Not all Ixtapa restaurants are created equal.
I don't remember what this was called, but it was sort of a fajita-style chicken in a very soupy sauce.

The environment reminds you to being at grandmas house with such quietness and really old Mexican movies played in the TV, but the food was okay, maybe too much cheese over the enchiladas. Also I was expecting a Mexican taco? But got a American attempt of Mexican taco. And the old lady who served me was very rude by asking me in a aggressive and cold tone "Tell me whats what you want" when I was about to say my dish choice and pointed at the menu. Please that isn't how you treat a new costumer. Thanks.

Delicious! All in our party agreed, some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. We were passing through from all over the country... from Florida, to Pennsylvania, to Seattle.

We tried this place around 6 or 7 pm. on a Friday night, and it was empty. We ordered fajitas, a chicken chimichanga, a kids taco meal, and queso. The chimichanga and fajitas were good. The kids' taco was way too over seasoned to the point of being inedible. The queso really threw me off. I was expecting typical white queso with meat... but it was straight-up orange nacho cheese with more over seasoned meat. It honestly tasted exactly like chili cheese dip. Which is not even close to what we wanted. Regardless of the taco meat and queso, the food was okay, but I think we'll try other restaurants before we go back to this one.

Ixtapa has always been a wonderful family owned restaurant with excellent comforting food. I've been going here for 30 years. Everything is delicious. My favorites growing up were the huge chicken quesadilla, the "no names", the huge taco salad and of course everyone's favorite the enchilada plates. Service is always prompt. We did a to go order and the food was hot and plentiful. Just as I remembered.

Do not go here! The rice wasn't cooked all the way and everything else tasted like it came out of a can. Some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had.

it would've been better to just stay hungry. The salsa was even bad....like weird seeds in it....and almost a spinach like strandy spinach in there...yuck.service was lifeless. Grandma the server was more interested in watching the television l than the patrons. And the main employee who sat us? He had his kid in the restaurant....like a four year old. Not responsible....not professional....not normal for a place you go to eat!the meat portion of the meal was clearly skimpy.overall just totally disappointing.wouldn't return .

I'm surprised this restaurant received low ratings. My fiance and I ate here today and it was fantastic! Seriously one of the best Mexican meals we've ever had and that's saying something considering we're both visiting from southern California where there's typically Mexican food on every corner. The chips and salsa was so good - you can tell the salsa is made in-house and the "heat" is perfect in my opinion, our meals were piping hot (which is a good thing) and flavorful , and our black margaritas were absolutely delicious; they didn't taste super syrupy or overly sweet like some places. Also, our waitresses were very kind and attentive! We give this place a 10/10 and will definitely be back.
