Freaking Fantastic All Around. When I travel I always seek out this type of pizza -- and Isola La Jolla easily ranks in top five. The dough was tasty, the toppings delicious on the prosciutto pizza and it wasn't burnt, which many of these places suffer with. It was cooked perfectly and delicious. On top of that, I sat at the bar and the server/bartender on this Saturday night was great. He was hustling as it was really busy but still provided five star service.A must go.

The ambiance here was very nice!! Peaceful, pretty with the fairy lights, and cute set up with the roses. Service was so so very friendly! Came enough but not too much. Great balance :)I wouldn't say this is the best Italian food in the world but of the dishes we ordered, the margarita pizza was pretty good.

I stopped in here with my parents as our first stop on my mom's birthday food crawl. I've visited La Jolla for over 25 years during the summer to get away from the Arizona heat, but never ventured to this street. We ordered a few bottles of wine and had an appetizer. We ordered the Gamberetti Alla Diavola which was honestly so tasty. The dish was $18 and for the price, it was filled with shrimp. Our server brought us extra bread to soak up the delicious juice. He also brought us some of their special olive oil because of how good he said it was. He was correct.I didn't enter the interior of the restaurant, but the patio had a nice charm to it. Our server was very informative on items and made us feel welcomed. I will definetely be coming back to have a whole meal.I will give our experience a 8/10.

We sat at the bar since this place was booked so you may need to call in for reservations on a Saturday night. The bartender was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable about wines they served and she had a beautiful smile. We had two pizzas and both were delicious! The crust was light, airy, slightly crispy, wood fired and had a good chew to it. Fresh ingredients and we loved the Mozzarella Affumicata, E Peperoncini Pizza which has smoked mozzarella, spicy cherry peppers, tomato sauce, parmigiano, and we added spicy salame for an additional charge which was delicious! Great wine selection to pair with the pizza we had. Upscale, chill ambiance with a bustling vibe.

Food was delicious! Pizza crust was a thin, slightly burnt edges which we liked. The red onions wasn't overly overpowering the other ingredients. Light dressing on the arugula salad. Service excellent. Ambiance -open, airy, nicely decorated. Dog-friendly. Highly recommend making reservations or come early for dinner.

The ambiance is upscale and "beachy" at the same time. The food looks good but tastes kinda mediocre, the sauce was too watery and the cheese didn't stick on. I ordered their four meat pizza (forgot the actual name of the dish) and the cheese slid off as soon as I picked up the slice.

My husband and I had the best date night at Isola. We had reservations, but we arrived early so we grabbed a seat at the bar. We ended up getting so comfortable there that when they offered us our table, we said we'd stay at the bar instead. The bartender was fantastic. He allowed us to sample a few wines before choosing a bottle. No surprised- we went with a classic, Daou. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a Neapolitan style pizza and the rigatoni. Everything was perfect and we had such a great evening there!

Overall: Great option for a pizza night. The good: Good location and menu, with friendly service. The dough was soft yet charred well, and had a decent amount of toppings on it. Prices are reasonable and the pizzas are sized well. On a colder night, with our baby, they turned up the heaters outside for us (was full inside). They had a nice outdoor space with 5-10 tables. The not-so-good: Not much! The pizza wasn't 10/10, but we still had a great experience.Food/drink: 8/10Atmosphere: 8/10Service: 8/10

A good choice when you're craving pizza, but want to be a little fancy. Lots of nice outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh evening air. The pizzas are quite filling (assuming you get one pizza per person).Polipo: Probably the first time I had an octopus dish that was refreshing. I'm used to whole charred tentacles that are full of richness, so usually delicious but not refreshing. In this dish the octopus was sliced into rounds and tossed in a tangy sauce with mellow potatoes and crisp celery. Not quite sure if it's officially a salad, but this is definitely the kind of salad I'd like.Margherita DOP: When trying a new pizza place, I like to stick with the basics of just sauce and cheese. That way I can evaluate the pizza quality without being biased by fancy toppings. Really loved the tomato sauce! Was high quality and tasted like San Marzano. The buffalo mozzarella was nice, but I wish they were a little more generous with the portion. The dough seem oddly unequal. You either had almost paper thin portions covered in sauce or thick crust like breadsticks. When there's too much crust I automatically think they got skimpy on the sauce and cheese.

Isola pizza bar is amazingly good! They are particularly know for their pizza dough, which is light and fluffy. They use the dough to also make bread for their paninis. We got an array of food for lunch, including the margherita pizza, the portofino panini, and the roasted vegetable appetizer. All were excellent! We arrived right when the restaurant opened at 11:30 for lunch, and the space was not at all crowded or busy. This gave the space a nice atmosphere to just sit, relax, and enjoy our meal.
