"Red Peas soup is always a hit! I am always a happy customer when I have the soup. The restaurant vibe is bright and welcoming."
"Love the food! The place is not the best looking, the staff is a bit abrupt once in a while and the wait time may be a little long sometimes, but I still find myself here once a month, at least. When the food is this good, it's worth the time :)"

Visit Restaurant PageJerk chicken is a popular Jamaican dish known for its flavorful and spicy profile. It involves marinating chicken in a blend of spices and herbs, which often includes ingredients like scotch bonnet peppers, allspice, thyme, garlic, and ginger. The marinated chicken is then traditionally cooked over a wood fire or grill, imparting a smoky and aromatic quality to the meat.

"Got an absolute feast from @spices_jax Caribbean restaurant. The amount of food you're given is easily enough for two, maybe three meals. A regular combo gets you one meat and two sides. A jumbo, two meats and two sides. So we got the regular beef stew combo with yellow rice and fried sweet plantains and a jumbo combo of oxtail, curry goat, white rice, and sweet plantains. We also got a side of mac and cheese.Everything was fantastic. The curry goat in particular was excellent. Just a touch of heat that kind of starts in the back of your throat, tingles up the back of your spinal cord, massages your cerebellum for a bit before landing in your cerebrum for the duration of your bite. The oxtails were meaty and tender. And I love that they give you enough sauce to drench the absolute unit of a serving of rice you get with your combos. The mac and cheese is great and topped with what appears to be an entire block of cheese. Tasty to be sure, but a bit on the greasy side. Overall, a great little spot in Arlington that everyone should check out."
"Yesss.. authentic Caribbean cuisine. This place has the best jerk chicken rice and peas north of Jamaica. Although they have some seating available it's preferably takeout at this time as they just opened. I heard rhet deliver locally. The menu changes daily but it's also Fish Fridays. The curry chicken is so tender, just fall off the bone. I look forward to trying the oxtails and brown stew next time."
"SERVICE / AMBIANCE: We walked in around 4PM on a Friday and were sat right away. We were given the lunch menu so I guess they were still serving lunch. FOOD: I ordered the Sangria which was very refreshing and would recommend. We ordered the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer. I didn't quite like these as the flavor was different than a typical Buffalo flavor. Sadly, my husband got a bloody wing and we were done eating the appetizer after that... My husband ordered the Lobster Roll with a side of Bay Chips. He loved it so much he ate his entire plate. Needless to say, he would recommend this dish. I ordered the Smashburger with fries. I asked for no pickle or onion and still got the pickle and onion on my burger. The Smashburger wasn't anything special in general and was quite thick for a Smashburger patty. The fries were tasty however."
"Good day, I wanna share a recent experience I had a Eva's Jamaican Kitchen. I'm not interesting in bashing them so I waited a week before writing this review. Understand that I am a champion for Caribbean cuisines. And every state that I visit and stay I always have an eye open for a local Caribbean style restaurant. So here's my own personal experience.I was in the area for a medical exam that required me not to eat from the night before and my appointment was at 10 AM. So by the time it was completed it was lunchtime and I was more than ready to eat anything at this point. Lol, using Yelp I found this Caribbean restaurant that I had never eaten from before in Jax's. So why not give it a go. They were only seven minutes or so from the medical facility.Eva's kitchen is located in a small shopping center so there was plenty of parking. Upon entering their clean facility I place my order with ease. I probably waited about approximately 10 minutes and the food looked delicious ( they show you your order before they pack it away and hand it to you ). The service was quite professional.I had a beef patty with a Coco bread which was really fresh and a bottled drink soon as I got into my car lol and I save the food for dinner which we had proximately three hours later. I warmed it in the microwave for two minutes and let it sit for about three and then my wife and I sat down to enjoy. In the midst of our conversation about how our day went my wife turned to me and said this chicken taste old and that the rice and the food in general was lacking seasoning. I was definitely surprised because she was eating jerk chicken. I had the ox tails. And I must admit that it didn't have that flavorful taste ( punch / zing ) that I'm used to having when eating this particular Caribbean dish. Now I had to order their jerk mac & cheese as a side dish. I was confident that it would win her over. There is a lot of four star reviews for this Caribbean style mac & cheese dish. So when we both started eating it we quickly had a fork filled with chicken gristle from the joints. It was definitely ruining our dining experience. We questioned why wouldn't they filter out the gristle and bone splints from the chicken when they added it to the mac & cheese ? The jerk mac & cheese had good flavor but we had to eat the Jerk mac & cheese with caution because who wants to bite down on a chicken joint/gristle.I am disappointed in the experience. But I must note that they have more positive reviews than negative. And I am willing to give them another try but at a later date."
"Thanks to FB events I saw El Taino was having a guest singer for Valentine's so I invited some friends and we joined for a early dinner. The singer had started so the restaurant had a energetic feeling already as I walked in.. The place was decorated all adorable for the occasion..red tablecloths and cute balloons. I ordered a chicken empanada and Sorullo de Maiz.. they are like corn fritters with cheese..sweet and perfectly cooked..my fav now..mmmm I had the Cubando sandwich which came with a nice side of crispy fries. The bread of the Cabano was melt in your mouth delicious.the sandwich was so big I took half home.El Taino has a Miami feel. Its full of family's, couples and friends. It felt more like I was at a party than just having dinner. The service was friendly and those around us also gracious. It's a fun spot and if you know me I like FUN!"
"Nice place in St. Augustine that has live entertainment and a wonderful beach vibe. I didn't see a single person not enjoying themselves. The food is good for the most part but my flounder was little dry on the Carribean Coconut Catch but it was still good. My wife absolutely love the Rum Scallops which were nice and tender. Not overcooked at all. This place is a must visit in St. Augustine. Highly recommend."
"Oh my goodness! The food is delicious! Everything I have tried has given me a reason to continue coming here. And the owner is so nice! I love it here!"
"i was cruising around the streets of St A today and saw a brightly colored food truck/trailer. Tropi Cali truck was the new place I see. When I pulled up I was a little bit confused. I looked at the truck and I have seen a lot of trucks. Then I look over to the same logo and paint on a building. I looked truck one way building the other. I walked up to the truck and Sam a cute little thing says hey first time ha? Yep can you tell and I looked back at the building. There were a couple of guys enjoying their food and they told everyone that I was in for a treat. I had to ask Sam what up over there? She quickly told me that they have indoor seating and are soon expanding to work out of the building. Now this is a first to me. Now I have heard of truck owners moving into a brick n mortar but never a truck parking in the same lot as their brick n mortar. Now we got to talking and I quickly learned that they have been open for 8-9 months now. They are kind of out of the way but have a very loyal local following. Cool that is always a good thing. Ok small talk over let's go into the food. After learning that I was a newby she told me you have to try the jerk chicken riblets. When she handed it to me I knew right off the bat what it was. The drum section of a chicken wing. But it was full of flavor and super tender. They also had some jerk sauce, shredded coconut, and green onions on top. Really good is the first words that came to mind. Remember we call ourselves Jamamerican having traveled there a bunch of times. I ,over onto the taco side not being hungry enough for a burrito cause I knew that they would be huge. I decided on two tacos. One of shrimp and the other of beef. Both with the works which is cabbage, cilantro, and fresh made salsa. They also came with some chips. I quickly dug into these things soon as a figured out how to get it into my mouth. I will say that they are huge and you better be hungry when you order here. The beef was really good tender and juicy and mixed well with all of the fixing that went a long with them. The shrimp taco was just as big and just as tasty. The shrimp were cooked well and had a bit of heat to them also. I will say that Rick (owner) Sam and Mike are really good folks that just want to serve you some awesome food. So when in St A head a little farther north and they will be on your right. Do it I said so."
"I love the plantains, cabbage, wings, fried shrimp and beef Pattie's at De Real Ting. Their Caribbean food isn't the best in Jacksonville and I hate that you have to ask for sauce because every time I've ordered the Jerk Chicken it's dry, and then I have to order 4-6 sauces which is beyond me.They have live bands sometimes depending on the season and usually on Friday. Oh, you can also enjoy karaoke on Fridays inside of the cafe and I enjoy it every time. Friday downstairs is hip hop night and Saturday's is reggae night. But they honestly play reggae mixed in every single time.Downstairs in the club and a whole other world. It gets really hot, you won't have much service on your phone and you can smoke downstairs as well."
"Jerk chicken lunch special with rice/beans and cabbage. Delicious as always! Great service! Thank you!"

Excited to see a Jamaican restaurant near my workplace! This place is still new so please don't mind the interior as they continue to put the restaurant together! The owner and staff were friendly and amazing :)I had the Curry Chicken Lunch special with Rice/Beans with Plantains. Very good flavor of the current blended together along with the carrots and potatoes. The spices are its right and along with the chicken. The meat was easy to pull apart with the fork. As a beverage, I got the Caribbean King Pineapple Guava juice. Very sweet, but refreshing as well.Definitely recommend to friends, family and work colleagues. Can't wait to revisit and try out the Jerk Chicken, Goat, Oxtails and beef patties!!!!

Amazing experience. The complimentary parking is so convenient and the guys were super friendly. The location is on the water creating the perfect ambiance for dining. Our server was such a sweetheart and the food was delicious. One taste of the seafood dip and everyone began to order the same appetizer. It was just that good. The portions are large!!! The drinks are good too. I really loved myNight out at Pusser's.

You can always count on "Auntie" Eva to serve up some of Jamaica's finest authentic cuisines. Jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, curry chicken... she doesn't miss! I always have to order chicken patty and coco bread for the ride home. If you're ever in the area and have a taste for some real west Caribbean food then you must stop in and give it a try!

Man, this place used to be off the hook back in the day with cars parked up and down the street; busy, busy, busy. They've been fairly quiet the last several many times we've been in over the years unless you wanted to wait to be seated in one of their cool unique Jamaican style grass huts over the water; you'll wait for that but it's fun. I'm only ever in these days to run up a tab at their tiki bar on the marina but my brother used to like taking me here to eat. Lots of good times. Lots of good memories.Wasn't too happy with yesterday. Bartender was unnecessarily gruff with us, uninviting, and unfriendly yet behaving obviously quite differently with his local yokel regulars. With two pedestrian drinks priced more than a handle of good rum and hospitality I'd fire someone over, we bailed and went somewhere else. Boo.

"Service and ambiance is fine. The food seems a bit Mexican. It was ok. We may need to give it another try. Oh and the menu sometimes doesn't list all the ingredients in a dish so my friend was picking something out of his meal. That's a peeve of mine I tend to ask "no chunky tomatoes, mayo or capers?" Depends on where I am eating"
"If you are in the Jacksonville area and due to the pandemic can't afford to travel to Jamaica, this food will take you there n back.Check you attitude at the door cause this that "act right" food. Dem jerk chicken wings, come on now! Mine was fresh, juicy, seasoned right. Rice and peas in jerk sous. Mac n cheese, smooth n cheesy with a light crunch on top. This meal after a long day at work, if you not right, you going to "act right" after eating this!"
"I'm hungry and I have no clue what I want. This rarely happens (side eye). Just left a community engagement meeting on the Northside (way north) and the bubble guts were getting loud. Then I noticed this place was still saved in bookmarks with varying reviews and no pics. :-/#$%# it - I can grab a quick snack then get a real meal later. I get off the highway and immediately feel a little sketchy about the area. Nothing really seems open even though it's after noon on a Saturday? Then I see the line! There's a line of patrons waiting at this small walk up take out stand! I park as tightly as I can and shuffle around some folks to peak at the menu. I was hoping for calallo & salt fish or ackee - but instead I see shrimp scampi? So this place has the bootleg Queens/Brooklyn vibe.Looked like several mothers were cooking away in the kitchen. Don't except smiles and warm welcomes. Place your order, pay, and step to the side and wait. Depending on what you order. That wait can get pretty long. (First time my patty took at least 10 minutes. But it's so good I couldn't complain - just go in with proper expectations.) There's a small outside patio for those that can't wait the drive/walk home to eat. But most take the food and run. As I'm waiting I notice a super tall built dude that walked out in a dockyard navy blue out fit that said "SECURITY"? Dude really? Me love: curry goat, beef patties(spiced nice), and carrot juice (so sweet).Be ready for all types of goodness. It's inexpensive and portions are huge.Spit fyah and a cuss: limited menu and no true vegetarian options - and no fishThis small walk up has been a staple for the area for over 30 years so I don't see them going anywhere for a long time. Keep supporting local business."
"Places kinda cut, but I found it on the way down traveling from Georgia to South Florida. Amazing food. The lady was extremely nice. I wish I had a place like this close to home. Will definitely make this stop by next time my head north or south again thank you so much."
"Found this place on Yelp and decided to try. Upon arrival I saw the sign that said they do not accept credit, so I had to go to the bank and get cash. I ordered the oxtail and jerk chicken, both large. They came with rice and peas and cabbage. The food was delicious and had good portions of everything!"
"I know this may be a bit controversial but I'm here to shake things up a bit, and willing to go out on the limb and say that Famous Jamaican has the BEST!!!!!!!, I said BEST!!!!!! Jamaican food in Jacksonville, HANDS DOWN!!!!Service, who cares about the service, I come here for the food. Oxtails, Curry Goat, Rice & Peas, Cabbage and Plantains. They can give it to me with a smile or a frown, who cares, just give me the Damn food and take my money. I welcome all challengers who consider themselves Jamaican food establishments against The (Champ) Famous Jamaican restaurant. And until someone proves me wrong, they hold the Title in my eyes. Go see for yourself Challenge!Stay Yelping my friends!"
"Margie's is just the the kind of place I look for when vacationing. Locally Owned and operated. There always seems to be a little extra in everything they do. A small but very beachy restaurant right across A1A from the ocean. Margie, originally from the Philippines, brings a wonderful work ethic, delightful personality and quite the array of tasty dishes with some Philippine and Caribbean flare, sprinkled with some American favorites. Everything on the menu looked delicious but I was only here once and it was Thursday, Blueberry Pancakes day! So blueberry pancakes it was! Lol. The cakes were thick but very light and fluffy on the inside. Lots of fresh blueberries, some butter and warm syrup with a side of extra crispy bacon and a delicious cup of hot coffee set the tone for a wonderful day! Margie's is at the top of my list for the next time I'm in St Augustine."
"Cute atmosphere and a good place for a quick vegan veggie bowl. Nothing super fancy if you're plant based but it's a nice option that's by the beach."
"I have dined here many times over the years. I would only order what I was familiar with, and always get an order of beignets. This place was run and owned by a quirky elderly lady. She ran a tight restaurant. The last time I was there, it seemed to be different. I believe maybe she sold out to retire. I actually liked it and enjoyed it more than ever. It's been a while since I have been here, but they are back on my radar again. I will go soon. You should too."
"Amazing Caribbean food that you NEED to try! I love the jerk chicken with rice and peas and cornbread! We found this place by driving by and could see the smoker going and could smell the fresh food from a mile away. We have ordered here many times now and the service is always exceptional and quality of food is superb!Ambience is casual with Jamaican beats playing while you wait for your meal.10/10 !Thank you Stars!"
"Amazing Jamaican Food!! Im a trucker and I was passing by, I happened to stop at the petro off the 95 going into Jacksonville. The food was fresh and the portions were big. Hospitality felt just like the islands I definitely recommend stopping here if you're passing through or in the area. Respect"
"This place was freaking delicious. We got a handful of items. Jamaican oxtails dinner, ackee and cod fish, beef patty, conch fritters, brown stew chicken, and a fried shrimp basket. Great price for what we got. The oxtail was so tender that the meat just fell off the bones. Beef patty was soft yet firm. So good. The cabbage, rice and peas were all great too! Reminds me of when I lived in south Florida. Def will come back! Not pictured is the fried shrimp basket."
"Stopped in on a Sunday night (during December/St Augie Christmas festivities) but we were able to get seated before the rush. Our server was really nice and personable. She took our orders quickly and had pleasant conversation. Our food arrived pretty quickly and was hot and steamy. Here's what we got and our thoughts: Fish and chips - very good. Very mild and large portions. Aloha chicken - a chicken breast (I chose grilled) with ham and pineapple on top. I'm a sucker for pineapple. It was very, very good! Really nice sandwich. Nachos with cheese for the kid - they were.... Ok. To be fair, our server did warn us that it wasn't queso (we assumed it wasn't) but that it was nacho cheese. Kid was more than happy with nacho cheese. But.... It was more like... plain cheddar cheese sauce, like what comes in the Campbells can. It wasn't great. We were a little surprised by our total when the bill came, until we noticed that they automatically included a "large party 18% service fee". There were three of us. Two adults and a kid. I guess we didn't realize that three people is considered a "large party." Overall... it was a decent meal."
"Saw this place on instagram and decided to take the drive to Regency mall parking lot to try it out. I ordered the oxtail Mac and cheese and some brown stew chicken. The wait wasn't long, which was good because it was super hot outside. The chef was very nice as well. The oxtail Mac and cheese was DELICIOUS!! The only thing I would say is if the oxtail were shredded it would be better because of the bones I had to pick through, but it was still very good nonetheless. The brown stew chicken was very good as well. The only complaint was the cabbage wasn't that good, but everything else was."
"My family and I looked forward to the experience at Seven Wonders. They did not disappoint. We would go again."
"This place is the best hang out for me and my husband. We enjoy the bar seating, the bartender is great, the drinks and food are delicious. Happy hour prices are the best too."
"Finally had an opportunity to try Buccaneers Jamaican Street Jerk. It is kind of hidden away behind another building so keep looking! First, even before you leave your car, the aroma is wafting out of their tiny little building and your stomach starts growling immediately. Wow did it smell delicious. I wasn't sure what to choose from all of the amazing dishes, and they offered me a sample of their Jerk Pork. So full of flavor. I decided to just start at the top with the Jerk Chicken plate - small. Comes with rice or rice & beans and steamed cabbage. There is nowhere to eat on site, and by the time I got home it was still steaming hot and amazing. Jerk seasoning was on point. Not too hot. Gravy on the rice was their oxtail gravy and it was so good. I will definitely be back. For some dishes (fish ones in particular) it is best to do a call ahead since they take more time. They also have a daily lunch special, which I believe is from 11-2."
"We were craving some good Jamaican food and this place had a few decent reviews. So we slid in to check it out. Upon first entering-the menu was extremely limited and they didn't have anything i could eat (as I'm a pescatarian). We decided to leave. On the way out, we were stopped by Balla the owner. He asked why we were leaving and after we told him-he said he make something with shrimp. So nice of him. That kind of thing tells me his business matters to him. He made a curry shrimp and rice and beans. The rice and beans was so good! Super flavorful and would totally go back just for that and Balla's customer service. The shrimp was ok-but the rice and beans! It would be awesome to see all the things this place has to offer."
"Don't let the lack of fine dining decor steer you away from this little gem of a restaurant. If you like jerk chicken and authentic Jamaican food your going to love this place! With very little seating, one small table with two chairs and a couch, this is mostly a takeout restaurant. The food is amazing, the jerk is perfectly seasoned, it's spicy but not hot, so you enjoy the flavor. The owner has his grill right out in front of the restaurant and the smell of his food let's you know he's a master of the grill. And from the kitchen everything is sooo good! The oxtails are the best I've ever had, rich meaty falling off the bone, you will want to eat them alone isuck the bones clean! :DThe curry goat, beef patties, brown stew fish are all delicious and the owners are super nice and happy to have your business.I highly recommend this establishment."
"When you walk in and hear the music it instantly lifts your mood, like you should be somewhere in the Caribbean. The food is pretty good. The chicken and rice is a very generous portion. The seasonings used on the chicken were very good. The spicy shrimp had just the right amount of heat. Served with a side salad and a large portion of yellow rice. Happy hour from 5-8pm. This leads me to my only disappointing time of the evening. The guys each ordered a beer. They wanted to order a second one before the happy hour ended but the bar tender avoided coming back until exactly 8pm."
"Tried the Jerk and Curry Chicken with rice & peas from here. I'm a fan. They pack the container with food which is awesome. Located in the Advance auto parts parking. To go only since there is no outdoor seating at least the couple times I've been."
"As soon as I walked in, it smelled amazing! The lady, that took my order, was my order, was great. I spent about $21.00 But it would be 3 meals for me. I got the beef patty, the crust was flaky and the beef inside, was like a minced beef. It was good. The rice and pea's was good, and the Oxtails, was falling off the bone! I've never cooked Oxtails, other people have for me. But this will be my go-to place for Oxtails. They were so tender, oh, I also got cornbread and corn, the corn was just corn, the Cornbread was sweet and moist. For me it was amazing, I will be back."
"In true Jamaican fashion, we left full and happy! This place is a true gem! Hubby and I were just wandering towards home and decided to stop anywhere that caught our eye. Happened upon this spot purely by chance and thrilled we did! I eat like a bird so I just ordered a side of rice and peas and some plantains. Hubby had the "small" jerk plate with fries. There was nothing small about any of this! We could have easily fed us both with just his plate, even if I was a pig! There were at least four pieces of chicken and I broke some up and ate it with my rice. The food was amazing! Everything cooked and spiced to perfection. To be clear, this is a Jamaican BBQ spot, another reviewer was out off by the sauce but that's how Jamaican bbq comes! I also totally disagree with the burnt ends being bad, those are the best parts! Everyone knows that, there's an entire restaurant called burnt ends! Everything we had was fantastic and I can't wait to come try more! The curry is supposed to be amazing. I've been to Jamaica and while no expert, I really felt it was an authentic flavor and feel. 100% will return!"
