I have come here a few times with a friend who eats here regularly. I found the salmon to be delicious and I usually order it over a Greek salad. The service by Mindy is always excellent as well as Tina. I'm not sure why the other Yelpers were so hard on the place but I really liked the hamburger (fake cause it's not meat) but I can't remember what they call it. The French fries were so good! I say try it .... you'll like it. Anyone remember that line?

There's something about Mercer Island that has always puzzled me. For such an upscale community (it boasts among its residents some of the richest in the state, or even the country [Paul Allen lives here!]) that it would have a more vibrant culinary scene. Surprisingly, there are few if any dining establishments that are attractive enough to bring in people from off-Island. When the most popular place is a humble pub (Roanoke Inn), that's saying a lot. Most establishments are nondescript joints you'd find in any strip mall. Island Crust is typical of this.THE ROSES: The food itself is pretty good. Salads and sandwiches feature fresh ingredients, and the house-made falafel is actually quite good, as is the tahini garlic dressing they use. The staff is very pleasant, and the establishment is very clean.THE THORNS: Service, while pleasant, could be more efficient. The server forgot my coleslaw (but did bring it later). Location is not visible from the street. If you don't notice the sandwich board on the sidewalk, you may well miss it. Vegetarian menu can be a real drawback if you weren't expecting it.THE VERDICT: Nice enough place, but like so many of Mercer Island's dining offerings, not enough to bring you in from off-island. Good for a reasonably healthy bite if you're in the neighborhood.

Not a Jewish deli anymore. When you email the owner about two dozen latkes for your child's preschool event and the owner tells you that he will make them and have them ready for pick up when you need them picked up, don't trust it. When you pick up your two dozen latkes you will find that they actually made two dozen donuts and left you high and dry. Not cool Island Crust.

Service was awful, food was overpriced, and they declined the Yelp coupon that they were well aware of. They said the coupon was declined due to new ownership but they left it up on Yelp so that people would come in anyways

What a disappointment! The only Kosher option in Seattle and when we walked in, the air was thick with the stench of old fryer oil. We should have walked out. I had been looking forward to a nice dinner out, but I lost my appetite. I did not dare to order the fish. There was only one other table seated and I had doubts of the freshness of the fish. When I asked the waitress what was the freshest, she replied that it was the Chilean Sea Bass at $41.00 a plate. She confirmed that the pizza was the most popular item. We ordered salads and my boyfriend also had the baked ziti, which arrived in a metal takeout tray, made with pasta heated in the oven with pizza sauce and pizza cheese, $19.00. The next day he had food poisoning. This restaurant is perfect for an episode of, "Restaurant Impossible." There was a huge refrigerator case filled with beverages with a sign on it announcing it's disrepair. How this place stays in business is a mystery. If it had good food, smaller and more manageable menu, a cleaner kitchen and no rancid oil stench, it could do well as Seattle's only Kosher eatery.
