We decided to swing by Anejo for some drinks and snacks on our way home during lunch hours--because who doesn't need tequila as a digestif? We got there at 2:50 p.m. and were seated by 2:55 p.m., just in time to be told, "Lunch menu? Oh, that thing? Nope, not for you. It's almost three o'clock." Never mind that there were still five minutes left on the clock--apparently, the kitchen was already emotionally done with lunch.Fine, no lunch deals for us, but brunch was still a go. So, we drowned our sorrows in three large Selena margaritas, because if you can't have affordable lunch tacos, you might as well drink like a queen. We also ordered the Mexican Street Corn appetizer, one El Cabo taco, and two Cancun tacos.Let's talk drinks. Those margaritas were huge, strong, and probably strong enough to erase the memory of being snubbed by the lunch menu. Solid win. As for the food...well, the corn didn't bother with seasoning, and the tacos were fine--but not the kind of fine that has you calling your mom to say, "Drop everything, you must try this taco."The saving grace? We sat outside, and the weather and view were pure perfection. Anejo: great place to drink, better place to snack lightly before realizing you should've eaten beforehand. Would I go back? Absolutely--for the margaritas. But next time, I'm showing up with a full stomach and my own watch.

This place serves a delightful array of tasty offerings. Very much underrated. Great service. Impressive decor. Parking can be a challenge. Valet is offered after 3 pm. Otherwise, street parking or the Publix lot nearby is available.Go and enjoy.

I recently visited Anejo in San Marco for a Friday lunch at 12:30 PM. I called a few minutes beforehand to check if they were busy, and I was told there was no wait. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted by the host and seated. My server approached me right away and asked if I was ready to order. Since I had just sat down, I requested a few minutes to look over the menu. I was on my lunch break and only had an hour, so my time was a bit limited. After deciding on my order within five minutes, I found myself waiting an additional 15 minutes for my server to return. I looked around but didn't see her. When she eventually came back, she apologized for the delay, and I placed my order. The food came out quickly, but the Paloma mimosa I ordered took another 10 minutes to arrive.I ordered the two-item cheese enchilada entrée, along with guacamole and chips. The food was excellent, and the drink was delicious as well. However, once I was ready for the bill, I had difficulty getting my server's attention. She was also bartending, and while she was busy, there were several other servers standing around chatting who could have helped me. The restaurant wasn't very crowded, so I found it frustrating that no one else stepped in to assist. When my server finally noticed, she apologized, explaining that she was both serving tables and bartending, which stretched her thin. To make up for the inconvenience, she kindly took my drink off the bill, which I appreciated, and I made sure to leave her a good tip.If I ever come back to this location, it would likely be just for a drink or maybe an appetizer, as I'd prefer not to dine at a restaurant that doesn't have attentive wait staff.

I drove past this place multiple times when I lived in the area and decided to stop in and try it. There were three of us, and we all enjoyed it very much. The chips and salsa were great. I felt like a bowl, so I decided on the shrimp and fish bowl, which was good. Someone else ordered a chicken burrito and had plenty of leftovers. I love the location and was glad some new restaurants were finally popping up. The decor is also super cute inside. Definitely recommend.

I was skeptical about this place after seeing the reviews, but gave it a try. So glad I did!!!!Located in San Marco by the new Publix, we parked easily.I ordered the pollo arroz or chicken and rice. The chicken was tender and full of flavor! Rice sat on top and then fresh avocado slices, topped with fresh pico and queso. Amazing!Service was good and the Ambience was casual. Great food and reasonable for lunch.Highly recommended.

Mid Mexican food for an overpriced budget. I've tried this new San Marco location which is extremely loud and hard to carry on any conversation with anyone; and the Riverside location. I've never fished my meals or come close to finishing my meals at either. I took both meals to go, never ended up eating my leftovers. Both locations 3 out of 5.The pretty ambiance, wide variety of drink selections, and late hours of operation are what score all the points for me. I do appreciate both locations I've visited staying open later than most nearby places. I've always had okay service as well. The food and drinks photogragh very well. The food lacks flavor.Best way I can think to describe the entrees I've tried: Let's say you hire a random assortment of practiced kitchen staff to make 10 - 20 staple Mexican dishes - the direction you give them when they ask where to source the recipes from is "refer to Google"Okay, that's what the food tastes like. What's the first, most popular clicked on recipe you find when you search "birria?" Perfect, let's go with that. Or Chimichurri steak? 1st recipe you find when searching that steak marinade/topping. That's what it tastes like they did at Anejo. No steak actually marinaded in chimichurri sauce. They just throw some on top of an overcooked, thin steak right before your entree gets delivered to your table. This reads harsh I know but, it's just my two cents. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no one is right or wrong, this is what my feedback is about Anejo as a whole. We have an overload of taco places in Jax. If I wanted to overpay for high end Mexican food, I'll hi tail it to TownCenter mall and dine at that restaurant we all know well there. Their food has more flavor and better quality than Anejo. But drinks are better at Anejo. The San Marco location needs to drastically improve their acoustics in the restaurant so it isn't so hard to hear the person you are trying to have a nice time with. For a fun bar + drinks, possibly a side or an appetizer, I recommend any Anejo. For any entree choice, I do not recommend Anejo. We have too much competition in Jax to be settling on eating something Mid, esp at their high price point.

Sorry anejo, I usually love you, but this location and experience was a 3/5.Atmosphere 4.5/5 sat at the outdoor bar where the fans blow so strong to keep bugs away, but also blow away ur menu and ruin your hair. But otherwise its a cute indoor/ outdoor space.Drinks 4/5 typical mexican restaurant margs. Nothing more to add. No beer list. Service 2/5 every time we wanted or needed something we had to flag down a bartender. Not attentive at all. Had to ask for waters, every round of drinks, food, and checks. It wasnt that busy yet everyone sitting next to us also had to flag the bartenders down, so it wasnt personal that we were ignored. Ordered large beers, got a small. Ordered tacos, didnt put the order in. Bathroom trash was overflowing all over the floor. Staff needs training asap.

Nicest Mexican restaurant in San Marco, parking is easy as it shares parking lot with Publix, menu is extensive and all items I have tried have been good and this option comes from a Mexican although I must say my favorite here is the grilled octopus and the size of the drinks here is definitely a reason many return it's a chill place to eat or just have a few drinks with friends food is good service is a bit slow but it is a new place and it seems to keep improving.

I went to Anejo for a random weekday birthday celebration and Taco Tuesday. This was my first time visiting the Hendricks location and rightfully so the aesthetics are beautiful . The restaurant was pretty empty and that was surprising to me, but it could have been due to the bad weather. We order a picture of the Selena margarita to share and it was pretty sweet in my opinion and I'm not sure if it ever gave me that punch that I would have gotten at a less trendy Mexican restaurant like La Nop. For my food I can't remember the name of the dish but it was essentially a skirt steak with chimichanga, veggies, rice and black beans, and my favorite sweet plantains . The meal was an A+++! The steak was cooked perfectly, medium as requested. It was just a really good plate of food. Our server was okay, he seemed to be new to serving and wasn't able to answer a lot of our questions without going to check with someone else first but he was pleasant outside of that. I would say this is a $$ restaurant so don't expect $4 tacos or to fill your belly for $10-$15. However if you want good food and cute photo op this is your place.

Great find for me via Yelp. Easy parking - by Publix. Great food and attentive service from Steph. Their house margarita was a good twist on a traditional margarita. Good ambience with large tv screens to watch sport. No hesitation in recommending Anejo Cocina San Marco would definitely visit again next time I'm in Jacksonville.
