Big Al's Chicken Shack

Literally just left here 20 minutes ago after being on the road for five hours. I wolfed the chicken sandwich. I had to have before an event, and it was good enough. Average may be a little above average nothing spectacular.But the three stars are for NOT having homemade dressing for the Greek salad. Swear to God, I'm getting really tired of having to ask if salad dressing is homemade, if iced tea is from a gun, if the desserts are made in house. Does everyone just buy stuff from Cisco and sell it as their own?

I have been here a couple of times. They close at 8, after 7:45 they will not let you order. Customer service is good as long as you don't stop them from leaving at 8.Every time I have come I had the chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce. The tenders are very good but the sauce is hit or miss. Once i got a good covering and the next almost non existent. I hear of the biscuits but have never actually seen one. The fries are good, crinkle but and always fresh and crispy. The slaw is just OK, I recommend trying something else. They only have a small size cup, this is fine while you are there but when you leave you cannot take much with you.The service is OK. They try to meet your needs, ask if you want more sauce etc, but do not deliver well, I have had to ask for things multiple times. The offer, if they can't deliver they just shouldn't offer. I keep going back for the fresh food but they could step things up a bit.

So after seeing the reviews we were excited to come try it. The place is located along a strip mall off 14th Street and offers plenty of parking. Very clean inside and the decor fits the theme. I got the Big Bird Chicken Sandwich w/ fries and my wife got the 3 piece chicken strip meal. The presentation of the meal was great. Huge sandwich with 2 strips of chicken inside. Comes with their own sauce mix, had a honey mustard theme.My first impression on taste was the chicken wasn't seasoned well and the chicken was slightly overcooked. On the chewy side. The fries were hot and fresh. My wife's strips where the same overcooked and not seasoned well. I can taste the seasoning on the batter but nothing on the chicken. I had to salt my chicken between bites. She also got the collard greens and Mac n cheese as her sides, also comes with a homemade biscuit. The collards were overly salted beyond eatable and the Mac n cheese was drowning in cheese sauce. Like a cheesy soup. Biscuit tasted great. I'm sorry to say Zaxby's won't be losing my business and I'll be hard pressed to come back. I was hoping for a local wow factor. So disappointed. Season the chicken before cooking people. Gordon Ramsey would be yelling at you.

Wings were great and so were the biscuits. Customer service from the employees was just ok. If I lived close I'd come back!

We went on vacation because it was raining so we went in just because we wanted to be out of the rain and it was right close. Food was ok, chicken grossed me out. I really wanted to try the mac and cheese but wasn't sure, and let me tell you.... THAT BISCUIT it was SO good! The service was bad, took over an hour for our food to come out, the biscuits came out at separate times. i wouldn't go back

Nice place on the island. We had the chicken sandwich and wings. Both were good. Place was clean and staff was friendly.

All of the staff were extremely nice and respectful. Food was fresh and very tasty. The place was well decorated and clean. Not very busy, definitely deserves more attention.

The chicken tenders were huge and meaty! The breading could have a little more spice, but overall very good!

Big Al's chicken is always the best. We live off island but often make the trek over the bridge for our Friday night treat. And their sides are so great. We love the red beans and rice and fried okra and potato salad. Have not had a bad side ever. And did I forget they have The absolute best biscuits on the planet. The employees go out of their way to take care of you. Highly recommend.

Food is good, fast service, large selection. Wings are smoked- not fried...also good selection of sides and like side salad.
