Recently came here for a show. It's a great combination of grunge dive bar/ music venue/ downtown hangout. I love how they have a patio for taking a break between shows. They also had cold water available to self pour. The bartenders were friendly and fast. Some good local beer options. Nice cozy standing room for seeing Brendan Kelley!

I love this place because it's so versatile. You have a mix of ages enjoying music together and depending on the night you attend; there is just a plethora of genres of music whether there is a live band or Djs. I've been on several occasions for different types of events and it has yet to disappoint (ME).The indoor part of the venue is warehouse style, to me it seems large but other reviews seem to think otherwise but I guess if you do go to dance, the couple of bar style tables in front of the stage take away from having space. We were at a table and i did have people standing right next to me or dancing bumping into our table. So i guess that's what they mean. Then there's the outside patio with a stage which you can find either a band or dj; all depending on the night you go. There is seating out there as well and room to dance. There's also a bar out there but the times I've been has not been open for business. Drinks aren't badly priced I got 2 vodkas, one with OJ and one with Red Bull and a beer and paid under $30 with tip, SAW WHAT?!?! It is a dark, 'divey' joint but I fully recommend if you're a live music lover and don't mind a very chill vibe. I posted videos of one of the bands i saw when i checked in the night i went. Their name was Cowford. Totally check them out, it was my first time seeing them and they gained a fan! The videos won't be tied to this review.

Love going to goth night at this place! It's a smaller place they have a full bar and an outdoor area that is smoker friendly with an outdoor bar that sometimes sells food apparently (didn't know that maybe it's new? Or depends on the event) not huge on the location just because it's downtown and parking can be hard to find sometimes nearby but other than that I think it's a pretty cool spot and it's right next to Spliffs which sells Mac and cheese ,sandwiches and beer!

This place should be shut down. It's a Covid Petrie dish. We purchased tickets for a concert. When we arrived we found out it was standing room only. It is a funky, sketchy bar. Dark, smelly and I'm pretty sure there wasn't any AC but I wouldn't know as I turned around at the door after getting a take on the inside. And they can set up tables according to their site. Instead they expect all these old folks in this crowd to stand side to side and butts to nuts for two hours. I've been to a lot of music venues and this is by far the very WORST. Especially during a fukking pandemic you'd think they'd be a bit cautious. Instead they prefer to support super spreaderevents. Shame on you. Shame on the owners.

I've walked right past and never noticed this spot. It's very unsuspecting from the sidewalk view, but once inside, I had instant "NYC underground rave club" feels (Don't ask me how I know; just imagining so!) in Downtown Jax, and I loved it! It's dark, loud, and divey-chic (lol) with all the trimmings -- exposed brick, unfinished floors, somewhat harsh stage lighting! Oh, and don't even get me started on the fabulous outdoor area in the back! Two words-- wall murals! Man, I've been missing out! They only serve beer and wine, but they've got great options and my favorite ciders so I'm covered. The staff is super friendly and the vibe is right! Go check it out!

This review is for the bar service. We attended the 10/26 show (1st 2 bands) and I have to say, the bartender situation was one of the absolute worst I have seen at any venue in decades. The bar manager (?) was doing okay but he was not able to take up the slack of the lady bartender who, despite there being a sold-out crowd and a bar line 5 deep, had zero hustle and was completely disorganized. I personally saw people who were waiting for service for most of the 1st band set and part of the 2nd (one poor guy I timed and he gave up after 50 minutes). Being one of the only venues to being in good talent mid-week is no excuse for such terrible service. There weren't even bar backs. Please do better next time. At the very least if you have a sold out show have 3 bartenders and a bar back. If you can't afford to pay them with a sold out crowd, you're doing something very very wrong.

As someone who enjoys the performance of live music, 1904 is a staple in Downtown Jacksonville. For a run down joint, this place has seen it's fair share of good, bad and ugly moments, but for the most part it delivers an A-OK experience. The venue itself is small, reminiscent of an underground club in the outskirts of Brooklyn. When it comes to the upkeep of the space, it's safe to say it's seen better days. I'm pretty sure it's owned by Spliff's the same folks who own Spliff's next door which amplifies its existence. They do a fairly decent job securing local acts, but there's never been any out-of-town bands that have drawn me in. Although I did see a good show the other night with a band called DBMK from Tampa. The venue definitely attracts an underage crowd, so beware of the sharpie X-marks on hands for the 18 year olds!I really wish they'd take care of the outdoor patio space, which would be killer if they took care of it or the demand was higher. Either way, go watch see a cheap show and support a local band.

This is a very dismal the dark bar music hall downtown Jacksonville. They have some interesting bands that play there but the place itself doesn't have anything unique about it. It's basically a room with a stage a bar and some stand up seats tables. The drinks seem to be mediocre and a little higher than should be. The bartenders were very slow to get the drinks and the order the customers came in.

Somehow or another, I always seemed to miss heading to a show at 1904, even through various Art Walks and One Spark. Last night, 1904 hosted the World Arts Film Festival After Party and I finally got to see a show in this awesome space.1904 is straight forward. Beer (or wine) and music. Simple as that. They have a handful of beer on tap, but a pretty large bottle and can selection. Not going to lie, I was disappointed to see Budweiser and inBev products in the mix, especially with all the trouble they are giving our locals brewers. However, the first recommendation from the bartender was a local brew, so there's that. I was feeling like a stout last night and was excited to find out that they had Green Room Brewing's Count Shak-u-la on tap. I have been searching for that for awhile and most of my usual hangouts haven't had it, or I had just missed it on the rotation. I walked in just as one of my fave local bands started their set. I've seen these guys play at Burro, Fly's Tie, and on outdoor stages, but I don't think I've heard them sound as good as they did last night. The sound guy was on point and the acoustics inside 1904 are absolutely beautiful. I don't know how I had never seen a show here before, but I'll definitely be making sure to come back.

Checked out this music venue last night and had a great time. Used to go to live music all the time when I lived in Boston & Providence- was pleasantly surprised to check out this place. Let's be clear- it's a 4 star on the grungy dive bar music venue scale. It's dark, crowded, smoky, and a bit sticky. (There technically isnt smoking inside but it still was smoky either from the stage effects or patio smokers). Bathroom is a dark closet. But as long as you know what you are walking into, this is a great spot to check out some live music. Decent security at the front door, full bar that accepts CC (nice!), great acoustics and lighting. There is an outdoor smoking patio and second stage & bar out back too. Parking can be a hassle with either metered or garages. Not sure how much shows usually are here, assuming it varies on the talent, but 20 bucks was well worth it for a night out with live music. I will def sign up for their emails and see what other acts play here.
