I've been to every location they have except this one by the beach. I believe it's the biggest location and only location to where they have cocktails!!! I need to try them next time. I had the Coquito latte and ham croquettes. Both were delicious.

I have been to this location multiple times as well as the location on Baymeadows. This location seems to move a lot slower and there often seems to be an issue with their phone line being tied up. I have been on hold for over 20 minutes, hung up, arrived at the restaurant just to find that the phone was left off the hook and the server forgot about me being on the phone. That alone did not deter me from going back because the food was good so I just try to go when it may not be as busy. I decided to go the other day around 5pm and I ordered the plate with yellow rice, black beans and palomillo steak. The order was placed over the phone with the guy who answered. When I arrived, a guy was working on the order so I waited a few minutes before it was done. When my order was ready, I didn't even think to look in the bag because I never had an issue here before. I also had my newborn waiting for me, so I was also in a rush. When I was finally able to eat my meal later that night, I was highly disappointed. The black beans that I paid an additional $1.50 for were not included in the order. The palomillo steak that I paid an additional $2.50 for was drier than I had ever seen before. It's like they were trying to make beef jerky instead of steak. The yellow rice and the salad were perfect! Due to having a newborn and a five year old, I was not able to eat my dinner as soon as I arrived home which ended up not being prior to the restaurant closing so I could not call them to inform them that my order was off. When I attempted to call the restaurant the next day, the line was busy. I called four times and each time it was busy, so I put the food in the car and started heading to the restaurant. On the way, I tried to call again and someone answered, the lady on the phone told me she would need to call the manager because she was not in and she would call me back. When the lady called me back she informed me that the manager approved a refund for the beans. When I asked her why was it only for the beans, she said because the palomillo steak was a thin steak. I let her know that I have eaten this same meal from them multiple times and I have never had a steak so dry from them. She then proceeded to tell me that maybe the steak was so dry because I waited so long to eat it. I explained to her that I have ordered this before, picked it up earlier and did not have this problem. I told her that I could bring the food to her but she said since it was after 24 hours there was nothing they could do. I told her that I thought it was ridiculous and I could not believe that they are only willing to give a refund for the beans. She offered to have the manager give me a call and I told her that I would love to speak to the manager. This order was placed 12/27 and I have yet to receive a call or a refund for the beans like they said they would.I went back and took a second look at the other half of the steak and I realized that it was only the first half of the steak that I ate that was jerky. The other half was not dry and cooked well. This place was a place that I liked and previously recommended for good food but this experience has changed everything. They have lost a customer.

Came here for a quick bite with my family. When I entered, we were greeted. I checked out their menu and went with their croqueta and egg sandwich, a side of plantains, and a side of chicken croquetas. After I ordered, I headed to their water pitcher to get some water, but they were all out. I asked the gentleman behind the counter and could see he was busy packing an order. He said when he was done, the water would be refilled. No worries. Our food came out in waves. My croquetas came out first. I was a little bummed when I bit into them and they weren't super hot. I normally get their normal croquetas that are on the egg sandwich, but all they had left was chicken. I will say that I like the original ones better, I believe they have ham in them.Next came out my egg sandwich. This is by far my favorite sandwich they have here. The only thing I didn't like was that the whites of the egg were over cooked a bit, but the flavor was there.Next came out my plantains. They were piping hot, crispy sides, and delicious! We'll be back!

Unfortunately my pictures lacked this time- will add more next time.Went on a Friday night for take out- pretty empty with only one table inside. Welcomed immediately and staff were able to make some good recommendations. Smaller inside, but ample table room and also outside seating is offered.Sandwiches average $13, but are large- sharing size.Cuban- Pretty good, nice amount of protein.Pan con bistec- steak, good flavor. While I wish there was a little more of the sauce, I really enjoyed and it was a great recommendation.904- Turkey, bacon, subbed out the Swiss cheese. Wanted a basic option for the kids but they wound up also trying and liking the other options too.Empanadas we tried the pork and beef- both great. All of this fed two adults and three kids (11-14), with an empanada and a half and a half sandwich still left.Offer breakfast and coffee items- will be back to try.

Finally tried this Cuban restaurant along with a few serious Cuban foodie friends after hearing so many reviews. We were not disappointed! The ambience of the restaurant, presentation & taste of the food was great! My only disappointment was that they were out of the Ropa Veja special prior to our arrival mid-afternoon. Otherwise, our dishes were very good & we will return again!

1928. Cuban is always amazing place to stop for when you're craving good food. Our cocktails and coffee was great. We squished some tables together so we could eat and drink with friends even though this bistro is a little smaller than most restaurants. The service always packs a punch because they are always kind.

It's nice to see a Cuban Bistro in Jax. I'm live now in Minnesota and miss my favorite Florida foods. The staff are excellent and service is fast. I had the cafe con leche in a proper cup. I recommend unsweetened to let the good flavors through. The yucca fries were spot on. Crispy outside, tender inside. The sandwich is very good however handicapped as the bread isn't quite the authentic Cuban bread I'm used to. However it is still crispy when pressed. Well worth a visit

I have an obsession with this place and they empanadas, coffee, and their chicken soup. Regardless of what you get you love it and it will have you wanting more right after. I got the 1928 empanadas which consist of ground beef's cheese, and sweet plantains. These are my favorite. All of there locations have the cutest setups.

When you need your Cubano Food fix, 1928 has you. Small spot, counter service, made to order. Service is always a 10/10 with happy people that love to engage their customers. Most people get takeout or eat at one of the outside tables, but I side they have limited seating, if it is hot outside. But the food, you need to know about the food:Maduroes - crisp outside, soft I side, delicious all around. Cuban Sandwich - I missed the hint of sweetness that comes with traditional Cubans but it still is tasty. Pan Con Bistec - now this sandwich delivers, pressed and served warm Cuban Sloppy Joe - it is a sloppy Joe in texture, but the flavor is certainly Cuban. DELISH.The Elena Ruth - this is my favorite thing on the menu and you can get it regular, or fancy with Brie cheese. My recommendation, always get the fancy. Guava Cake - moist cake, guava center, all around good. Really a solid lunch spot, closes at 5:00 so no dinner service.

I recently had the pleasure of savoring cuban bistros latest creation, the ropa viejita sandwich. What sets this delectable delight apart is the use of tostones instead of traditional bread.Picture this, succulent shreds of juicy meat intertwined with vibrant peppers and melted cheese, all snugly embraced by two crisply fried tostones. The contrast of textures and flavors is nothing short of a revelation. The tostones, serving as both foundation and embrace, add a delightful crunch to each bite, elevating the entire experience. But the magic doesn't stop there. The sandwich reaches new heights with the addition of three sweet plantains. Nestled alongside the savory goodness, these plantains provide a nice flavor balancing the richness with their natural sweetness. It's a culinary symphony where each ingredient plays a crucial role in creating a symphony of flavors. The ropa viejita sandwich is a testament to the bistro's commitment to culinary innovation while staying true to its classic roots. Whether you're a regular or a first time visitor, this creation is a must try!
