Visit this park if you are looking to enjoy a nice walk or a jog. Very nice views of the water. When walking the "boardwalk" there were many little crabs running about. I think sand crabs someone told me

Okay so I would rate this much higher due the amazing water walkway and pier, but there's some many negatives that should be fixed, as the park could be amazing. Positive: Lots of fishing areas and appears very family friendly. Trail is easy--start to finish about 2.5 miles, mainly shaded. Has fitness challenges along the route. Water pier and walkway is beautiful a must see as you can see the whole city. Negatives: The trail cuts off by A fallen tree so you have to walk back and walk half the way down a road. Garbage on the walk is alot even though they have plenty of trash cans. There is so much parking, yet everyone parks in the grassy area, and in the grass by the main entrance and back area. So sad because it ruins the park!

Years ago when my sons were young, we were at Blue Cypress frequently. First because of the proximity to our home...but also because it is a beautiful space! There was a huge pool at Blue Cypress back then and my boys were on the swim team. Whem we weren't at practice or swim meets, we'd often be at the pool nights and weekends enjoying ourselves, cooling off from the oppressive heat! Some years ago, the pools just disappeared. From what I have read, the city is supposed to be building a bigger and better one at some point.Recently I decided to stop by Blue Cypress and check out walking paths. So glad I did! An awesome scenic paved trail leading to the river. It is wide enough to accommodate multiple pedestrians...bicycles also, but I wish they had a separate path for each. You will find people walking and jogging with babies and dogs. There are quite a few cats that hang out here-not sure if they are feral or it-and there is almost always someone making sure the cats have food and water. The surprise at the end of the path is a beautiful view of downtown and beyond. Sometimes accompanied by lovely sunsets! There is a fishing pier and also a fairly lengthy wooden walkway by the water. It does need some work-loose nails and boards popping up here and there. Some rotting boards too. Watch your step. Wander off the walkway a bit into the woods and you will find a picnic area. The golf course is currently under renovation. The restrooms are locked and there are a couple of porta potties ourside the main building near front of the park, by the playground equipment. I'm not going to sugar coat it, they are gross! I would not use them. These are the only restroom facilities at the park. This is concerning as apparently there is no handicapped accessible restroom. On weekends especially, you will see soccer games going on at the front of the park. Unfortunately I've also witnessed a lot of trash following those games. Recently it seems that more trash cans have been placed around thst area. I hope they are being used. The is a small playground area which appears to be safe and you will see kids playing there all the time.A tip about the walking path to the river...right beside it there is also a paved road for cars. The walkway and road are separated by a few feet of woods and greenery. Most people seem to understand that the road is for vehicles. But I have seen a car driving down the walking path. Be aware of your surroundings! The two are not marked clearly. I have never felt threatened being at the park alone, although usually I'm accompanied by my son and a ferocious Yorkie lol. There are several stations in different areas with dog bags and trash cans Still, watch out for poo, because not everyone uses the bags! The park hours are unclear. Several signs have conflicting hours. Online indicates the park is open 7-7. But I have left at 7 many times while there were still many people present. We are fortunate to have this wonderful open area to breathe some fresh air! You should go!

We have been looking for a place to take the dogs for a good walk with a safe change of scenery, so we stopped by this lovely park to check it out. There is a great paved trail good for walking the dogs or riding bikes. The trail has doggie bags and waste bins, so that makes it easy. We walked the boardwalk along the St Johns river and while we really enjoyed the nice walk, we would not recommend walking the dogs or attempting to ride a bike on the wooden path. There are a few rough spots that could cause splinters in the paws, and it is a bit narrow to ride a bike by potential pedestrians. We really enjoyed the nice walk watching the river and there are even a few spots you can walk down off the boardwalk to the sandy shores of the river or off into the woods for a picnic in the shade. The playground equipment looked a little faded but otherwise nice and clean. Overall I really enjoyed this park and would take on the various paths and the scenery again.

This is a great place for people, children, dogs on leashes, for hiking, fishing, picnicking, or for sun and fresh air. A little bit of country right in the middle of the big bold city of Jax. I love this place and have been coming here for many years. There is no charge to enter. Fish off the docks or off the shoreline. See a dolphin or others once in a while. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

There is no access to the fishing pier. They have removed a section of the walkway dock and blocked it off. The walkway along the river has been replaced*, but not the dock out to the covered fishing area. I walked alone the newly rebuilt walkway a short distance and noticed the *contractors had drove the screws too deep causing the wood to split at the ends of the top rail boards. This was just un-necessary and shoddy work, which will cause rotting issues. Shame on them AND the city for accepting this type of poor workmanship.Hopefully the repairs to fishing pier area will soon be underway, and professional craftsmen installing screws properly. When are the dock repairs expected be completed? Let's see if this post survives or if it will even post?I'll be back to post some photos soon.

Very nice one mile trail for a stroll. Water from the ocean makes for some fishing and relaxing. Easily get in and out from the parking lot.

Started walking here back in 2017. They've allowed the water to push further up the bank towards the wooden shank boardwalk. They used to purposely dump sand on the bank to keep the river at bay. Now the water is pushing further towards the boards destroying the wood faster. They do take longer to fix parts of the boardwalk that is damaged than they used to. It was very clean up until a couple of years ago. There is a couple of homeless now living in the woods making the bathrooms disgusting and constantly littering. Doesn't make much sense since there's a police substation right next to the wooded area which should make it easier to police. Plenty of space to fish and do cardio. There's a lot of folks who allow their animals to crap on the wooden boardwalk without even cleaning up after them. People do often smoke weed while enjoying the trail which isn't very bothersome. If you're looking for a beautiful walk with lots of nature, scenery, and views this park is for you. On the weekends you are better off parking In the back. The flag football field makes the front crowded with nowhere to park as they park in the grass.
