We stopped by Yummy Banh Bao after visiting Phuc Loc Tho for some Tết prep, and we're so glad we did! We had heard great things about their bao, and they definitely lived up to the hype. The space is small and simple, like a typical Vietnamese deli, offering a variety of options, including chè, bánh mì, tofu, and of course, bánh bao. Despite the compact space, the service was quick and efficient. We tried three types of bánh bao: * Thập cẩm (Combination) - A well-seasoned mix with a good balance of ingredients. * Xá xíu (BBQ Pork) - Tender, flavorful, and not overly sweet. * Taro Bao - My personal favorite! The filling was smooth and lightly sweet, complementing the soft, fluffy bao perfectly. The filling-to-bao ratio was just right--not too bready, allowing the flavors of the filling to shine. Plus, the prices were very affordable, making this a great spot for a quick and satisfying bite.If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely stop by for more!Star Rating: (5/5)Great flavors, quick service, and affordable prices--what more could you ask for?

Probably one of the busiest shops in the whole plaza! We got the bánh bao with quail egg. The filling was tender and juicy, and they still taste great for a few days in the fridge. The square pa tê sô were perfectly crunchy and flaky. We love keeping both as snacks or meal prep throughout the week. The crispy pork belly sandwiches did not disappoint either! A little bit on the pricey end, but there was a lovely medley of sweet and sour vegetables and spicy mayo filling. The crispy pork skin made for a perfect and satisfying crunch especially when after the buns were toasted! During noon, a line forms in the front, so we had to wait 10 minutes for our sandwiches. And the store is small, so best for takeout.

Swung by Yummy Banh Bao over the weekend after spotting a line--it moved quickly, so I figured why not? I grabbed three baos to try: salted egg, quail egg, and custard lava. The buns were fresh and had a nice bun-to-filling ratio, which I appreciated.Flavor-wise, they were solid, but my savory ones came out a bit cold, which was a small letdown. Still, they hit the spot for a quick snack, even though they're a bit pricey. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're craving a light bite.

The banh baos are so good and fresh here. The filling to bread ratio is pretty even. We stumbled upon this place leaving Phu Loc Tho and we noticed the line so you know it's good. I love the taro buns from here and I can eat a whole box like a big back.

Good pork buns (bao). 5-layer cake with durian is also good. Tastier if you microwave it a bit before eating.I love the steamed peanuts. I like it that they fill the bag all the way to the top. There's always a line here and it moves very slowly, so be prepared.

My family always gets #2 with salted eggs or #3 with quail eggs, and #8 taro is my favorite, but they are often sold out of taro. They didn't have taro the past few times I've gone. The last time I was there, it was about 9:30 am, and I was hoping for taro, but they didn't have any ready. The store is small and gets busy, so don't lose your spot in line.Parking is limited, so if you're able to find parking you are lucky! If not, park on Moran Street at the beginning of the strip mall and do a little walking. I'd still come back here because they are so friendly and the banh bao is delicious!

My sister asked me to pick up some banh baos for her since I was already going to be in the OC area... & I'm not disappointed. This is my new favorite banh bao spot The wait was about 20-25 minutes... but so worth it. I originally wanted to order the #2, which was the banh bao pork with salted egg but they unfortunately ran out (at around 4:30PM on a Sunday). I ended up purchasing the #3 which is the banh bao pork with quail egg. Although it wasn't my first option, I was still very impressed! I've tried the quail egg banh bao from other places and was never satisfied. The inside of this banh bao is soft warm and bouncy! I waited the line but if I would've known there was a drive through, I would've waited the drive through line instead. They also only take cash, and if you decide to use a card there IS a 3% charge. Next time I am in the area, I'm definitely bringing home a box of the #2 or #3!
