Akel's Delicatessen

I never visited the prior location because I didn't feel viable. However, now that the business is in the Bank of America building, I really like it. There is a small dining area if you want to eat there. The menu feels a little overwhelming especially when other customers arrive and you feel the pressure to "just order and move on!" The sandwich I ordered was great and I'm looking forward to exploring more of the menu.

Unfortunately there was not an option for the San Marco location so this was the closest I could get. I have to say I was very very disappointed in the grill cheese. They were extremely stingy with the cheese only two slices of cheese so I am thankful that I did ask for a second type of cheese otherwise I would've only had one slice of cheese on it. For the cost I did have higher expectations. There was 90% more bread than anything else. It was very disappointing because normally when I get grilled cheese it's pretty thick and robust with cheese this was next to nothing.

Akel's is in the Bank of America building in downtown Jacksonville. I work in the same building, making it extremely convenient. I try not to go out to eat too often, but Akel's is always there if I decide I just don't want to eat what I brought from home. They have hearty salads with some of the best ranch around. Several of their soups are very good as well. As far as sandwiches go, I have only had the BLT (on a sub roll) and the Philly cheese steak in a pita. Their bacon is delicious so you can't go wrong with the BLT but the Philly was just ok. I don't often choose to go to Akel's but it will always do in a pinch.

I was in a short meeting in the Bank of America building and afterwards used Yelp to find a breakfast place. Akels was inside and although it didn't have a great rating I looked inside and at the menu. The place was very clean and organized. They seemed to be doing a brisk business so I decided to give it a try. As I was looking at the menu the cook behind the window asked me what I was interested in. I asked him for a recommendation and he said that even though omelets are not on the menu, he cooks a good one. He was right. It was delicious. I sat and ate at a corner table looking at the Laura st and forysth st intersection A fantastic view of the downtown life. Definitely recommend this place.

It's been a minute since I've visited this chain (other location by Everbank Bldg not true to their word!) & decided to check this location out... their sandwich (tuna on rye) was on point & their Ceasar salad was filling. Service was quick & friendly without a lot of fuss & mix/up! The presentation was pleasing to the eye which is carried over the taste which is the most important to me. MUST TRY if you're downtown!!! . 5 (3.5 of 5) certainly will return to this location. 9/28/16

I always forget about how good Akel's is until I am craving a good sandwich. There are not a lot of good sub shops downtown, and this one is hard to find if you don't know where to look. I usually order a sub and their chips/drink combo, which comes out to around $10 total. Not a bad lunch deal! My favorite sub is the Italian, with plenty of meat, Italian dressing, and vegetables. I saw they had a flavor of Sun Chips that I hadn't tried before, French Onion, and I'm glad I picked them out because I ended up really liking the chips. They have a quick and friendly staff that make sure you are not waiting long for your food.

I am traveling and decided to try the less rowed YMCA at Bank of America building. I decide to stop by this deli because of the ease of use while in the area. The chicken salad I purchased was great. It hit the spot.

Went twice in a week. The first time I got a gyro and one of their huge chocolate muffins. The gyro was really good! Second time I got a bagel for breakfast and was surprised by how big it was and for lunch a weekend n' philly and one of their huge brownies - both were very tasty! This is a great spot for me to grab a bite when I forget lunch - I just call and go pick it up. Everyone is friendly and the food is right on time.

ice machine is never working anymore, and if you buy a drink without knowing that, well you're out of luck because they also don't do refunds!!

I eat here almost daily. Always great. Good, fresh food at reasonable prices. Fast and friendly service too.
