Why is it that the better food in Old Town is inevitably not Mexican? This Italian restaurant feels like a throwback to the 90's, and Sergio, our waiter, was simply fantastic. I came in with a group of 6 on a Thursday early evening to catch a meal before a show at the Cygnet. We ordered caprese, garlic bread, and a couple bottles of wine to start. For my main I had a folded veal cutlet with ham, fontina, and mushrooms in a white wine sauce which was yummy. The food overall is done well, and I would most definitely return, but there wasn't a dish I would specifically return for. Bottom line, great service, decent food, in an area that can be lacking in great food. 5 star service, 4 star food.

I have enjoyed the food here for 43 years. I first went to Jack an Giulio's in Pacific beach. The food has always been been outstanding and the Scampi Alla Giulio is to die for. The tortellini verde is also excellent. A great dinning experience at reasonable prices.

After you get all the Mexican food out of your system in Old Town, you can turn your attention to some solid Italian food for a change of pace. My wife and I made a reservation online, which maybe wasn't necessary when we arrived and were one of only a couple parties there.Service was attentive, but subdued. I really enjoyed my spaghetti and meatball and my wife enjoyed the fettucine. Everything was delicious and I would definitely plan to return next time I'm in the area.

When visiting Old Town we get our Mexican Food fix and then our Italian food fix. My husband has been coming here for over 20+ years. Every time the food has been amazing. The servicer are so friendly and enjoying talking. You can seat inside or outside. Both sections are nice to seat at. Definitely recommended if you like some old school Italian food.

Visiting out of town. Turned to socials for guidance on where to eat. Other reviews were good so we thought we'd stop in. It was an early dinner start as we had a child with us. 20 minutes before we had drink orders taken. Our food did not come out together. When the second round of plates hit the table one dish was undercooked. The waiter did not come back until we went to find him for the check. He seemed concerned I hadn't eaten. I explained why, and he got upset I didn't mention anything. I definitely would have if he had come back. He was kind to remove that plate from the ticket. We were there for over 2.5 hours. Agreement around the table (there were 4 of us) meal was just okay. Service was stretched quite thin. Perhaps they were short that night. If you do go...reserve outdoor seating if weather permits.

This was our first visit to J&G and we dined here with 3 other couples. Their food, service, and ambiance were off-the-chart spectacular! All of us had a wonderful time! Jose was our server and he was amazing, he recommended their best dishes, never missed a beat during his service at our table, and even sang a classic Italian song before our desserts were brought out! Take a look at our attached photos! Your mouths will salivate as you can almost taste their deliciousness. We wished their menu was a little more extensive, and the street parking availability was greater, but there wasn't one complaint heard from any of our guests. We can't wait to return! Our only regret was taking so long to actually try this awesome spot.

I was lucky to find this beautiful restaurant in Old Town thanks to Google search. The food was fantastic and unfortunately for me, my eyes were bigger than my stomach! I had their Caprese salad and then ordered the Scampi alla Giulio, a bounty of wild-caught white shrimp, butterflied, sautéed with mushrooms, and white wine served with pasta or vegetable of the day. This dish was "to die for" delicious!!!! I don't remember what wine I had but I can say it went beautifully with the food. Service was great and so was my view of the street. I will make a point of returning here next time I am in San Diego and hopefully, that will be sooner than later.

We have been frequenting this restaurant for years. I love the Scampi a la Guilio! It was my Mom's favorite dish and in her last year of life I often got it "to go" for the two of us to share. Thank you Jack & Guilio helping me create these special memories with my Mom.

Fantastic! Perfect! Amazing experience!!!Okay, now that I've got those keywords out of the way, I can proceed with my review. My family along with another family found ourselves down in Old Town a few days before Dia de Los Muertos a few weeks back. We had a great time wandering around, taking pictures, visiting the cemetery and just being out for the celebration. Towards the evening we started getting hungry and decided on Italian for dinner. We had already been to some of the Mexican food restaurants during prior trips down, so decided to try something new. After a quick search, we came across Jack & Giulio's towards the south end of the main drag, so we made our way to the restaurant. Upon arriving we entered into the front courtyard which provided ample outdoor seating in a nice area. It was a little later at this point in the evening so there wasn't much of a crowd down here. We were promptly greeted and offered our choice of seating either inside or outside. It was a beautiful evening, so we opted for outside at a large, round table with plenty of room for the six of us.We all ordered our own items and there were also plenty of options for the kids as well. I am a huge fan of chicken picotta, so was at first going to go for that, but then noticed they also had veal picotta which I don't get quite as often, so landed on that. The portion sizes were very generous and the quality of the food was amazing. We also enjoyed a couple glasses of wine as well as desert and coffee before closing out. I feel terrible that I can't remember our server's name but even with us sitting outside, he was very friendly, attentive and acquiesced to everything we asked for. The overall experience was exceptional even to where my girlfriend's daughter was still telling us a couple weeks later that we need to go back. We will absolutely be back for more and if asked, I would confidently say it's probably in my top-5 list of Italian food restaurants.
