Connie did a great job telling us about the history of Amelia Island. The trolley has an excellent sound system so you hear everything she says. The trolley is also air conditioned which is great when the feel like temperature rises well over 100. The tour started at 1230 and lasted around an hour and a half. This was our first time to Fernandina Beach so it was a great way to see where everything is and to learn things some locals are even unaware of. The tour goes through the Historic District and we were told what was originally there and which things are still there like the Palace Saloon. The Palace Saloon is the oldest continously running bar in the state of Florida. The current mayor is also a part time bartender there. We also discovered many historic homes and learned the stores behind them. One house we went past was built over 100 years ago after it was ordered from the Sears Catalog for $1,000.-. Another highlight was 3 identical houses inside and out built by a guy for his 3 daughters. There are way too many highlights to mention. The cost of the trip for my wife, three kids and myself was only $70. We more than got our money's worth. We were also allowed to bring our 4 month old puppy with us on the trolley. Connie asked the other guests if it was okay to bring her and they said it was ok. So they are pet friendly as long as the other guests are too. Great tour!

What a great time! Leo was our driver very fun and informative. Take the tour to learn about the island, see things you might otherwise miss or might want to go back and see more of and learn about. Sit on the left for the best pictures. On our tour they couldn't take plastic because the machine was in the other trolley which was broke down so be prepared.

It's better to do this on a nice day to see all the sites. Our trolley driver/tour guide was very informative. At times she lost her thought but overall it was ok. This tour is better for adults than kids. For $20/ person, it might've been a bit pricey but at least you get in all the sites and history.

This 1 1/2 hour tour has got to be a "must do" on anyone's visit to Fernandina Beach. Tours depart at 12:30 and 2:30 daily, just in front of Brett's on the waterfront and you pay your $20 per person when you board. It's an old trolley, and the seats are not the world's most comfortable, but if the tour isn't crowded (most aren't) you can spread out one person per seat which I believe is how it was designed to be used. Basically, the driver (Mel) takes you around old town, highlighting some of the beautiful Victorian and Queen Anne homes and sharing some great stories (ghosts, shootings, scandals and more). We stopped outside the Treasure Museum and got to meet Billy, who makes his living as a genuine treasure hunter (as in pirates, Spaniards, sunken ships etc). Yes, there are people who do this, many of them, and many around Florida. Mel is both knowledgeable and wildly entertaining. He's not shy about asking for tips, but IMHO he earns every penny.

The historic trolley tour was great! Our guide, Marty, was very knowledgeable and had interesting anecdotes to share as well. We would not have had as rich of an experience on the island without the tour. The open air trolley provided a nice breeze and they offered waters and a city map as well.
