids and this is our 4th school and it's hands-down the best we have ever had. The teachers are great, the owner is amazing, and the activities and level of care is second to none. If you are looking for a school, I can't say enough about Goddard PVB."
"This is a very nice YMCA on the Northwest side of town. Zumbathon keeps me coming here. This was my 2nd Zumbathon for Breast Cancer Awareness held every year in October. They bring in many Zumba teachers for the two hour event. This year we had 18 Zumba instructors. It's a wonderful event and for just $10 you get a great workout while supporting a worthy cause. A win-win. There must have been 200 people attending. You can workout at your own pace at these events. There's free snacks while working out so no one passes out. Plenty of water, sherbet & fruit. This event is held in October. If interested check out the Y for these events advertised around September. Maybe I'll see you there."
"I have my child at this center- she was 13 months old when we brought her here. In 4 months she has been bitten a total of 6 times 4 of which were reported. That was the first thing. It seems that every time during bath time I would find something new. The last straw was their staffing . I noticed my child wasn't sleeping well at night and I couldn't find out why. The answer became obvious when I came in the middle of the day to drop off diapers and found that the director had for the last several weeks had removed kids from the classroom . Because the classroom ratio was over the state limit of 1:6 she would rotate 4 children at a time in a buggy in the hall. My child would essentially spend a portion of the day restrained. I naturally complained and was told that their were staffing issues. I told her that attrition is to be expected but should be planned for, she agreed. 2 weeks later (4 weeks total)- same issue. The last center I was at had a hands on director- it seems that this one would rather stay in her office while our children are restrained. I will be pulling my kid out of here but not before I talk to some of the other parents in my child's class. If I hadn't come u expectedly in the middle of the day - no one would have been the wiser."
"My husband and I LOVED this school!! After previously attending 2 different day cares Primrose Fleming Island was recommended to us by another parent. After touring the school with my then 1 year old son I knew it was the right fit. Primrose of Fleming Island went above and beyond any and all expectations. They have the best security, academic curriculum and staff!! He grew leaps and bounds here. I wish we did not have to move because there has not been one school I have found comparable to Primrose Fleming Island. Examples of this excellence is my son finally using sign language (after the prior school boasted about teaching sign language, of course in conjunction with the parents at home, my son never learned a bit from them), Recognizing and speaking his colors, his manners of please and thank you, he never got a diaper rash at Primrose (EVER), NO staff ever became stern or raised their voice to any child, EVER, their method of handling children in all types of scenarios were head and shoulders above any I had/have ever seen, and the children responded POSITIVELY!!"
"Do yourself and yourself and your child a favor and dont take them here. The owners are super rude, the teachers have no idea what is going on when asked a question. Very disorganized place and everyone seems so stressed at all times."
"My child is now 9 months. We have had him enrolled since he was 3 months old. We absolutely love his teachers. They treat all the children like they are theirs. The staff is very friendly and informative. The rates are a little high, but they are military friendly."
"I was trying to decide between primrose and Goddard but the tour given by Christina Ivie helped me make the decision to stick to Primrose. Did not ask to see my ID and did not introduce herself. Felt unwelcome - not sure if she was busy or she assumed we couldn't afford the school based on our physical Appearance."
"I was so nervous about putting my little guy in preschool especially post Covid but I am so happy I did. Goddard is so great. Every single staff member has been so sweet and caring. My son is happy when I pick him up and his teachers are so attentive. I've been so over the top about his food intake and need to eat because of some weight concerns and his teachers have committed to feeding him every single hour. Honestly I'm just grateful and 100 percent recommend this school."
"This YMCA on Laura Street is located in the basement of the Bank of America building, affectionately referred to as the "dungeon". Convenient for people who work downtown and want to take in a quick class for lunch break, or just workout before or after work. Parking is easy enough on the street if you go before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. but during business hours parking will be challenge. This Y has limited hours too, being open Monday through Friday only. The equipment is also limited but they have a little of everything you would want to use. For me personally I would prefer more cardio machines with personal televisions. The treadmills have them, but on the direct tv system they are difficult to navigate channels. The pros here is that it never gets too crowded, they give you a key for a locker and have free towel service. The locker rooms have been upgraded also, so they are pretty nice. The cons are getting to and from this Y means waiting for an extremely slow elevator and the strong musty smell that makes it feel like it is hard to breath down there. Overall it is okay if you are supplementing your visits to other Ys but I would not replace my gym with only this branch."
"My daughter attends this daycare, she and I absolutely love it. They take their time getting to know your child and you as a parent. They are welcoming and loving. My daughter felt at home immediately. From the owner to the staff I have no complaints and would definitely recommend this day care to anyone. Mrs. Senetra was so helpful and awesome with communication. Mrs. Chris makes you feel loved as soon as you walk through the door. Mrs. Trinia was her teacher and she checked on my daughter and myself when my daughter was absent She kept me updated in my child progression and development. Just awesome all the way around."
"This is the best Gym I've ever been a member of. My son and I were both members. They based the monthly fee my upon my salary, which really helped. I really liked the locker room and the warm fresh towels they would give you when you needed one. I have been thinking about re-joining. Ernie and I both need to start working out. I love the pools as well. They have an Olympic size pool and then a smaller heated pool. The only bad part it is, it's not real close to home. But, it truly is worth the drive. *Highly recommended"
"Things have much improved at this facility. I still try not go go on school holidays or over the summer because I am afraid it will be too crowded with older kids, but things have been MUCH calmer in our visits since."
"My toddler loves attending Tutortime. When we ask him if he likes it he says "it's his favorite thing to do". Tutortime has a caring staff and they provide updates throughout the day to let you know how your child has been doing along with sending photos. Getting the updates and the pictures are my favorite part of the day to see that he is interacting with peers and how long he napped for. They have reasonable prices and are not too far from our home. He is more talkative and outgoing now that he has been in daycare. This was one of the best decisions we made."
"My two children also attend O2B Kids Palencia Academy. The director, Mrs. Katie, leads a very good team.Mrs. Delly is always easy to coordinate the children's administrative matters with. The days pass in a family atmosphere with Mrs. Lu, Ms. Pat, and Ms. Anne Marie for the youngest. My son quickly fell in love with the place and his potty training is going well.In the VPK group, Ms. Jen and Ms. Ali playfully prepare the children for the tasks expected in kindergarten. It is a great relief for us parents that both children are happy to go to their classes in the morning."
"The teachers here are amazing they share a close relationship with the parents in helping each child succeed, my daughter has been attending since VPK and she gets excited going everyday. The hardest part was trusting someone with my infant son and when he started they sent pictures and I knew that he was getting fed and changed with the app they offer which put my mind at ease. I would recommend La Petite Academy off U.S 17 to anyone."
"This location and Brooks both have indoor pools. Currently, there's an online reservation system in place to reserve time for lap swims (30 or 45 minutes), just remember to bring your own towel (no towel service). If you decide to hop on any of the cardio machines at the Winston Y, you'll enjoy amazing views of the St. John River as you burn off some calories. One major plus for us is that Winston Y also offers later Sunday afternoon hours whereas other locations more convenient to us close by 1pm on Saturday & Sunday. Getting kids up and to the gym early on the weekend is challenging enough so the Sunday afternoon hours are greatly appreciated! COVID details: Temp checks as you enter, wipes and reminders everywhere to wipe down equipment before & after use. Masks are required in the lobby, waiting for classes to begin, locker rooms & optional when using cardio & strength machines as long as social distancing is maintained. Cardio machines are also marked off for distancing."
"My 5 month son has been in the great care of all the caregivers and staff at this location and I have never once picked him up crying or screaming. He has been so happy to be there and I am so thrilled of how gracious all the employees are!One of the best features they offer is their Kids Report App that sends me notifications of what is happening with my son throughout the day. For any new parent that can keep your nerves at ease. They keep my son active and don't just let him sit which makes me happy he's so engaged all day. Place is always so clean and sterile and it's well decorated. Beautiful environment filled with the energy of the staff and how happy they are to care and love the precious children. If you need a great and loving daycare this place/location is the BEST one. If you want a place that your child is so well attentive while learning social skills with fellow peers this is the place!!!! I was so nervous leaving my son (first time mommy) to go back to work but knowing how happy my son is and how great the communication is with the staff I never worry which makes me one happyMommy!!!"
"I absolutely love The Goddard School! Our situation is a bit different and they were very accommodating. We ended up taking a temporary spot for the month of November, and I hope that a full spot opens soon for my child. The teachers are so caring and they make sure that they treat your baby with care! We were in the "lovable lobster" room, and each one of his teachers were awesome. I enjoy the tadpoles app that they use also - which is where they upload your child's daily report... how much he ate, diapers, and pictures of your child following the curriculum. Whenever my baby comes home he is tired but happy! I also have never questioned the cleanliness of the school. This school has def set a high standard for me when looking for daycares in the future!"
"Our son attended T's for 5 months. While he seemed to enjoy going there, we dealt with a number of issues while in attendance. They were bought by Kindercare and are going through some changes so maybe some of our issues are due to that. Nothing was consistent- his teachers changed constantly, they would transfer him (and only him) to another room to meet ratios, events in the app weren't updated (they claimed internet issues), and their curriculum was rarely shared. Two year olds live for consistency, structure, and a nurturing environment for learning but we didn't find that at T's. Every day at pickup the kids were running around wild with loud music on. Absolute chaos. Every time our son had a bowel movement at daycare they said he had a "blowout" and they had to change his clothes- this never happens at home but was happening 2-3x per week at daycare!! Come to find out, they were not putting his diaper on properly. On more than one occasion we observed (different) relief teachers yelling across the room. One even abruptly grabbed several children by the arm to line up, without verbally telling them what was expected of them before doing so. Communication about staffing changes were rarely upfront- when they reorganized the classrooms a few months ago, they sent out an email the night before all kids were moved to different room locations and assigned different teachers. There was no indication to families before this happened so everyone was unprepared on Monday. On a positive note, the administrative staff (especially Ms Latroya) were very sweet and always willing to listen to our concerns. Unfortunately, while some of our concerns were addressed, the changes that were promised to us were never implemented nor communicated to us as to why they weren't implemented. We have since moved to another daycare center and are wondering why we didn't move sooner."
