Last night I had the privilege of seeing Jimmy Hall and Phil Swindle in the "Art of Soul" concert.I was 1 of the 100 fortunate people to score a ticket to this soulful concert. The concert was held in the Chapel on the grounds of the Museum. It is small, cozy and the acoustics amazing.Phil Swindle and I attended the same high school and he definitely had a following last night from years past. So many past classmates made their way to the beach to hear the soulful sounds. What a great place to have an intimate evening with wonderful tunes.

Wonderful, small, and FREE museum, highlighting Jacksonville Beach in the early days. We loved seeing the pictures of the Jacksonville Beach boardwalk and what life was like then. Both my boys love history and I've been meaning to make a trip over to see this museum. It's quaint and packed with lots of information, including the Mocama Indians. Loved see the Beaches Chapel as well. We spent 2 hours today reading and learning so much. Every volunteer at the museum was so helpful. We enjoyed our visit and I think you will too.

When I heard this museum was free to visit, I asked my aunt to join my son and I for a visit. She has been before, as she lives at the beaches, but this was our first time. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked to sign the guest book. They ask for donations instead of charging for admission. We were planning on just walking around and looking, but we were asked if we wanted to watch an introductory video first. We sat in the small theater while they set up the video for us. Afterwards, we were starting to walk among the exhibit when we were asked if we wanted to join the tour in the buildings outside. They had just started so we were able to walk over and join a couple and the docent. She walked us through the different buildings on site, told us about the history of each building, and gave us small snippets of information. Some of the buildings are historically preserved and have won awards for preservation. They have a model train set on display that runs, and they have a train engine that you can walk up into and explore. Overall, I think they have done a great job of presenting some beaches history, but we did feel a little rushed and didn't get to see all of the museum.

Saw Mama Blue last night in the chapel - wow what a wonderful night. We just love her - her voice, her energy and her vibe. Great space to hear music. Plenty of parking. Access to the entire museum area prior to the concert. Refreshments available for donation in the cabin before, during and after. Such a wonderful experience all the way around.

A nice little spot at the beach. Their outdoor buildings are very interesting, and the docents are extremely knowledgeable. They seem to have quite a few special events too, so check their calendar.

Get a Tour Guide for the Outlying Buildings!I visit every few months- I love the beach history. They have an extra room they rotate exhibits through. I have seen several local artist features. The Museum extends across the street- but you need a guide to take you through them (they stay locked). All of the staff are very knowledgeable and very sweet. Stop in and get your history on!

This is a neat museum of beach history and it's free ! Great for kids and adults. The only down side is that someone has to walk with you to unlock each location as you go. But they also serve as a tour guide which is nice
