Calm Place to Sit

Love this little park! I live nearby and enjoy sitting by the lions statue/fountain often. It's a quiet place to stretch out before/after going for a run. We attended the AMAZING arts festival here last year and are looking forward to it again. They hold beer festivals, charity runs, and more events in this small park. There is free street parking around the square. Note- there are no public restrooms at this park. The park is well maintained and they always update the landscaping each season. During the holidays, they put lights all over the park surrounding the Christmas tree under the gazebo. I love San Marco and it's many parks!

This is a beautiful park. Went here one morning about 2 weeks ago around 7:30 and some of the Christmas decorations were still up. It was a little cool that morning I had a cup of hot cocoa.....set down on one of the bench near the lions and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Balis Park is very pretty and a great place to sit and people watch. It's never overwhelmingly crowded and it's very peaceful. I came here recently for a yoga meetup. The park provided ample space for my yoga group to practice near the gazebo.

Small community space in San Marco, I've seen high school bands preform here, families enjoying the gazebo and space, it decorated for Christmas and more. I usually end up walking through this park because I have to park away from whatever business I am going to. I love the lions statue- it is iconic to San Marco. I've enjoyed sitting at one of the benches waiting for a friend, or ducking under the gazebo in a rain storm. If you've been to San Marco, chances are you have driven by or walked through this little park.

What do you say!!! There's a name for that tiny patch of grass that I have personally coined, "San Marco's Square." LOL! Honestly, I never knew the name of this park until I GPS'ed Balis Park for a Derby Day Fashion Show I've previously booked. Surrounded by local boutiques and eateries, this park is the centerpiece of San Marco.Comfortable enough for a relaxing evening; a quick stroll; or chatting with friends. One of my favorite landmarks whenever I have to meet up with friends or photography clients in San Marco. It always appear very well kept and I love how the groundskeeper or San Marco locals decorates this park for the holidays, especially during Christmas. I believe this park is the perfect location for a small wedding around the fountain and gazebo area.

This is mostly a small space with a gazebo, a statue of a few lions (that look a bit sad to me), and a few but pretty green spaces. A little park of sorts. It is surrounded by various restaurants across the streets. I didn't try any of them but I heard good things about them.It must be a nice place to sit down at dusk and just breathe a little, and I probably would've done that if I had been there at the right time. What I did do was to walk around, and it is refreshing, even though it is right in the middle of a couple of streets.

The Christmas tree has been turned on! It is beautiful and all must come see it. Balis Park is in the the middle is the San Marco "Square". It is a small but wonderful park for all to enjoy. They sometimes have special events out here. I took a picture of a Gator last time I was out here. It was right before the Georgia/Florida game. They have three beautiful Lion statues, a rectangular fountain, a wonderful gazebo, benches and table/chairs to sit & talk, read a book or just sit & relax. The best part of this park and San Marco is the roundabouts to slow the traffic down and has become very Pedestrian friendly. The rest of Jax. should take notice of this.

This is a small but beautiful park in the heart heart of San Marco square. My running group usually starts our weekend runs here and it is often full of runners, sometimes yoga groups, or other fitness fanatics willing to get up and out by 7 am. It is well maintained with a gazebo that would make for a picturesque photo background. There is usually plenty of street parking and enough choices to feed a post run appetite.

I'm from out of State and this is a charming park in the middle of 2 streets that form a quaint and inviting place to hang.. To kids frolicking in the park and fountain, to grandparents Pokemon hunting (swear to goodness) grabbing a cup of joe, to shops, adult Bevs, eateries n boutique shopping. A lil something for everyone ;-). Only drag... And this was from my personal experience... Most shops are closed on Sunday..
