Alejandro Garces Camp Tomahawk Park is a small but very cool park located at the end of a quiet side street on the southside of Jacksonville, Florida. It has a small but pleasant nature walk, a kayak launch, a children's playground, an open field, adequate parking, and more. There is a private residence on the grounds, so please be mindful of that. All in all, Alejandro Garces Camp Tomahawk Park is a wonderful park and a great place in particular for the residents of this quiet side street. We need parks like this in our communities. This is a wonderful place to come in respite.I would definitely recommend a visit here, especially if you are in the neighborhood or anywhere in the general area. I will give it five stars as an overall rating. Go check it out for yourself, I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

Was looking for a nearby park to kill an hour of time with my kiddo. The physical structure of the park is small but there are a lot of benefits to this park. There is a large flat green field that would be perfect for frisbee or even a game of a football, kickball or other sport. There is a pavilion that can be reserved with the city that has 4 picnic tablEs underneath. There are swings for infants and adults. There are even men and women restrooms which is rare to find at public parks. I went inside and they were clean looking even having toilet paper! What I think makes this park even more special is there is a kayak/canoe launch and hiking trails. The trails appear to be well maintained and the larger ones my stroller was even able to do. The park is a shaded and overall it is just a beautiful hidden spot.

I was waiting for a togo order from a restaurant on Baymeadows and Old Kings so I found this place to go for a walk while waiting. Cool little trail system that starts in a swampy area that slopes up into a little upland ridge to the east. I think the parking area is a city park but I don't think the trail system is maintained by the city. Instead a Jacksonville Track Club appears to be the steward. I think this must be a track and field organization. It's not a huge place for a serious run but it makes for a quick walk. There is even a boardwalk along the headwaters of Goodby's Creek and a canoe and kayak launch.

Nice, clean park. You can take your leashed dogs there. There are some nice trails to walk through the woods. The play area for children is small but they have swings and a jungle gym.

I grew up a park rat in Murray Hill, spending my time at Murray Hill Park and 4 Corners Park. I love parks. Camp Tomahawk is about 4 blocks from my house in San Jose , and I often go there to walk or run. My softball team would practice there in the old days. and this park helped me raise my kids. I can't tell you how many birthday parties we had there, Indian Guides outings, or just a place to take the kids to throw a ball or a frisbee. My son would go there to play his guitar when he got older. He remembered and loved the park. It's a cool neighborhood park and a great place to bring your kids. A policeman lives on the grounds so it is safe. Enjoy.
