Akari Sushi

Your average Japanese fusion spot. Surprisingly their fish quality was decent. Katsu was on dryer side. Bento proton was huge but good for sharing. Their yakiudon is on the saltier side.

Had mixed feelings about this place. It was very very busy. Service was extremely slow. My party came in but yet a couple who came after us was served first even thought my family and I had been waiting for a long time at the table already. There are other good places to eat around the area

If you're craving sushi this is the best in Fernandina Beach! Great service and food! The staff is very welcoming. I love sitting on their porch when the weather permits. Very clean and tastefully decorated.

While this is a sushi restaurant, they have other items for members of your party who may not like sushi. I fell into this category. I had the hibachi chicken and was very disappointed. I asked for fried rice with it and the rice was just white rice with some soy sauce. The chicken tasted like boiled chicken with no seasoning. I shared with several members of my group to get their opinion and they also thought the chicken was bland and dry. Location is great and the other members of my party enjoyed their sushi. If you are not a sushi lover, there are better compromises.

We did takeout so my review will focus more on the quality of the sushi and the service and ambiance. I did get a chance to look around and Akari is a very nice, quaint restaurant on the inside - fairly small but welcoming. The sushi bar itself is pretty small, so not sure about getting seating there if you were interested. We ended up ordering edamame (good), miso soup (just ok), yellowtail nigiri, an eel/avacado roll, and the Amelia Island roll. The sushi was very good - we really enjoyed all of the selections. Would have been much better to be at the restaurant in person for the presentation, but the food was excellent.

I would give Akari Sushi 4+ stars, but it's just kind of grimy. The sushi is fresh and it is good .. the service is just 'ok'. It is in great location.... You can sit on the porch and people watch. It would be nice if they would take some pride & do some cleaning and picked some weeds. You can tell that it's not a priority for them.

Average Sushi Restaurant at best. I have eaten there three times and each experience has been different. Once really good; once ok and once horrible. The location obviously is great and if you want Sushi it is your only option in downtown Fernandina Beach

The service was fine but if you know anything about sushi, go elsewhere. The fish was cut into thick chunks. Thinner pieces would be better. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy.

Nice people. Pleasant location. Good good food and service. I will definitely come again.
