1st time in Jacksonville & I stopped by this spot one morning for the pancakes, but they were out. It doesn't look like like much. But the beautiful cashier was so nice & patient with me since I was a 1st timer. I ordered the Steak Egg and Cheese sub, and my goodness, it was huge & soooo delicious. All that sammich for $14.95. They have a nice variety, but you have to get there early because once it's gone, it's gone.

Food has a decent taste. Ordered a cheese burger combo. At. $17.95 very expensive for lunch. No one in restaurant. I think prices are keeping people away. Fries weren't really super fresh. Don't see how they stay open after looking at other menu items and comparing prices.

I really hate to do this because my expectations were so high remembering this place from a different location. I used to visit the Blue Boy when it was on Ft. Caroline and University. It was the best thing in the sandwich business. I had wanted to go to this one for quite sometime since the other one closed. I wanted for my husband to taste this and know what I would talk about when I mentioned Blue Boy. Upon arrival, there were 3 people in front of us. Two girls working, one on register other on grill. They both looked miserable and not too pleasant in speaking to them. We ordered our sandwich and drinks and sat down. There was no one in the dining area at all, so we figured we would be served quickly. That's where it was a terrible experience. We sat down and waited nearly 45 minutes for our sandwich. We ordered fries with cheese and bacon that came out after we had eaten half our sub. The sandwich, I got the chicken Philly. The bread was just as delicious as I remember. Homemade!! There was very little filling though even though what was in there was good. It's still seems to be the same size as back in the day, so you still get basically two subs out of one. My husband got the turkey, bacon, ranch. He said he was impressed after us being there for what seemed like an extremely long time. The fries came out and were not worth what we paid for them. The place itself could be more inviting and the decor updated. I don't know that I will be back as now I know how much it has changed and the service just wasn't there. Seems to be very under staffed.

OMG these sandwiches are off the chain big and delish. I ordered the chicken salad round with lettuce tomato and whatever else they put on it. Good gosh was it huge and delicious. There is a wall of fame for all the big boys that have eaten their weight in subs and burgers. The seating area is adequate for sitting down and pigging on your behemoth meal. If you get a round and have a friend, think about getting one and spitting it, unless you're saving it for dinner. Service was amazing with the ladies up front having this whole ordering and feeding hungry folks down to a science. I came during a past lunch time hour, so I would advise to call your order in if you're ordering for lunch because I can only imagine this place is slammed. Definitely needs more than 5 stars

Best place to grab some lunch with the co workers and eat real good. Price is definitely worth the portion of the food. The place is quiet and lots of places to sit parking lot is a bit small for parking, also fyi it's a good idea to call ahead your order wait time could be a little long, other than that nice chill place.

I used to love Blue Boys. The sandwiches were yummy and a good value. I know it's been 4 years since I've been there, but damn it shouldn't have changed that much. This is my last time eating here, I know it's been open since 1962, but when it costs $100 to feed 4 people sandwiches, it's time to close the doors. Next time I'll go get steaks. It will be cheaper. It's not just the cost, mind you the sandwiches just aren't what they were 4 years ago either. Does this place have new owners or what? I know not too many people in that area can afford $23 for half a sandwich that used to cost $14 whole. Service was so slow, not a soul there when we arrived, and still waited almost 45 min for cold cut sandwiches.

BEST sandwiches we've ever had! My husband and I were leaving the Jacksonville zoo and looking for a place to eat with good sandwiches. We came upon this place and boy were we happy! I think the bread is fresh baked. It was so soft and delicious. The amount of meat in my husband's sandwich was unbelievable, and I had the chicken salad, which was super delicious and not too much mayonnaise which is what I like. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the best sandwich ever!

This was the first time going to this place that's been around a long time. The food was fantastic. The #8 was exactly what they said. Tasted great. I can't wait to go back and try more. You better not be in a hurry though. They warn you so you can't be upset about it. Ha

I got the chicken bacon ranch sub and it was delicious! I chose to have my chicken fried and it was Crispy and juicy. They didn't go skimpy on the bacon and had the right amount of lettuce and tomato. The fries were fress byt could do with a little more seasoning. Be aware if they are busy you will have to wait a bit but they have a seating area and it is totally worth it. Will definitely stop by again.

When they say big....they mean BIG! I wasn't expecting too much with the homemade bread, but it was the freshest yeast bread I've ever had. The sandwich is worth the price and I will definitely be back. The #9 steak sub was a lot smaller than the Reuben sub which was annoying, but both tasted fantastic. It also looked like they were made earlier even though I ordered it for pick up at 11. Otherwise, the experience was great and I am so happy I ordered ahead (super busy around lunch time). The store was also pretty clean and organized and the staff were welcoming without being overly friendly.
