Amazing dishes that i ordered, very pricey though i paid over 40$ for a beer, medium sized main dish which was Oxtails with a side, ordered a extra side which was mac & cheese (10$) it was À la carte (huge portion) probably top 3 in Phoenix. had leftovers. My server was very friendly (cute) and loved to chat it up. I miss the days 3 yrs ago when this dish was no more then 25$ i left 25% tip. Think its a new owner, the last owner was rude and obnoxious asf.

A true small business. Service is good. Inside is very simple and a little run down. The door was wide open the whole time we were there so the inside was pretty cold. Menu was limited. They play pretty loud religious music the whole time.We got the oxtail and curry chicken. The food was okay. Food comes out fast.The curry chicken was salty and did not have potatoes. It was much darker in color than most curry chicken. The oxtail had many broken bone pieces.The rice and steamed cabbage / vegetables was good. It's pretty expensive of a joint given the quality of food / experience and size of portions. There are better Jamaican food options in the valley.

This place probably has the worst customer service I have experienced in Arizona is along time. Would have been our first time trying them but was so disappointed by the staff and the lazy girl at the counter that we just walked out. I will never give my hard earned money to any business that at the least can't even speak to you upon entering and make you feel like you entering is a bother. No worries other restaurants are actually happy to take an order. For example the Ethiopian restaurant in the same plaza. It was wonderful with great service and food.

Got the curry goat and they did not disappoint! Very tender and seasoned to the bone! A+!

I ordered the curry chicken & plantains And tbh it was fantastic. The chicken fell right off the bone I really enjoyed the ginger in the curry too .The plantains were perfect for me . Just wish I had ordered extra gravy .

This place has gone down hill drastically since the previous ownership. I wish it had a grass wall so I at least knew it was a scam. Went in for a cocktail while I was waiting for Ethiopian food we love next door. They had the nerve to charge $15 a drink before taxes for these tiny cups of nothing. I ordered a rum and ginger beer. Mind you a whole bottle of ginger beer says it's $4.25. I got maybe 1/5 of it for my drink since they didn't leave me the bottle. So you mean to tell me that shot of regular rum cost $13? Make it make sense. Bunch of crooks. I've eaten here before too and for 4-5 funky small dry pieces of the tip of the oxtail costing $27.99. I digress. I'm all for supporting small businesses and they gotta eat.. but when you trying to just get rich quick. That's a hard no. Especially when the customer service is trash.

The chicken was dry they were very few vegetables and a whole lot of rice 3/4 of the plate was all riceWould not recommend that place either that or go earlier in the day when the food is more abundant and fresh

It has been updated since the last time that I was there. It was over a year ago. I was giving them another shot. The food was delicious. I was not disappointed. I was greeted and waited on in timely manner. The music was bumping on a Friday evening. I will definitely return soon.

From the moment I had walked in I felt like I was on the island, the staff was welcoming, the service was up to standard and the food for sure really delicious I had to take my time and savor the flavor it was that good pure authenticity. Island Grill AZ is an experience you must try the ambiance was pure Jamaican vibes from the music to the decor I almost forgot that I'm in Phoenix.
