I visited this business yesterday for lunch. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the ordering; the space itself is small, so you mostly eat on the shared patio - it was too hot for me yesterday so i brought food back to my office. I had the combo plate with Beef bulgogi and chicken katsu, with white rice, cabbage salad, kimchi and macaroni salad. The bulgogi was a little chewy and the mac salad was a little boring, but everything else was great. (Add some soy sauce to the mac to improve it!) It was really expensive - over $20. I may come back - the food was really good, just a little pricy.

Umma's K-BBQ is a fast casual Korean and Hawaiian influenced restaurant located at the corner of Trabuco Road and Bake Parkway in Lake Forest. The plaza is anchored by a McDonalds and Starbucks and there is plenty of parking available except during peak hours. Their menu is fairly extensive and even though you can dine in the outdoor courtyard, takeout is the way to go.With a combination plate, you can enjoy 2 proteins with choice of base and 4 side orders. I opted for the kalbi and spicy chicken and they did not disappoint. I also tried the spicy pork but it was unfortunately on the dryer side. White rice was my base and I chose cabbage salad, spicy cucumber and a double order of chapjae glass noodles as my side dishes. I also sampled my wife's kimchi and mac salad which were just as tasty as the other sides. The best parts of our experience were the generous portion sizes and the exceptional service provided by the young man behind the counter. We'll def be back!

Went in today with our lake forest bogo gift card! Friendly and quick service. We ordered two of the galbi combo plates, one with bulgogi, one with chicken. I love how the combo plates come with a choice of 4 sides! My fave side is the tofu. The portions are pretty big here, they really stuff the box. Galbi tonight was a bit on the tougher side but it wasn't like that other times I've been so maybe an off day. Will come back again as this is a great weeknight takeout spot when you want to have leftovers to bring to lunch the next day!

Came here at noon to pick up the large party platter that I phoned in to order.The restaurant was really crowded. I suggest going early or late. It was extra crowded at noon. I had to wait 40 minutes for them to put all the food together.The food tasted really good. The meats were seasoned well and juicy. They gave generous portions. The sides were all really good too. The large party platter was a great value. They gave a lot of food and it was delicious.They didn't have tables inside but had outdoor seating. It was more like a Togo place vs a sit down restaurant.HAPPY BBQING!

This place is one of my favorite places to eat! We eat here so often, usually takeout and delivery. I've had them cater several parties and events and the food here is consistently amazing every time! Our favorites are:Kalbi - short ribs, marinated to perfection, and melt in your mouth tender deliciousnessFish-jun - the lightest, flakiest fish ever. I love how thin the slices are. It is the crowning favorite even with our two toddlers.Meat-jun - thin, tender slices of marinated meat with egg. Definitely my favorite for sure!Spicy cucumber and seaweed salad are my favorite side dishes but you can't go wrong with any of them! I also love ordering their mini family packs for dinner parties at home. I've ordered catering trays and brought it to parties before as well. For catering, they do offer delivery at an extra charge. I love how generous the portions are and how the food is just amazing each time! The food reminds me of Hawaii and all the bbqs we would have as a family. It definitely tastes like a home-cooked meal. I can't highly recommend this place enough. If I could choose one meal to eat over and over again, it would be this place for sure!

Bulgogi was cooked to perfection, not too moist or too dry. Mac salad and spicy cucumber salad were also good with decent portion size. The seasoned tofu side was only 3 small pieces and wasn't worth it.

Whenever I'm down in the area for work, I'll always stop by to pickup food from Umma's. Even the mini portion has a lot of food and I always have leftover. I like their japchae noodles, always order 2 portions of it. I usually get no teriyaki sauce on the chicken but the chicken is still flavorful and delish. Service is always friendly and fast. They have great incentives with the points you accumulate with purchase. I was able to redeem $5 off which is so awesome. Can't wait to go back again.

I believe it Umma's Bbq means mothers bbq in Korean? But it's definitely a nice little hole in the wall restaurant in Lake Forest that is greatly suited to lunch or dinner. During lunch time they have a nice little rush for their bowls and combos as they have some really great items like Galbi, Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken and more. I decided to get their combination which comes with two protein and 4 sides so it is a good amount of food. For my proteins I had ordered the Meat Jun and Bulgogi with broccoli, white rice, noodles and Tofu which was a nice variety. Service was good since everyone seemed very nice but the one critique I would have is that their meat and rice was not hot. Either way I believe they are more of a 3.5 star rating on food as it's a great option for take out or lunch time.
